Super Smash Bros Melee for Nintendo 3DS (roughly translated) is a Smash Bros. game for the New Nintendo 3DS developed by Namco. The original was never released outside of Japan due to negative critisism and is Japan-exclusive. The remade version by collaterale1 is much better, with removal of several characters and stages, and brough back some characters to make identical to Melee.
The game plays similarly to Super Smash Bros. Melee. Despite this, all of the original Melee stages appear with none changed other than graphical tweaks.
Original version only
This original version recieved lots of negativity since its release in 2015. Most reviewers said the game felt more like a cash in on the franchise rather than a completley new game. Many websites rated the game at 3.5 out of 10 stars or lower, saying that the game was too slow and too repetitive. Others said the price was too high at 4290.60 yen (about 40 US dollars). Another huge complaint was that Mewtwo, a fan-favorite character from the original, was replaced by Lucario. One source said the game ran on the same engine for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, but this is not confirmed to be true. Despite this, the game did receive fairly positive reviews, especially because of the inclusion of both new characters and new costumes for characters (some of which turned them into completely different characters).
The remade version recieved lots of positivity, due to the engine being recreated and make identical to its original source. Many websites ranted at 8 out of 10 stars. But got some negative reviews, due to the removal of several characters, alt. costumes and stages.
