Toon Link (トゥーンリンク, Toon Link) is a playable veteran in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Toon Link wasn't confirmed until the release of the game, where he was a starter character on the roster. Toon Link was apparently the last character to be in development that wasn't a DLC character. He is once again voiced by Sachi Matsumoto.

Toon Link has received moveset changes in his special moves, to differentiate himself from Young Link, and Triforce Links. He now has moves that reflect his appearance in Wind Waker. However, with all these changes, he still has his "defensive" playstyle.

Changes[]

  • Toon Link now has a smoother appearance. He now holds the Hero Sword, rather than the master sword.
  • Toon Link's jab combo is changed. He now transitions to an upwards swing on the 3rd hit.
  • Forward Smash is now a leaping slash, which resembles Link's forward smash in Smash 64.
  • Down Smash is now the Spin Attack.
  • Neutral Special is now Chubomb. It acts similarly to how it acted in Smash 4 as an item, however, only one can be on the stage at a time.
  • Side Special is now Skull Hammer, a slow yet powerful swing forward.
  • Up Special is now Deku Leaf. On the ground, this makes a gust of wind forwards. In the air, this lifts Toon Link in the air and allows him to float downwards slowly.
  • Down Special is now the Gust Jar. This pulls in opponents, and items, and once it grabs them, Toon Link can push them out as his own projectiles.
  • Final Smash is now Wind's Requiem. This final smash creates gusts of wind that violently move opponents around the stage in 4 directions.
