Basic Story Overview

The game and it's events take place towards the end of the 26th century. Deities are seen as the leaders of the Universal Dimension and are in charge of keeping the dimension running. Most deities are based in the Original Dimension, or the dimension Earth is based in, and either visit the Universal Dimension occasionally to check on things or have completely relocated to the Universal Dimension. Each deity have their own views on the power given to them. Some appreciate it, while others simply abuse it; leading to the conflict between the deities.

Gameplay

Character models and gameplay are a bit unrealistic when compared to other fighting games like Street Fighter V. Of course, this is to be expected from an anime fighter. The models, stage and character included, are 3D on a 2D plane.

The game’s fight system is revealed to be called the Deity System. It is composed of different features including the Keys of the Universe, the Macrocosm Drive, and Alleviation Mend.

Keys of the Universe (KUs)

The Keys of the Universe are keys that can be chosen pre-match and activated occasionally (relatively slow charge time) during the match. Each key gives the character a boost in a certain stat. Want to have your grappler get in faster? then use the High Tempo Key which boosts their speed for a short period of time, but at a cost, lowering their defense attribute. The KU bar is a key-shaped bar. It depletes while it’s in use before it’s fully depleted and can no longer be used till it fully recharges.

Macrocosm Drive

The MD bar is a bar that allows fighters to use stronger versions of their special moves. It charges during the match and depletes when used. There are 3 stages. From the first stage, Macrocosm Moves (basically EX Moves, or stronger versions of special moves) can be used. From the 2nd stage, Macrocosm Drives can be used. At the 3rd stage, Universal Macrocosm Drives (stronger than Macrocosm Drives) can be used. Macrocosm Drives take up the entire bar while EX moves only take up a stage.

Parry

The parry system in Universal Deity is quite similar to that found in Street Fighter 3. When an attack is “parried”, no damage will occur whatsoever. In addition, the person who parried will recover more quickly than the attacker, and will have the opportunity to launch their own attack. Because of this, the parry can often be single-handedly responsible for turning the tide of battle: a player who was on the offensive suddenly gets puts on the defensive, and vice-versa.

There are, however, certain types of attacks which cannot be parried, including throws and command grabs.

The only parry making an appearance in Universal Deity is the high parry which is executed by tapping forward at the exact moment of impact of a high attack or mid attack. If the attack is instead a low attack, the parry will fail and the attack will hit. This can also be done in mid-air.

Alleviation Mend

Alleviation Mend is the game’s infinite combo prevention system. If a combo goes on for long enough, both hit stun and damage are scaled down to 0.

Character Archetypes

Main article: Character Archetypes

There are 4 main categories for a character’s archetype - Regular, Zoner, Grappler, and Dynamic. There are all rounder characters but they can lean towards one group more so the category is more or less a 5th.

Modes

To be added.

Controls

There are only 3 buttons for attacks. X, Y, and Z. X moves are the light moves (usually quick yet weak), Y moves are the medium moves, and Z moves are the heavy moves (slower but the strongest of the 3). One button takes up a taunt. Each character has 3 taunts that can be chosen from in the fighter selection menu. The third taunt is unlocked by getting a perfect against a CPU at Deity level or in a ranked match online. Finally, movement can be mapped to either the D-pad or the joystick (of course on an arcade stick, there are no d-pads).

Soundtrack

Composed by japanese computer music group PuruPuru, the game’s soundtrack is completely dominated by various computer-based genre of music; with the most prominent ones being Future Funk and Electro. Sounds including hitsounds are quite unrealistic and the game’s sound atmosphere is quite a fun one.

Every ost in the game can be chosen to play in the main menu. It should also be noted that some stages have more than 1 ost that plays.
