One day, Wingman is playing on the mini-golf course he made by himself. When he takes his first swing, the ball flies all the way to Volture's Fortress, breaking the window, and bonking Volture on the head. Furious, Volture flies down to Wingman, picks him up with his talons and takes Wingman back to his fortress. He locks Wingman up in a cage along with several other birds. Wingman shakes his cage around but a nearby bird named Sleek warns him that his cage will fall and Volture will hear the crash. Wingman responds saying that he wants to free himself and all of the trapped birds. Sleek allows Wingman to escape, and Wingman falls along with the cage. However, he quickly lands on the ground and catches the cage and gently sets it down on the ground. He then says he will fly up to the other birds' cages and free them, but Sleek says they refuse to be let out until Volture is defeated. Wingman states it is his duty to save all the birds. He discovers the door to the first world is open, so he heads inside. He bumps into a scentist lobster named Professor Pinchy. Pichy claims to have magic hearing powers and knows that Wingman wants to save the birds, and invites him back to his lab. Pinchy explains that there are 100 "Koins" scattered throughout the worlds, and once they are all collected they can be traded in for a medal. He also says there is a purple kangaroo named Zuber that will challenge anyone with a medal to a minigame. If you successfully complete the minigame, Zuber will give you a Magic Stone that can be placed in the world's castle door, opening up the door leading to the boss. When the boss is defeated, you will receive a key, that opens up the next world and so on and so on. Wingman understands, and embarks on his adventure.
