NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHING!!
Sonic is seen speeding through Station Square when he notices blue and orange ink streams flowing from a sewage pipe. He drops down into the sewage system of Station Square and Mario then jumps out of an inked pipe to join him, F.L.U.D.D. equipped. They then see two squids at the end of the hallway and give chase. Sonic dodges a few incoming ink attacks while Mario uses F.L.U.D.D. to expose the two squids. The squids transform into 14-year old humanoid versions of themselves which are...Inklings Cover Their Turf! They both fire ink at the screen before it switches over to gameplay.
- A female orange-colored Inkling shakes off some ink before splashing into battle on the new stage Saltspray Rig.
- The same Inkling shoots the Tentatek Splattershot at Mario, who has F.L.U.D.D. shooting at full blast.
- An Inkling uses their up special - Flying Squid - to get out of the way of Greninja and Mario's attacks on Battlefield.
- Two Inklings - one blue-colored male and one orange-colored female - taunt on Sprixie Kingdom.
- The male Inkling from the previous scene uses the Paint Roller to run over Ness on the returning stage Threed.
- The female Inkling then throws an Ink Bomb using her down special, which explodes on Mario and Link.
- The male Inkling transform into the Kraken and sends Mario and Sonic flying on Death Egg Zone.
The Super Smash Bros. Universal Struggle logo appears and the two Inklings are shown having defeating Mario and Sonic. Cap'n Cuttlefish then pops out of a pipe and the two Inklings transform back into squid form and follow the crazed general.
