The main task in the series is to reach the goal portal in order to finish the level. Levels are sorted into certain number of "planets". In order to navigate the level, characters have a special tornado power, which enables them to spin in full power and break some breakable obstacles, such as enemies, brick walls and jelly walls (might slow down the character). They also have their own secondary special powers as shown in Swirly Smash 3.
(work in progress)
- Swirly Smash Rally (racing spin-off, developed by HAL Laboratory for the Wii)
- Swirly Smash Pop! (match-3 mobile spin-off, developed by Gameloft for iOS and Android devices)
- Swirly Superstars (Mario Party-esque party game spin-off, developed by Nintendo EAD Tokyo for the Wii U)
- Swirly Smash Conquest (match-3 RPG puzzle spin-off, developed by Electronic Arts for Android devices)
