Superstar Six is a beat 'em up Mega Man fan game produced by Capcom, KittySis Inc. and Super Jump Punch! Games that is made especially for the Nintendo 3DS. Although the game was in the works at one time, it is unlikely that it'll ever spawn. That is unless TheShinyMew decide to pursue the idea. It had sound and graphics similar to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, but the sound had many Mega Man music remixes from time to time. It is the first fan game to feature the original six Robot Masters as playable characters instead of Mega Man himself.

Superstar Six's success was limited due to the release of the Pokémon Black and White Versions during the same year. The game appears to be import because it was never released in the PAL Region.

Calling all Superstar Six! This is Dr. Light reporting! Roll has been gone wild! She totally destroyed many buildings and towns in this place! I have known about your destinies, but your goal is to stop Roll from take over the world! Maybe I can modify you six to upgrade your powers for a special project. Remember to stay in touch, because Roll is madder than fire. Good luck to you!
Dr. Light

Roll and the Robot Masters from Mega Man 1-10 are under command to attack the city and she went to Light's lab to steal the Hidden Crystal, leaving her bow behind. Dr. Light assists the Superstar Six by increasing the power of their weapons and creates a robotic gerbil Pommy to assist them. When they confronts Roll in her hideout, the real Roll and Bass showed up at this point and revealed to be a robot named "Superstar Woman". Upon her defeat, Master Elec Man showed up and challenges the Six to come and get the Hidden Crystal. The Six defeated him and get the Crystal, and the tower has been collapsed.

The player takes control of the Superstar Six members: Alex (Cut Man), Mac (Guts Man), Lance (Ice Man), Joe (Fire Man), Jake (Bomb Man), and Alicia (Elec Chan), as they fight their way into the turf of the Robot Masters in order to rescue the Hidden Crystal. The player character has a repertoire of fighting techniques which they can perform by using the joystick and three action buttons (kick, jump, and punch) individually or in combination. Techniques ranges from basic punches and kicks, to more elaborate maneuvers like hair grabbing moves or elbow punches. When playing with another player, one can assist the other by grabbing their partner's opponent from behind. The player begins the game with a certain number of extra lives and a life gauge which depletes as the player takes hits from enemies. If the life gauge runs out or the time limit reaches zero, the player will lose a life. Each character also perform special weapon attacks. For example, Alex's Rolling Cutter.

Top-View Stages

There are two top-view stages in the game: Gravity Man and Splash Woman's stages. The controls in the top-view stages differ from those in Super Contra, Contra III: The Alien Wars, and Operation C. The player's character always faces the same direction when moved with the control pad and must be rotated with the shoulder buttons (L and R). The perspective differs depending on which game mode is played. When these stages are played in 1-Player Mode, the character always faces up and the area rotates around him. In 2 Players A Mode, these stages uses a horizontal split-screen format, with the first player's half of the screen on the top and second player's half on the bottom. Both characters face right in this mode. In 2-Players B Mode, both players share the same screen and their characters rotate while the perspective remains fixed for both players.

The objective in these stages is also different from the standard side-view stages. Rather than moving into a linear path towards the end of the stage to face a Robot Master, the player must first destroy all enemies situated at fixed locations. The player may select his landing point at the start of the stage, while on-screen arrows help the player lead his character to the nearest enemies (a map can also be used that pinpoints the player's current location while showing the remaining enemies). After all enemies are destroyed, the player is transported to a new area to face the Robot Master.

Promotion and Sponsorship

The special comic was found in issue #41 of the Super Jump Punch! comic, entitled "Superstar Six Appears!". This suggests the special was intended to promote that game that did come out in time for April Fools Day. This comic is educational and is often noted for dealing with social and health-related issues that affect young children, such as the death of a family member, influenza, and more recently cancer, Asperger's Syndrome and Alzheimer's disease (otherwise, Roll has been affected with Roboenza again). This comic is released again as a promotional stand-alone comic, and was distributed at Food City and Walmart. This was given to someone who visited Food City as a 100th customer or someone who purchased the Icee's at the Subway restaurant located in Walmart. Three playable promotional characters, Mega Man, Roll and Proto Man, were also distributed at Food City and Walmart for the one who purchased the game.

  • This is the first game to feature the robotic gerbil named Pommy.
  • Character artwork and character sprites are chibi-styled and they appear as they did in Mega Man Powered Up.
  • Like Mega Man 5, this game in the series appears to be dated 20XX, as opposed to 200X.
  • The music in this game's Master Elec Man's stage is very similar to the music from Wily's first stage from Mega Man 2.
  • This is the only fan game in which Master Elec Man's copter is red.
