5:00 AM

Rachel could not believe she had to even work this early. Who would buy anything from this store this early in the morning?

She settled down in the chair behind the register. She slowly went back to sleep, the world disappearing as far as she was concerned.

The door ringed.

She woke up with a start, her ink-black hair getting in her face.

"I would like to see your supply of radioactive materials and supplements," said a blue squid.

It was this guy again.

"I'm afraid to tell you this, but I think your looking in the wrong store," said Rachel.

The blue squid put down one of his yellow tentacles. In it was a suitcase full of money.

"Bribing people isn't going to make uranium appear out of nowhere. Now get out of my face. This is a a gas station, for crying out loud..." she said, slamming her hand on the counter.

The blue squid had to be forced out, as he didn't believe her.

7:30 AM

Rachel turned on the TV. As usual, it was stuck on the news channel, as Time Warner Service wasn't all that kind to the gas station.

Rachel was trying to change channels, but the remote wasn't responding. She went to get some new batteries.

"...and in other news, attacks by the mysterious creature are getting worse. New York disappeared this morning, where previously a T-Rex, a clone of George Washington, giant robots, shadowy duplicates and aliens had attacked..."

Rachel stopped for a minute. She heard of the whirlpool, but entire cities just disappearing? What was going on?

"...while the military has always been able to dispatch these creatures, the shadowy duplicates were defeated by a girl named Micaliye and Lock. We turn over to Larry for that story that happened in 1967."

She stopped looking for the batteries and returned to the TV. She had to know what was going on.

Suddenly, a customer came in, and his leg was bleeding. He was walking with a limp. A girl was helping him stand up, although she looked odd next to him, as he was alien in appearance.

6:00 AM

"You bored?" asked Purple.

Speedy didn't say anything, as he was asleep. Everyone else, it seemed, was fast asleep.

Suddenly, Purple felt something lurking in the shadows.

"It's just me. Surge." said the thing lurking in the shadows.

"What are you doing here?" asked Purple.

"Warning you."

A loud screech could be heard, along with the ticking of a clock.

Suddenly, everyone woke up.

"...what was that?" asked Peira.

A massive fist hit the hospital wall. Zak grabbed Airbella and Leila and bolted out.

They quickly escaped the hospital, but it was dark and hard to see. Suddenly, a blinding light covered the area.

They looked over. The hospital was gone.

It was decided that they would find some kind of area to stay in for a bit, as Airbella was still in a body cast, and couldn't use her wind abilities.

As they were making their way over, Zak tripped.

7:45 PM

Rachel helped the girl with her friend, who had just fallen down and was badly hurt. She seemed really concerned for his health.

"What is your name?" Rachel asked.

"Leila. Leila Metals. I haven't dropped my last name yet," Leila answered. "My sister's here too, her name's Ella."

"You married?" Rachel asked.

"Yeah. Isn't he the best?"

Rachel glanced over to the Verin she was helping.

"Him?"

"Yep!" Leila said, giving a small smile.

Rachel finished up and returned to the register.

"The two, after rescuing their friend Unten, decided to get together..."

The others piled into the gas station. Ella looked at the TV.

"Oh hey, that's Strafe's father!" she said, bewildered.

"Yeah, that's him..." said Strafe, not putting any emotion in his voice.

Rachel turned over to Ella, then looked back to the TV.

"The relationship did not last long, as she left him for some strange reason. The shadowy duplicates weren't seen again in New York, and for a while, there was peace. But not in Lock..."

"Typical. Make a interesting documentary and then shift the focus over to something flat and boring." Rachel turned off the TV.

Airbella was being helped into the backroom by Peira and Teardrop.

"Woah, what are you two doing?"

Teardrop just gave her a look that let her know that this was serious business.

Rachel decided that she needed a drink. She had the feeling this was going to be a long day.
