VOLT Fusion is a 2.5D platforming game in the VOLT series developed by Accele for the Nintendo 3DS and Immerse Go. It takes place after VOLT: Storming The Castle. The game features Volt and Hailey, plus a new playable character named Torchie, on a quest to stop the main villain, Mother Brain, who has captured the Sparklings and is intending on controlling them. The gameplay features new concepts that showcase the power of the Nintendo 3DS and the Immerse Go.
Volt and Hailey are interrupted by mysterious invaders and they have captured the Sparklings and are intending on destroying their planet, with a new friend named Torchie, Volt goes on another electrifying adventure to stop the villain, Mother Brain.
Volt and Hailey are playing with each other when robot grunts suddenly attack them and use "Capture Cubes" that capture the Sparklings and suck them into a portal, Volt is then knocked out along with Hailey.
A few minutes later, the two Sparklings wake up and find that everyone is gone, but a red like Sparkling attacks Volt and says that he is responsible for the Sparklings being kidnapped, but Hailey tells the Sparkling that it wasn't Volt, and she also asks whats the Sparklings name. The Sparkling replies and says that his name is Torchie, a Sparkling who has flame like powers. Volt then asks if Torchie will come along with him to rescue the Sparklings, and Torchie agrees. After that, the 3 Sparklings head to rescue the captured Sparklings and stop a new evil.
Chapter 1: A New Adventure
- Control Stick: Move
- A: Jump
- B: Use enemy's ability
- Y: Fuse with character
- X: Change character
- Touchscreen: Control nearby enemies (by tapping marks) and do certain puzzles.
- L/R: Zoom in/out
The gameplay is slightly similar to the original VOLT but features new mechanics. Volt has a health system and can lose lives by being hit by an enemy or obstacle or failing a puzzle. Volt is able to restore health by collecting spark balls, and can increase the amount of hearts by collecting Thunderhearts, hard to find items. The title "fusion" is actually a gimmick in the game, Volt is able to combine strengths with either Hailey or Torchie at any time to solve certain puzzles. Volt can also swap with another party member by pressing X. There is also a map on the bottom screen, small marks appear sometimes, they indicate if the player can enter a enemy or machines circuits. When the player enters a enemy or machines circuits, the player goes through a minigame like phase on the touchscreen, if the player fails to complete it, they will take damage.
Some enemies are returning, and some are new and upgraded.
