Ever since her parents' deaths in a car crash ten years ago, Demi Mitad has had strange thoughts planted within her head. While she often put them out of her mind, they slowly invaded her subconsciousness and changed her being. This is evident when one day Demi wakes up with a bloody knife in her hand and a mysterious voice echoing through her mind. Being unable to control the voice in her mind, the being takes over her body and Demi is unable to act on her own.
As Demi's body wreaks havoc through the city, Demi slowly becomes as deranged as the demon in her mind and is eventually unable to tell apart reality from fiction. The more she lets go of reality, the more control she has on her body.
After collecting all 250 Sol Crystals, Bortgång is exorcised from Demi's body. Finally back to reality, she realizes that she had gone on a killing spree, and the monsters she thought she saw were instead the peaceful inhabitants. As the cops close in on her, she stabs herself so she won't have to live with the guilt of death. Doing so frees the remnants of Bortgång trapped inside her, killing the two of them in conjunction.
The game is essentially an open world survival hack-and-slash hybrid. As Demi, the player is able to use various types of weapons to defeat large hoards of enemies using combos unique to the weapon type. Outside of combat, the player is capable of interacting with the area around Demi; allowing her to solve puzzles to get to Sol Crystals or to new weapons.
- The game was originally slated to be exclusively released on the Xbox One. When the game was picked up by Activision, the game's development was shifted to the PlayStation 4 instead. The reason for this is unknown.
