Tsareena, known in Japanese as アマージョ (Amājo), is a Grass-type Pokémon, evolved from Steenee. It is the final form of Bounsweet.

Biology[]

Tsareena is a bipedal, fruit-like Pokémon with a humanoid appearance. It has a purplish torso with petite, fingerless arms and long, powerful legs. These legs have three pointed projections on the upper portion near its hips, and the feet on the lower portion are pointy. Its hips are white and resemble the insides of a mangosteen fruit. Its head is also white, and its face consists of two heavy-lidded eyes with purple irises and long eyelashes. Part of its face is covered by a short ruffle, extended from its torso. On top of its head is a light green calyx, consisting of three long, yellow-spotted sepals that reach to the ankles, and one shorter, curved sepal. The calyx as a whole resembles a hairstyle, with the curved sepal resembling bangs. Growing atop of the calyx is a small, purple fruit resembling a tiny crown with narrow yellow stripes.

Tsareena is a Pokémon of a high class nature that will immediately punish any other Pokémon or human with evil in mind. This attitude is also present under control of its Trainer, as it glares disapprovingly to its Trainer when the latter commands Tsareena to use an ineffective move. Tsareena is a kicking virtuoso and mainly uses these well-honed skills in battle. Additionally, Tsareena emits a fragrance that enthralls the opponent during a battle. Tsareena evolves only from the strongest of Steenee, and when it does, it receives blessing from other Steenee and uses its strength to protect the defenseless Bounsweet. It is said, however, that Tsareena loses its power when the crown-like fruit on its calyx is touched.

St. Clair Publications[]

All canon Pokémon are available in Tropes vs. Women in Pokémon Training; however, Tsareena cannot be obtained in the wild. In the game's Nintendo Switch remake, Tsareena has a regional form that's Fairy/Poison and evolves from Steenee in a different way: leveling up while knowing Fairy Wind. It's a signature Pokémon of Klara, partially owing to the Sanclairia Pokédex outright namedropping her in Steenee's entry.

Its abilities change to Dazzling (essentially the same as Queenly Majesty) and Prankster, and it has Liquid Ooze for a hidden ability. Sanclairian Tsareena is also built to be a special sweeper, rather than a physical one.

Legend has it that anyone who eats Berries produced by this Pokémon develops type 2 diabetes within a week. It's surprisingly childish and throws massive temper tantrums when it loses, refusing to accept defeat.

Trivia[]

Origin[]

Tsareena is based on a mangosteen fruit, and a female monarch, such as a queen. This may be a reference to the mangosteen being also known as the "Queen of the Fruit".

It may also be based on a dominatrix, evidenced by its "high class nature" and "punishing" (and its movepool containing Punishment and Power Whip), as well as the fact that its "legs" resemble crotch-high boots (possibly ballet boots).

Name Origin[]

The English name is a somewhat-obvious corruption of "tsarina" or "czarina", the name of a Russian queen until the Russian Revolution in 1917. The corruption may incorporate the word "mangosteen", the fruit it's based on. Serene and queen may also be incorporated.

The Japanese name comes from 甘い amai (sweet) and 女王 joō (queen)...a word that also happens to be used in Japanese as slang for a dominatrix.
