Final Smash Landmaster/Star Wolf

Wolf makes his second appearance as a playable character to the Super Smash Bros. franchise in Super 5mash Bros. 5. Wolf was not included in the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS roster but returned as a returning veteran to the Star Fox franchise and marks his first time as a starting character. He has a couple new moves and abilities that he did not have before. Aesthetically, he appears in an updated form that resembles his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Changes from SSB4

  • New customs
  • Neutral special is changed to "Wolf Blaster" and can be charged.
    • Side Special changes to Wolf Carnage.
    • Up Special name change to Shining Wolf.

Moveset

Special Custom Set A

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Wolf Blaster 3% (gun), 2%-5% (laser), 8% (charged blast) Wolf shoots one shot from his blaster. He can also perform a charge blast by holding down the special button.
Custom 1 Speed Wolf Blaster 2% (gun), 1%-3% (laser) Delivers a much faster blast attack that is more like Fox's blaster.
Custom 2 Wolf Bayonet 7% (gun), 3% (laser) Wolf dashes forward slightly at a fixed range and slashes with his gun while firing a close shot. Does two hits with the cut first followed by the blast.
Side Special Wolf Carnage 6% (tackle), 3% (rip) Wolf leaps forward and grabs a hold of the first character. Pressing the special button repeatedly causes Wolf to slash at the opponent with his claws.
Custom 1 Wolf Flash 3% (sourspot), 16% (sweetspot) Wolf dashes forward diagonally. It has a sweet spot at the end of the attack that does more damage,
Custom 2 Wolf Tackle 13% (close), 7% (far) Wolf dashes forward horizontally and doesn't have a sweetspot but does less damage further away then up close.
Up Special Shining Wolf 8% Wolf propels himself by spinning rapidly and kicking forward. It knocks opponents upwards and then a final hit. He does not catch opponent son fire but has an electrical effect on opponents.
Custom 1 Phantom Wolf 3% Does less damage but has better control of his movements; faster, and longer recovery. He passes by opponents instead and only does hitstun.
Custom 2 Wild Wolf 12% Does more damage slower with a lot of lag. However, it has a wide hit box and launches opponents with high knockback when they make contact.
Down Special Reflector 5% (start up); reflected attacks do x1.5 the usual damage Wolf activates the reflector on his back. Has very low start up and low end lag, and has decent knockback, sending the opponents diagonally upwards.
Custom 1 Prototype Reflector 5% (start up); reflected attacks do x2.5 the usual damage Instead of reflecting projectiles back; it launches them in a random direction with increase damage.
Custom 2 Negating Reflector 4% The attack nullifies other projectiles and will damage nearby opponents. It does not reflect projectiles.

Special Custom Set B

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Kinetic Klaw 9% (clean), 6% (late), 2% (electricity) Wolf holds back and then slashes his claw downwards. It leaves a trail of crackling energy that can damage opponents. This attack is very effective against shields.
Custom 1 Dashing Kinetic Klaw 6% (clean), 4% (late), 5% (electricity) Wolf dashes forward while leaving a trail of electricity that does damage when it comes into contact. He then slashes forward; dealing less damage than before but can be used for recovery. Wolf stops if he makes contact with an opponent.
Custom 2 Bursting Kinetic Klaw 7% (clean), 3% (late), 7% (electricity) Wolf slashes forward. The claw attack pushes opponents back and causes a line of electricity of shoot up from the ground; damaging and launching opponents upwards.
Side Special Terror Wolf 4% (upwards dash), 8% (neutral special), 8% (up special), 8% (side special), 8% (down special) Wolf dashes a diagonal angle; carrying the opponent with him. Pressing the neutral special will cause Wolf to claw the opponent int he air; knocking them diagonally up. Pressing side special causes Wolf to kick them away from him. Pressing up special cause Wolf to slash the opponent upwards. Finally, down special causes Wolf to descend down with the opponent; slashing downwards. These hits only connect if Wolf manages to grab an opponent.
Custom 1 Terror Wolf Chain 4% (upwards dash), 8% (neutral special), 8% (up special), 8% (side special), 8% (down special), 5% (neutral special), 5% (up special), 5% (side special), 5% (down special) Much like the default but inputting the attack is available even without an opponent. The attack still carries opponents but it does less damage and is treating as a late attack.
Custom 2 Terror Wolf Spark 4% (upwards dash), 10% (neutral special), 10% (up special), 10% (side special), 10% (down special) The attack does sweetspots during the specials only if the first hit connected right at the end of Wolf's forward will travel where it transitions between the dash and the specials.
Up Special Teleportation Beam 1.5% (per hit) Wolf engages the Teleportation Beam which extends down like Thunder. When it reaches him, he vanishes along with the beam and then appears based on where the player indicated through the control stick. It has more horizontal recovery distance than vertical distance. The beam does hitstun damage and cause opponents to hover slightly when hit in the air.
Custom 1 Teleportation Rapid Beam 0% It doesn't do any damage but it is much quicker upon activation and extended reach.
Custom 2 Multi-Teleporter 0% Instead of teleporting once, it can teleport twice. It teleports Wolf upwards and pressing right or left will teleport him to a horizontal plane.
Down Special Wolf Grenade 6% (incendiary grenade), 4% (cyro grenade), 8% (shock grenade), 15% (high blast grenade), 2% (per hit - Gravity Grenade), and 3% (stun grenade) Wolf can pick between 6 grenades to throw: Incendiary Grenades, Cyro Grenades, Shock Grenades, High Blast Grenades, Gravity Grenades, and Stun Grenades. He can select one by pressing down special once which will show which grenade is chosen by the color emanating from him. Each grenade has a different property and style: Incendiary is red and causes continuous flame damage after exploding. Cryo Grenades has a chance of freezing opponents. Sock Grenades does many hitstun and damage when it explodes. High Blast has a high damage output and knockback but is slower to explode than the others. Gravity Grenades draws in opponents while damaging them. Stun Grenades damage slightly and causes a daze effect. Wolf can only be subjected to the effects of these grenades.
Custom 1 Chance Grenades 7% (incendiary grenade), 6% (cyro grenade), 10% (shock grenade), 17% (high blast grenade), 4% (per hit - Gravity Grenade), and 5% (stun grenade) The grenades do more damage but they are randomized with the Incendiary and High Blast Grenade be less common. The effects are also increased with longer durations.
Custom 2 Friendly Grenades 4% (incendiary grenade), 2% (cyro grenade), 6% (shock grenade), 12% (high blast grenade), 1.5% (per hit - Gravity Grenade), and 2% (stun grenade) Does less damage but is won't damage Wolf. Also, quicker with less lag.

Final Smash

Name Damage Description
Final Smash 1 Landmaster 5% (take off), 15% (landing), 9-20% (ramming), 15% (barrel roll), 16% (shot) Wolf calls in his Landmaster tank. The attacks of the tank have immense knockback and speed, and is great for edgeguarding or even meteoring opponents off the edge. As it flies, it can Star KO any unlucky opponent. The shots from the tank can cover the entire range of any stage and have immense knockback, even at low percentages. The move lasts a few seconds, but leaves Wolf completely invincible.
Final Smash 2 Star Wolf 15% (blast), 25% (slam) Wolf vanishes and summons Star Wolf. Wolf, Panther, and Leon appear in Wolfens and begin blasting the stage. Pressing special causes blasts and forward special will cause the Wolfen to ram forward. After a duration of time, the Final Smash ends.

Taunts

Italics means they have to be unlocked.

  • Leans back and howls. (Up)
  • Does three kicks while spinning on his foot and says “What’s the matter? Scared?” (Right)
  • Slashes several times and says “You’re dead.” and then points his thumb down. (Left)
  • Kneels down, slaps his claws on the ground, and growls. (Down)

Character Selection Screen

  • Wolf howls and slashes forward.
  • Wolf growls and brandishes his claws.
  • Wolf pulls out his gun and fires it upwards.

On Screen Appearance

  • Wolf jumps out of his Wolfen as it flies on its side.
  • Wolf materializes via teleportation.
  • Wolfen arrives in a dark purple space pod and climbs out.

Victory Animations

  • Faces away from the screen, raises his arm, an d says “Weaklings, the lot of you.”
  • Claws the air twice, pauses and then kicks while saying “I will be the one to take you down.”
  • Leans forward and snarls, then stands up straight, crosses, his arms, and laughs.

When playing against Fox he says “Playtime’s over, Fox.”

  • Wolf kicks several times in the air and then howls out loudly.
  • Wolf pulls out his blaster and aims it several times and says “My trigger finger is itchy.”
  • Wolf appears alongside Panther and Leon and they fold their arms while laughing.

Losing Animation

  • Wolf is seen scowling while clapping.
  • Wolf is pounding his fist together while growling.
  • Wolf is holding his head while panting.

Victory Fanfare

A flourished remix based a small excerpt from the " Star Wolf Theme".

Idle Poses

  • Slashes at the air.
  • Slashes at the air and pretends to howl.
  • Presses his scouter which beeps.
  • Steps forward and growls.

Trophies

Wolf's trophies can be earned by completing Classic Mode, Adventure Mode, All-Star Mode, and Boss Battle mode. In addition, further trophies can be found during matches and at the Trophy Shop.
