Whomps are a possible sub-species of Thwomp that attacks Mario by falling face first on the ground to crush Mario. Mario can defeat it by ground-pounding its back.

Game AppearancesEdit

New Super Mario Bros. D.I.Y.Edit

Whomps appear for a second time in a New Super Mario Bros. game in New Super Mario Bros. D.I.Y. A boss called Mega Whomp appears in the game, a beta boss in the original New Super Mario Bros.


Super Mario Galaxy 2Edit

Whomps appear yet again in Super Mario Galaxy 2.  they are very rare and only appear in fortress levels.  In this game, they have a small weak point which is the only place Mario can ground pound to destroy them.  A smaller whomp subspecies also appears here, known as the Whimp, that can only take some of Mario's health away instead of all of it due to their size.  They also break as soon as they attack since they are fragile.


Super Mario Galaxy 2.5Edit

In Super Mario Galaxy 2.5, Whomps reappear. Mario can defeat them by ground pounding on their back, crushing them. They mostly appear in fortress levels and their is also a new species of Whomp called the Spiky Whomp, which is brown. It has spikes on it's back so that if Mario tries to ground pound on them, he will be damaged. He can only defeat them by ground pounding with a Rainbow Star.
