YoshiEgg & Bloop: The Fatal Tournament is a game by Bomb Productions Games. Being a Bomb Production, please do not edit except for spelling errors. It is the fifth installment in the popular YoshiEgg & Bloop sub-series of games and is for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS, PC, Hybrid Delta, and NextGen Bluevolt, all of which have their own achievement systems implemented for the game. Its Wii version is also compatible with the Wii Zapper, and its online mode is taken with few upgrades directly from its predecessor, YoshiEgg & Bloop: Cove of Thieves. Unlike Cove of Thieves, The Fatal Tournament goes back to its roots and takes place in space. It is set to release on December 23rd, in the pattern of Cove of Thieves and the first game in its sub-series, YoshiEgg & Bloop: A Crack in Time. The game also features an abundance of downloadable content.
YoshiEgg & Bloop: The Fatal Tournament is a third-person shooter with some platforming elements, not unlike its predecessors. The Fatal Tournament goes back to YoshiEgg & Bloop: Laser Tagged's general gameplay, however, with all characters that are not enemies (including in its online mode) possessing Laser Absorbers. These Absorbers, however, deal shock damage on impact of each hit, rather than possessing a counter that goes down from each hit and then deals damage when it reaches zero. Each character possesses a range of weapons, which he or she can buy and sell at Weapon Shops and organize in their arsenals, as well as Items, which they can also buy, sell, and organize. The HUB area in this game is the Laser Combat Space Station S-18, which is rather large and has many Item and Weapon shops. Since this game is possibly the most combat-heavy of its sub-series, the landmark of the Space Station is its enormous Training Arena in its center. This is where the player can fight waves of enemies in training sessions, and also re-battle bosses that they have already fought. Each planet, or level, possesses different terrains and many waves of enemies, to which the player(s) must pummel through in order to get to the next wave. Once all waves are finished, the player(s) reaches the Planet Champion, or boss, to which the player must also battle in order to reach the end of the level and get back to the HUB. At some point on each planet, there is a character that must be rescued, which the player must either find in a secret location and/or defeat a horde/wave of enemies to get to. This character can be played as after rescued.
In the Mushroom World, a powerful and corrupt alien politician known as Drazo Fretz came to spread the news of his campaign to become President of the Universe. Drazo had not been doing so well in his campaign, despite already having a significant amount of power in this part of the universe, so he decided to gain more supporters. However, Drazo had realized, the reason he had not been doing so well in his campaign is that no one really knew about or acknowledged his initial power. Since no one knew of his power, no one respected him. Therefore, Drazo had concocted a secret plan to gather the greatest warriors of the Mushroom World and pit them against other champions from other planets in a galactic sport based on Laser Tag. Drazo liked to call this sport Fatal Tag, as the object was to fight hordes of enemies and the other players to the death. If he could show the Universe that he could make even the best of heroes crumble, they would, he thought, respect and fear him enough to elect him President. Unable to find the heroes he was initially looking for, Drazo set his sights on two, possibly greater heroes: YoshiEgg Nook and Bloop. Upon approaching the heroes, however, they declined. So, secretly enraged by the rejection, Drazo took YE and Bloop by force, kidnapping their friends and placing them captive on the planets YE and Bloop needed to battle upon as a source of motivation. So, without any choice, YoshiEgg and Bloop reluctantly sprung into action and played the politician's deadly game...
