Fantendo - Game Ideas & More

Well, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS's round of DLC is officially over with! And I'm fine with what we got. We got Mewtwo, Lucas, and Roy back for people who missed them, and then Ryu, Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta as the final newcomers! We got new stages, old stages, and even new Mii Fighter costumes. So in the 7 years until Smash 5 comes out for the Nintendo ???, why not hope and be bitchy about the fact your characters not getting in?

...Nah.

But in all honesty, these are just my ideas for potential future Smash Bros. fighters! And keep in mind, half of these most likely will never get in! It's just some silly stupid ideas I had for a potential roster in an upcoming game. OK? OK. Let's go!

Honorable Mentions[]

  • All Of Those Top Voted Characters: You know the ones I'm talking about. Isaac, Inkling, K. Rool, Ridley, Shantae, Shovel Knight, Waluigi, etc. There's only going to be ONE of them on here, and even then, I haven't seen him on any Top 10 lists before, so maybe he wasn't as highly voted as I thought. But still!
  • All Cut Veterans: As cool as it would be to see Snake and Young Link again, I wanna save these spots for newcomers.
  • Chibi-Robo: He has potential, but since his latest game didn't sell well, and Nintendo said they'd basically kill him off if it didn't sell well, I can only see him going as far as a trophy or an Assist Trophy.
  • Hoopa: I really wanted to add Hoopa to the list, but by the time SSB5 comes out, Hoopa will be old news. As much as I want him in the game, he just won't make it in.
  • Arcade Bunny: Same reasons as Hoopa.
  • And...No New Pokemon or Fire Emblem Lords: Another reason for Hoopa's exclusion. We don't know what new characters will come to each series. And with Corrin just added, that just bogs that down even more.

With that out of the way, let's get the list going!

As I said, I'm not including Ridley on the list. For one, I'm with Sakurai: he'd be way too hard to implement to a game like Smash. Then again, I want another Metroid rep. But...who? Well, as you all know, the Ice Climbers were removed for Smash 4. So what if you take Samus and mixed her with the ice abilities of the Ice Climbers and then put the abomination into Smash? Well, you'd get Rundas.

Rundas

Rundas is a bounty hunter who OBVIOUSLY masters fire-bending. Right? Wrong. Rundas was born on the moon Phrygis. His species is known to be able to generate ice, making Rundas a unique idea for a fighter. He'd be able to fly on ice streams, making pillars of ice, shoot out ice, and obviously...use ice. Rundas would be extremely powerful, but unlike other powerful characters like Ganondorf, he'd have *gasp* decent speed! One weakness would be his aerial mobility, as he can't exactly zip around like Wario or puff up like Kirby. His recovery would be like Corrin's: Good if used at a certain point.

Rundas is at the back of the list due to his likeliness, which is none. Unless we get a Metroid Prime 3 remake in 2017, he ain't gonna be in the world of relavance. Not to mention that Sylux would most likely take his place.

But now, let's move on!

Sakurai LOVES adding retro 80's Nintendo characters into Smash Bros. In Melee, we got Ice Climbers and Mr. Game & Watch. In Brawl, we got ROB. And in Smash 4, we got Duck Hunt. All of these have technically originated in video games...well, except for ROB. (And if you count Duck Hunt having a light shooter toy coming out before the game, then him too.) So why not have a hybrid...of both? A magazine mascot who appeared into a few games, but was still made by Nintendo?...OK, fuck it. It's Nester.

Nestertheunlikely

For those who don't know, Nester was the mascot for the now-concluded magazine, Nintendo Power. And in my idea, his moveset could let him be a walking Nintendo reference. He'd use his Power Glove for all the powerful hits, a "Master Sword" for close ranged attacks, and a Zapper for far ranged combat. In addition, he appeared in Pilotwings 64 as Lark, so for his recovery he could use the jetpack from that game. Due to the jetpack, he'd have great aerial mobility, but he wouldn't be able to move around horizonantally that well. His speed would be decent enough, and depending on the weapon you have in your hand, his power varies. Nester would be a jack of all trade, and he'd be decent at all his talents!

Of course, do you actually see him getting in? Sheriff, Excitebiker, Takamaru...all of them have better chances than Nester! So that's why he's this low on the list.

Somewhere in Smash 5, I predict that at least ONE Assist Trophy will get The Little Mac Treatment. You know, go from Assist Trophy to playable character. And while this character most likely won't get that treatment...it'd be cool if Isabelle got in.

IsabelleACaF

"She'd just be a Villager clone!," I hear you say. Well, if they added her, they'd probably do that, but still! They could do so much with Isabelle. For one, her assisting move, throwing things, could be incorporated into her moveset. She could throw bags of Bells that are heavy but have horrible distance. She can toss fruit that hits an opponent, bounce back at her, and then she can eat it and heal up a bit. Finally, she can toss a beehive that has mediocre range, but sends out bees that attack enemies. In order to balance the OP move, though, Isabelle can't use anymore beehives without a certain amount of damage, like Lucario and his aura. Isabelle is terrible in the air, but great on the ground. She doesn't have the same hard-hitting moves like Captain Falcon, but she's pretty good for fast players!

Again, I don't see her getting in with The Little Mac Treatment. If anything, Waluigi would be more likely. Not to mention if they DID add her, she'd most likely be a Villager clone with a few different moves.

The Legend of Zelda got the shaft in SSB4. No new reps, Zelda and Ganondorf are still horrible, and Zelda and Sheik had to be seperated! So for Smash 5, let's add a new Zelda rep!...But who? Well, like Corrin, let's throw everyone off guard!

Phantom Zelda

Here's a more unique Toon Zelda! Phantom Zelda would not only be another Zelda, but be very unique in her moveset. In The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Zelda basically gets murdered, leaving her spirit floating around. Instead of doing nothing, though, she can possess a Phantom. So she's extremely slow...like Ganondorf. Unlike Ganondorf, though, she can use a sword in her main attacks. The sword is heavy and powerful, and she can also use a shield to deflect certain attacks. She can also seperate herself from the Phantom and become a floaty strategic fighter that lacks the power the Phantom has.

Why so low? Likeliness. We'll mostly like get a clone Toon Zelda or Impa, Midna, or Ghiriham as a Zelda character. Even if we get none of them, we'll be getting Zelda U soon, so who knows who'll be in that thing?

This character is one of two Mario reps on this list. Unlike the other one, though, he's TECHNICALLY already a Smash Bros. character. While I love his moveset, I agree this character's Final Smash DEFINETLY needs a boost in some way...and Shadow Mario can fix that!

ShadowMario3D Ziegs

Everyone had the idea for this character before Bowser Jr. was leaked and...HOLY SHIT SHADOW MARIO IS IN HIS FINAL SMASH!...for like, two seconds. For me, it could be a Sheik/Zero Suit Samus type character, where you could either switch into him after the Final Smash, or you can switch into him at anytime you want! Shadow Mario is speedier but lighter than the regular Mario, and his paintbruh functions like nothing else in Smash! It would make pitfall-like areas for enemies to step in, small Goo Piranha Plants, and it could be used to just whack people with it! He could still make X's with the paint, which would explode after a few seconds!

Shadow Mario would get into SSB5...if Bowser Jr. returns. If so, he'll probably just be a transformation for his Final Smash and nothing else. If he does get it, it'll be pretty cool!
