The Normal Life of Sarah Auvic is a Fantendo - Drive mini-series that was announced at Toroko's Exotoro Entertainment Exclusive 2015. The series follows Sarah Auvic (aka Leah Needlenam) in a world where she was never kidnapped and lived a decent life. As she begins to realize something is off, she begins to break the line between her two identities.

Cast

  • Sarah Auvic/Leah Needlenam - The main character of the series. She gets the feeling is something off, but she's not sure what. Thoughts creep in the back her mind as well, telling her stuff that seems totally true yet is entirely false...
  • Rachel - Sarah's co-worker at the gas station.
  • Ralph - The manager of the gas station. He is a young boy.
  • Mrs. and Mr. Auvic - Sarah's parents. They don't really like that Sarah's in a dead-end job and still living with them, but they still love her.
  • R PHD - A mysterious psychologist who asks to see Sarah to find out what her deal is.
  • Reese - A former friend of Sarah's.

Issues

Issue 1: Retrograde

Young Boy: You're new around here, so I'll go easy on you.
Sarah Auvic: Right, sorry about that.

The gas station floor is covered in broken wine bottles. The young boy hands Sarah a broom and a dustpan.

Young Boy: Just clean it up, alright? Don't do it again.
Sarah Auvic: You got it, Ralph.
-----ᕓᕓᐻᕓᕓᐺᐻᐺᕓᐻᐻᐻᐺᐺᐻᐻᕓᐻᐺ-----
Rachel: Eh, don't worry about Ralph, he's not that hard to deal with if you're not clumsy.
Sarah: Yeah I guess... I don't know... I feel like I've never used my right pinkie correctly, if that makes sense.
Rachel: Guess you better learn quick.
Sarah: I can't even bend it, look at that.
Rachel: Here let me... huh.

Rachel attempts to bend Sarah's right pinkie but can't seem to do so.

Sarah: Weird, right?
Rachel: You got like... a bone of steel in there or something? So weird...
Sarah: Why are we even up this late? Does anyone ever come this late at night?
Rachel: Eh, not usually, but usually the more interesting customers come at this time of night.
Sarah: Crooks?
Rachel: Usually, but sometimes you'll get a dude with a raccoon for a leg or a water bottle lodged in his eye.
Sarah: What happened to the dude with the water bottle lodged in his eye?
Rachel: He doesn't have that eye any more.
Sarah: Oh hey, looks like we got a customer. Heh heh, he's a small fellow.
Rachel: Yeah, wow, he really is short.
Sarah: Watch your head!
Small Man: It's sky high!

Sarah laughs as Rachel rolls her eyes.

-----ᕓᕓᐻᕓᕓᐺᐻᐺᕓᐻᐻᐻᐺᐺᐻᐻᕓᐻᐺ-----

Rachel pours a bottle of water on Sarah's sleeping head.

Sarah: Jeez, what was that for?!
Rachel: You were asleep and Ralph's coming in his truck right about now.
Sarah: Oh.

Ralph enters into the gas station.

Ralph: How was last night?
Rachel: It went fine.
Ralph: New girl didn't sleep on the job did she?
Sarah: No, she did not.
Ralph: That's what I like to hear.

Ralph exits the way he came.

Rachel: So, what are you doing today?
Sarah: I've got to go with my parents on some dinner thing? I got to wear a fancy dress and all that bullshit.
Rachel: Eh, I'm not really doing anything interesting like that. Just pulling out some of the stupid dirt in our backyard and making way for a bird bath.
Sarah: Why would you want one of those?
Rachel: I dunno, my parents want it. See you later today I guess?
Sarah: Right.
-----ᕓᕓᐻᕓᕓᐺᐻᐺᕓᐻᐻᐻᐺᐺᐻᐻᕓᐻᐺ-----

Sarah stands at the mirror, looking at her self. That reflection doesn't seem to be the ones in her pictures. A woman with sagging eyes and frayed purple hair stares back at her.

Mrs. Auvic: Come on Sarah, we have to go.
Sarah: I'm coming, god.

Sarah takes one last look at the mirror and heads downstairs, ending the issue.

Issue 2: And the Future Never Comes

Sarah sits at a dinner table as the guest of honor arrives, R PHD, a physiologist, to the room to great applause.

R PHD: I want to point out first that I am very honored to be here this evening.
Sarah: Who is this guy?
Mr. Auvic: It's R PHD, he's one of the greatest physiologists in the world. His full name is quite a mystery, but you know how some of the world's greatest geniuses are...
Sarah: No, I don't.
Mr. Auvic: Well maybe if you weren't stuck working at a gas station you would know.
Sarah: Dad, not here. Come on.
R PHD: And the future never comes. What comes is always... here now.
Sarah: Are you talking to us?
R PHD: I can tell you're one to keep putting the future far away from you. And yet you worry so much about it...
Sarah: How the hell can you even tell?
R PHD: What comes is always here now. I suppose it would not be too much to ask to schedule an appointment?
Sarah: There's nothing wrong with me!
R PHD: Couldn't hurt, now could it?
Mr. Auvic: Well, he's right.
Sarah: Dad, he just wants your money. Come on.
R PHD: It's fine, I suppose. It was a bit out of my jurisdiction, maybe.

Mrs. and Mr. Auvic whisper into each others ears.

Mr. Auvic: One session.
Sarah: Dad!
Mr. Auvic: You have been acting rather strange lately. It's not going to kill you.
Sarah: UGH!
----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----
Sarah: Do I really have to dance?
Mrs. Auvic: Yes. Come on, boys.
Sarah: That's not really that inciting.
Mrs. Auvic: Why are you always backtalking me? Come on, dance with that boy over there. The one with blond hair?
Sarah: Reese?
Mrs. Auvic: Oh yeah, Reese. Didn't you play with him as a kid?
Sarah: Used to.
Mrs. Auvic: Come on, go already.
Sarah: Fine, mom!
----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----

Sarah forces her hands into Reese and starts slow dancing in a sarcastic manner.

Reese: ...ok.
Sarah: Sorry, my mom forced me into this.
Reese: No it's-
Sarah: You're not slick, dude.
Reese: ...right.
----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----
Sarah: Ugh, glad that's over.
R PHD: Don't forget our appointment tommorow, alright?
Sarah: Oh yeah... that.
R PHD: Alright, see ya.

The issue ends as Sarah looks in her pocket to find a note crumbled up. Unfolding it, Sarah sees that it says "Clair de Lune". She folds it back up, walking out of the house into the car and looks at the moon. It's been a full moon for two days now.

Issue 3: The Trouble

Sarah drops her bag as she lays back on a couch. R PHD sits on a chair with a notebook and pen.

R PHD: Typically we don't do the "lay back on a coach and talk about your life" thing anymore, but you really insisted on it.
Sarah: What, are you judging me?
R PHD: No, not at all. You do whatever you feel comfortable with.
Sarah: Alright then...

Sarah closes her eyes and tries to flash back.

Unten stares out into the space, watching as the alternate timelines fall apart.

The Fan: That's what's left of the Fantendoverse. It's all broken.
Unten: We can't live like this...!
The Fan: The Fantendoverse is pretty much shattered beyond repair, yes.
The Enemy: We have decided to create a new universe.
The Fan: This is where things get kind of complicated.
The Enemy: Most of you will not remember what happened. The friendships you have made, the developments you have made as of late... most of them will be forgotten.
Unten: Why?
The Fan: The memories of the past universe cannot haunt the new one.
The Enemy: Your revelations will still impact your new selves.
Leah: Please don't make me forget my mistakes.
The Fan: Hmm?
Leah: I... I fucked up. I was too controlling with X-Ray. Look at me.

She forms herself into a horrifying form.

Leah: I was so set out to please myself that I lost what was important. I don't want to make those same mistakes again.
The Fan: I guess we permit you to do so.
----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----
R PHD: Sarah, don't tell me about "Leah". Tell me about yourself.
Sarah: I don't even know where that came from... sorry.

Sarah sits upright.

Sarah: Truth be told... I'm not sure why I'm here.
R PHD: Well, your parents told me you were acting rather strange. Mind explaining that?
Sarah: I guess... I don't know... I haven't really felt in my own skin recently...
R PHD: And why might that be?
Sarah: I dunno.
R PHD: Any possible childhood traumas?
Sarah: My mom has been kind of accused of having an affair with my hair color but I mean... that didn't really disturb me.
R PHD: Tell me about your mom then.
Sarah: I mean... she's alright I suppose. She's kind of controlling sometimes.
R PHD: Do you hate a lack of control?
Sarah: I honestly... kind of do, now that I think about it...
R PHD: What does she control?
Sarah: Really my whole schedule really... she wants me to find a "nice boy" too but I... don't think I'm interested.
R PHD: What makes you say that?
Sarah: Uh...

Sarah looks uncomfortable.

Sarah: Jeez... I dunno if I want to say what I'm about to say to you... what if my mom finds out...
R PHD: I'm here to help you, not tell your mom stuff. I can keep it a secret.
Sarah: Okay...

Sarah takes a deep breath.

Sarah: I work at a gas station, right? There's this girl there...

Sarah looks at R PHD, who looks back at her.

Sarah: Aw jeez... okay... I think she's... attractive?
R PHD: So you like her.
Sarah: Yeah. I could never tell her that though... I don't want to you know... sabotage the relationship.
R PHD: Yeah, I get it.
Sarah: You promise you won't tell anyone?
R PHD: I wouldn't tell anyone.
Sarah: Feels nice getting that out of my chest, I guess.
R PHD: So you feel like you're being forced into a life you don't really want.
Sarah: I guess... I think about the future a lot.
R PHD: Yeah, your mom has noted that.
Sarah: I'm scared of it, I guess. I feel like something awful is gonna happen... and I don't know how to prevent it.
R PHD: The future scares you?
Sarah: I guess. More so than anything else.
R PHD: Interesting. Well, I think we got a lot out of the way... see you next week, Miss Auvic.
Sarah: Thank... you, actually. I think I realized some stuff today.
----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----

Sarah and Rachel sit in the back of Rachel's yard on the porch.

Sarah: I found this note in my pocket. It says "Clair de Lune".
Rachel: Let me Google that...
Sarah: No... it's okay.
Rachel: Hmm? Clair de Lune is French for "light of the moon"... maybe you need to read it by the light of the moon.
Sarah: That's dumb... that wouldn't work.
Rachel: Maybe you should try it. You're never sure what works until you try it.

Rachel gets up to grab glasses of lemonade while Sarah stares at the paper alone.

Issue 4: No Worries

Sarah sits by her window. Another full moon.

Sarah: Let's see here...

Sarah holds the paper up to the moon. The paper's words are revealed to her.

No Worries.

Sarah: No worries?

She remembers a song in her head...

Sarah: Your dream... came true.
----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----

Sarah sits outside the gas station half an hour before it opens. She can't get the song out of her mind and it's killing her to know what it is. Ralph's car pulls up to the gas station.

Ralph: You're here early.
Sarah: Sorry, just... not getting a lot of sleep.
Ralph: So why did you come here then?
Sarah: I thought walking... and then driving... would help me out a bit but it's just made me restless.
Ralph: What's on your mind?
Sarah: A song. I think it's called "No Worries" but I'm not sure. I can't... find any trace of it elsewhere.
Ralph: Sounds like you should take it's advice.

Ralph unlocks the store door.

Sarah: What are you doing here, anyway?
Ralph: Me? Just setting up for the day. Gotta turn on the lights and all that stuff.
Sarah: Right.
Ralph: See ya.

Sarah sits on the steps, reciting the lyrics from heart.

Your dream came true...
Is it to know out of the day,
that I was Uninvited but I...
Found a girl and you're...
Your dreams came true
Nothing compares
No worries...

Rachel's car pulls up into the parking lot.

Rachel: Hey Sarah.
Sarah: ...hey.
Rachel: Something wrong?
Sarah: No...

She thinks about it for a minute as Rachel enters the gas station store. Her eyes open, bags under them from lack of sleep. She walks in.

Sarah: I... think I do have something to tell you.
Rachel: And what's that?
Sarah: I...

Her hands begin shaking. She moves towards the counter, looking as if she's going to be sick.

Rachel: Jeez, are you okay?
Sarah: I'm going... to be fine... just let me say what I have to say...
Nothing compares
No worries...
Sarah: I've been working with you for a long...

She pauses for a brief moment.

Rachel: ...time.
Sarah: Time, yeah. And in that...

She freezes up again.

Rachel: ...time.

Sarah swallows hard as she looks at Rachel.

Sarah: Time, yeah. I've just... been...
Rachel: Sarah, you can just say it, I won't be mad. No worries.
Nothing compares
No worries...
Sarah: I...

Sarah freezes up again. Tears start coming out of her eyes.

Sarah: ...I can't do it!

Sarah rushes out of the gas station store in tears as Rachel watches on with concern. Sarah gets in her car and drives off, drying her tears off as she heads onto the early morning road.

Sarah: I can't do it...

She stops at a frozen yogurt place's parking lot and just sobs.

Sarah: I blew it.

She looks at the lamp post to the left and then places her head back on the steering wheel. She swallows hard again.

Sarah: I blew it!

She slams her head into the steering wheel, the horn sounding as she jumps back in shock. She breathes heavy for a moment before realizing someone is tapping at her window. She rolls it down to see a blue haired woman, one eye covered by her hair.

Sarah: Who are you?
Woman: I'm X-Ray.

Issue 5: Clair De Lune

Sarah and X-Ray sit together at a table outside the frozen yogurt shop. Sarah picks at her meal with a spoon as X-Ray finishes her up with haste.

X-Ray: Are you gonna finish that up soon?
Sarah: Yeah, yeah... just... give me a minute.
X-Ray: What's wrong?
Sarah: Nothing... I just blew it.
X-Ray: Blew what?
Sarah: Nothing. I'll be fine.
X-Ray: Hey, I know what will cheer you up.
Sarah: What?
X-Ray: Finish that frozen yogurt up and I'll tell where you to go.

Sarah finishes her frozen yogurt and grabs her keys. X-Ray skips to the car and enters through the passenger door as Sarah pulls out. The scene cuts to a grocery store. X-Ray hops about as Sarah walks towards the entrance.

X-Ray: Alright, you ready?
Sarah: What are we doing here?
X-Ray: Just go in!

Sarah enters the store as she follows X-Ray inside. X-Ray grabs a couple of pears and throws them down her shirt.

Sarah: What are you doing?
X-Ray: Shh!

X-Ray takes a couple of pears and gives them to Sarah, who also puts them down her shirt. The two girls smile as the secretly run out of the store and dump the pears into the back seats of Sarah's car.

X-Ray: You feeling better?
Sarah: Yeah...

They drive for a bit and talk. X-Ray hands Sarah a cigarette and the two smoke. Sarah stops the car in front of a school and the two smoke for a bit. X-Ray pulls a guitar from the back of the car and a couple of pears. Sarah grabs one of the pears and bites into it while X-Ray plays "No Worries" before throwing a pear and hitting it with her guitar. Sarah seems amused.

----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----

Sarah's car stops in front of a gas station. X-Ray goes in alone and snatches a couple of bottles of wine. Sarah grabs X-Ray's guitar and touches it, admiring it. Rachel notices noises near the wine section.

Rachel: Hey, what do you think you're doing?

X-Ray attempts to dart pass her but Rachel grabs her. The two wrestle and spin about in the store. As Rachel attempts to grab a wine bottle from X-Ray, Sarah slams her hard with X-Ray's guitar. Rachel attempts to get back up but Sarah hits with the guitar, continually hitting her. The final panel shows Rachel dead in a pool of blood as Sarah looks dead inside.

----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----

Sarah and X-Ray speed out of the gas station's parking lot. The two seem confused, a bit upset. Sarah slows the car down as they hit a fork in the road and stops in the middle of the fork. X-Ray doesn't stop her. The lights turn off and Sarah waits.

Another car comes speeding in and everything goes black.

Issue 6: What is I?

Leah wakes up in a void. She presses her finger against a fragile, glass-like surface which shatters.

She awakens with a headset on her head. She tosses it off.

Leah: Where the hell am I?
R PHD: Oh, I see you're awake.

R PHD takes off his headset. He jots down something on his pad.

Leah: Awake?
R PHD: Hmm, you died in stimulation so I'm thinking the memories haven't quite caught up to you yet.
Leah: Oh yeah, the stimulation.

R PHD jots something down.

Leah: Wait, what the fuck?

Leah heads out the door.

R PHD: What are you doing?
Leah: Gettin' out of this crazy ass place...

Leah opens the door to see the hall full of her friends (if you can call them that) sitting down in chairs with a look of surprise as Leah gets out.

Leah: The hell are you guys doing in here?
Unten: Leah, we're here for you.
Rachel: Yeah, don't you remember? X-Ray made you go to therapy.

Leah looks at X-Ray.

Leah: Oh.
X-Ray: Do you not remember>
Leah: It's not really coming back to me, honestly. The stimulation made me forget a lot.
X-Ray: You got really upset one night and you started attacking things in your sleep and I had to yell at you to stop.

X-Ray pauses.

X-Ray: I don't like yelling at you.
Leah: Okay, it's coming back to me. Nightmare about the Twisted Cross, you insisted I go to therapy to... alright.
Unten: You okay?
Leah: ...

Leah enters R PHD's room.

R PHD: So, you came back.
Leah: I don't get what the stimulation was for, Dr. Richards. Why dig so far in my past for all that junk?
Dr. Richards: Well, I didn't really believe it was about the Twisted Cross after the first couple of visits. So I took them out of your life and decided to explore that route to see what was really troubling you.

Dr. Richards stands up.

Dr. Richards: You have... experiences deep within you. Experiences that I don't think happened but evidently they happened according to you, so I have no real reason to believe that they somehow didn't... one struck out to me.

The Fan: That's what's left of the Fantendoverse. It's all broken.

Leah: Please don't make me forget my mistakes.

She forms herself into a horrifying form.

Leah: I was so set out to please myself that I lost what was important. I don't want to make those same mistakes again.

----ᕠᘉᕲ ᖶᕼᘍ ᖴᑗᖶᑘᖆᗴ ᘉᙦᐺᙓᖇ ᑤᘎᗰᓬᔕ----
Leah: I thought you said that was irrevelent.
Dr. Richards: I thought so too, but evidently you have a fear of the future.
Leah: Fear of the future? What?

Leah softly laughs as Dr. Richards looks at her.

Dr. Richards: You worry about the future but your future never comes. What comes is always here now.
Leah: But-
Dr. Richards: And because of your habit of worrying about whatever future you know of... you've become disillusioned in a sense. You're not ready for the present because you live in the future past.
Leah: But...
Dr. Richards: Wherever you are, you need to live here in the now. What comes is always here now. I don't want to keep coming back only to tell you that you could have lived instead of worrying about a future that's far behind you.
Leah: I guess that makes sense.
Dr. Richards: Do we understand each other now?
Leah: Well... what was everything else?
Dr. Richards: I dunno, I suppose we'll talk about it on a later visit.

Leah groans.

Dr. Richards: Leah, I only want to help.
Leah: Yeah, but it takes time out of my busy days of doing nothing...

Dr. Richards smiles as he opens the door out. Leah walks over to X-Ray.

Leah: ...thanks.

Leah and X-Ray hug. Leah looks to Rachel and then quickly looks away.

THE END
WHAT COMES IS HERE NOW
