Super Stars are special items in the Super Mario series that Mario uses as a Power-Up to turn himself into Invincible Mario.
In the Mario Kart series, Super Stars are an uncommon item that can be obtained in the lower half of the rankings, being more common as the player is closer to last place.

Mario Basketball: Mushroom Tourney[]
Super Stars (known as Star in this game) are extremely rare and rarely appear, they make you invincible for a while like usual.
Super Mario 3D World[]
In Super Mario 3D World Super Stars will turn Mario or Luigi invincible. The first location it is found is in Rolling Greens. Super Stars appear in all the Mini-courses and in all the courses in Area 6. The player can also buy it at Toadette's Shop in Toad Town.
Super Mario Bros. V[]
In Super Mario Bros. V Super Stars are found as common as they're in other Super Mario Bros. games they are also sometimes given if you go in Brown Toad Houses.
Super Mario Moose[]
Super Stars appear in Super Mario Moose as a more rare power-up. Like in past games, they grant the player temporary invincibility.
Super Mario Moose Deluxe[]
Super Stars return in Super Mario Moose Deluxe, acting the same as in the previous game.
Koopa Kart series[]
The Star appears in every game in the Koopa Kart series, serving the same role as in Mario Kart. In most games, it can be obtained in the bottom six positions, while in Koopa Kart Wii and Koopa Kart 8, it is obtainable in the bottom eight positions. Koopa Kart Wii introduces the Mega Mushroom, which provides the player invincibility from everything except Stars, Bullet Bills, and Lightning (which shrinks the player to normal instead of making them small), and makes the player bigger.
