The N Team follows a similar premise to the original Captain N. The N Team revolves around an ordinary teenager named Kevin Keene who is sucked into an alternate dimension known as Videoland, where he forms a team with Princess Lana, Simon Belmont from Castlevania, Pit from Kid Icarus, and Mega Man. The series follows the adventures of the N Team in Videoland and the real world.
Changes From Original Series
Many things were changed from the original Captain N to The N Team.
- Kevin is able to travel between Videoland and the real world by entering the Konami Code on his Power Pad. Kevin is able to transfer himself and other characters between the two worlds.
- While the members of the N Team are the same, their designs and personalities have changed. Kevin and Princess Lana's designs barely changed, but Simon, Pit, and Mega Man's designs have changed drastically from the original series. Simon's design is partially based on his appearance in Castlevania Chronicles, while Pit and Mega Man's designs are based on their appearance in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which was released about a week after the series premiere. Duke and Gameboy are completely removed from the series.
- The villain team has changed. Mother Brain remains being the leader of the villain team. King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard are replaced by Alucard and Thanatos. Dr. Wily is still part of the main villain team and appears more often.
- Various Nintendo series that didn't exist at the time of the release of the original series are featured in the reboot such as Kirby, Star Fox, and Fire Emblem. The series also features various games from the Super Nintendo.
- Although the series was produced in North America, the animation has an anime style to it as most of the characters originated in Japan. Characters like Simon, Pit, and Mega Man are animated with anime attributes, while other characters like Kevin and Princess Lana are animated in the style of American cartoons. The anime influenced animation is very similar to other shows like Teen Titans and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
- The reboot now features a relationship between Princess Lana and Pit. Their relationship develops throughout the series.
The N Team
Kevin Keene/Captain N - An ordinary teenager from Northridge, Los Angeles, California who was sucked into Videoland through the Ultimate Warp Zone from his television where he is destined to become the hero Captain N. Upon arriving in Videoland, he is armed with an NES Zapper and a Power Pad, which he uses to travel between Videoland and the real world. As leader of the N Team, Kevin is very friendly and sometimes acts as an older brother figure. Everyone in Videoland calls him Captain N except for Princess Lana and Pit. Kevin is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
Princess Lana - A young princess who became ruler of Videoland after her father was banished into the Mirror World by Mother Brain. She rules over all of the video worlds through the Palace of Power. Although she can sometimes be a typical damsel in distress, she is shown to be a skilled fighter as she was taught to defend herself at a young age. She is a good friend to the N Team, but she really misses her father and is determined to bring him back. Princess Lana's character hasn't changed much from the original series. However, in this series she has a romantic relationship with Pit which grows as the series progresses. She is very affectionate towards him as she kisses him on the cheek several times, usually after he heroically rescues her. Princess Lana is voiced by Annie Potts.
Simon Belmont - A giant and vampire hunter from Castlevania. In this series, Simon is arrogant and overconfident and calls himself "The World's Greatest Vampire Hunter." Simon is also very narcissistic and believes he is a very handsome person and his handsomeness will attract ladies. He is also very competitive to his fellow teammates and believed he was in a rivalry with Pit for Princess Lana's affection, although she shows no romantic interest in him. Eventually he realized that Princess Lana really likes Pit more than him. Simon Belmont is a very tough fighter and is not afraid to take on anything. His main weapon is his signature whip, which he uses to defeat enemies and can also use it as a rope. Simon Belmont is voiced by Rob Paulsen.
Pit - A young angel warrior from Angel Land. Although he is an angel, he can't actually fly unless given the Power of Flight which he can only use for five minutes at a time, or else his wings will burn up. Pit can be childish and naive at times, but the N Team see him as a good friend and teammate. He is also typically cheerful and breaks the 4th wall several times throughout the series. Although he is usually upbeat, he knows when to be serious at the right place and the right time. Pit is a skilled fighter, with his main weapon being his Palutena Bow, which can split into two small blades. Pit is extremely loyal to Princess Lana and develops romantic feelings for her throughout the series. He is also very protective of her and heroically rescues her several times. He isn't as open with his affections as Princess Lana and he often gets embarrassed as seen by him blushing and acting nervous. Pit retains his redesign from Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the series. Pit is voiced by Antony Del Rio, who voiced him in Kid Icarus Uprising and Super Smash Bros. 4.
Mega Man - A fighting robot constructed by Dr. Light. He is the most serious and mature member of the N Team. Mega Man is very strong and durable. He usually uses his Mega Buster in battle, but on several occasions he uses different weapons from various Robot Masters. Mega Man retains his usual blue appearance in this series. Mega Man is voiced by Ian James Corlett, who previous voiced him in the 1994 Mega Man cartoon.
The Forces of Chaos
Mother Brain - The leader of the Forces of Chaos. Before Kevin arrived in Videoland, Mother Brain sent her troops to take over the Palace of Power and banished King Charles to the Mirror World. Mother Brain is considered the brain of the villain team, as she usually comes up with the plans to destroy the N Team. She is usually stationary in a giant glass container in her home world of Metroid. Mother Brain retains her one-eyed, brain like appearance. Mother Brain has the ability to see through a mirror to see what her minions or the N Team is doing. Mother Brain is voiced by Jane Lynch.
Alucard - The son of Dracula who regards himself as Mother Brain's best henchman. He has the power to turn into a bat and manipulate souls. He also likes to suck blood from his enemies. Because he is a vampire, he is very sensitive to sunlight and prefers to work at night. He speaks with a typical Transylvanian accent. He and his father Dracula plan to destroy their arch nemesis Simon Belmont. Alucard is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
Thanatos - The God of Death who is loyal to Mother Brain. He has a rather silly personality which is different to Mother Brain's other henchmen to the point where everyone finds him annoying (even the upbeat Pit). Thanatos is also in love with Mother Brain, but she doesn't return the same feelings. Because of this, Thanatos is extremely jealous of the relationship between Pit and Princess Lana. Thanatos has the ability to shape shift into many different things. Thanatos is voiced by Danny Mann.
Dr. Wily - A mad scientist who speaks in a German accent. Dr. Wily is seen more often in the series than in the original. Dr. Wily builds various machines in order to defeat the N Team. Dr. Wily is voiced by Scott McNeil, who previously voiced him in the Mega Man cartoon.
Mega Man X
King K. Rool
Dark Mega Man
Outside of Videoland
Katherine Keene - Kevin's mother who is a stay-at-home mom.
Kyle Keene - Kevin's father who is a workaholic that rarely seen at home.
Miles - Kevin's only real world friend. Miles is laid-back and often tells Kevin to "go with the flow." Miles is one of the few kids at Northridge Middle School that accepts Kevin for his "geekiness". Miles is voiced by E.G. Daily.
Mike Vincent - The main bully at Northridge Middle School and one of Kevin's nemesis. He is an 8th grader who loves to torment the younger kids. He is actually supposed to be a sophomore in high school, but was held back twice. He often hangs out with a group of other 8th graders who are also bullies named Butch, Roderick, and Liam.
Mr. Tanner - Kevin's grumpy History teacher. Mr. Tanner strongly dislikes it when his students are causing trouble and is often annoyed that Kevin is always late for his class. Mr. Tanner also dislikes being interrupted while he is teaching.
Coach Phillips - The gym teacher and coach of the baseball team at Northridge Middle School. Coach Phillips is very strict and often yells when he talks. He is also very annoyed with the fact that the school baseball team plays very poorly and he tries to encourage them to do better. He often calls his students "maggots" as he feels that the kids at Northridge are wimpy and always makes them do extreme exercises such as 100 push-ups or running 10 laps around the school football field.
The N Team has a total of 5 seasons. Each season has 20 episodes and focuses on a specific member of the N Team.
