"How would I know if Allison told anyone about her ability?" Altmanti replied to Mayor Mount's question over the phone.
"Ask your son."
"What would he know about her?"
"Please, Vincent, don't disrespect my position. My secret police have seen them together all around town for the past two months. You and Adam are holding out on me. What are they doing together?"
"I'm sorry, Gerald, I just found out today. Apparently they've been dating for that long. Judging by you mentioning Adam, I'm assuming he wouldn't tell you?"
"No, but if the kids were keeping it secret, I doubt he knows; he told me that Allison isn't allowed to date."
"Hmm...interesting. We'll, I'm sorry, but I have to go-"
"Wait. So Dyllan knows about Allison?"
"Yeah. But that is the best of possible scenarios, isn't it? Two kids who need to keep the same secret know about each other. No difference."
"If you say so, Vincent. We'll be in touch."
"Yes Gerald. We will."
Vincent hung up the phone. Turning around, he found Dyllan standing right behind him.
"Who was that?"
"...The mayor. Mount."
"I know who the mayor is. Why would he want to know about me and Allison? Do you just hand out information to the highest governing body in town about your own son's relationshi-"
"That's enough accusing your father! You want to know why I was talking to the mayor about you? Go ahead and get your abilities noticed by the public! Get caught by the Mikul Corporation! Then I'll have to bring him along to save your ass!"
"I don't need any saving!!" Dyllan yelled, blasting light energy from his hands into his father. Vincent went flying into the wall behind him.
In a short period of shock and anger, Vincent's hands crackled with bright blue streaks of lightning. Then, they died down, and he stood, looking as if he traded his shocked expression with Dyllan.
"D...Dad...you...have an ability, too?"
"You know nothing about me, or my relationship with the mayor. Don't question my doing anymore. Go to your room. We'll talk about this when the inevitable need for the information comes."
Mikul Corp. - Building 0 Penthouse Office
"Dr. Merevet Dontori is requesting permission to come up." The receptionist spoke over the intercom.
"Granted. Let him in." Mikul replied.
After a few minutes, Dr. Dontori emerged from the elevator. Mikul was waiting for him.
"So, I assume you being here means you have something good to share with me."
"I think we have a lead on who took that video. Even better, Halete didn't find the video at all, this guy sent it to him with specific instruction for him to show it to you. We checked the email logs. This guy is real deep in what you and your father are doing. On some standards, he might even be better-"
"Alright, then. Who is he?"
"Evell Holder. Lives on the other side of the country, somewhere near Las Vegas."
"No other personal information, but just as something to note, apparently his name is present in your father's records."
"Just in a random list with other names. The only similarity between them is the "ll" sequence of letters; every name has two "l"s somewhere within it.
"What is it?"
"...Nothing. Well, we've got no time to waste." Mikul called the receptionist.
"Yes, sir, Dr. Mikul?"
"Can you get Altmanti to book the next flight out of Peace Key Airport to Las Vegas for me?"
"Are you sure you won't be bothering him at this our?"
"I know what I'm doing. Leave a message if he doesn't pick up."
The conversation ended and Mikul looked at Dontori confidently. "Ready for a trip?"
"Always, Dr. Mikul. Let's find our little time traveler..."
9:00 A.M. the next day
"He wants you to book a trip to Las Vegas for him? Why are you telling me?"
"You know why, Adam. The video. Who do we know that's in Las Vegas that would be able to take such footage?"
"Oh...shit!! You need to speak to Gerald immediately."
"I tried...he isn't picking up."
"Then we need to go to City Hall and tell him ourselves. You free for the day?"
