Fortune's Wings Studios
Super Smash Bros. Great Duel is the upcoming first installment in the Super Smash Bros. series created by Fortune's Wings Studios. The development is run separately from the main Super Smash Bros. series, which is headed by Masahiro Sakurai. The game will be released on October 1st 2018. 84 characters will make up the base roster.
Dimensional Exodus is the Story Mode of Super Smash Bros. Great Duel, and the sequel to Subspace Emissary. After the defeat of Tabuu, five beings called the Primal Lords have been awakened across the video game worlds. The dimensions are beginning to crumble, and in the midst of a new Dark Realm with the Primal Lords as its rulers, it's up to heroes and villains from around the universe to save the bridge that connects them all.
Game Modes: Smash
The "standard" in every Super Smash Bros. game, this Smash pits four players against each other. You can fight on any stage, use any out of a large selection of items, and fight on up to three teams.
This is a large match with up to eight players. In the past, only larger stages or Ω-form stages could be played on, but this has since been expanded to include all stages. Once again, you can fight on up to four teams and use any items.
This mode has many custom rules. You can make all characters on fire, or metal, or giant. You can give characters certain items to start with, and even give them a handicap.
Tag Team Smash
This is a brand-new kind of fight, that involves picking two fighters rather than one. Up to four players can fight on Tag Team Smash, and the constant switching of characters forces quick thinking to counter your opponents. Damage percentage and stocks remaining are shared by the two fighters. To switch your fighter, hold both shield buttons (L+R on Joy-Cons).
This is a returning mode that originated in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Up to eight players can fight on Smashdown, and after every match, the fighters you chose become unavailable for the future rounds. This forces you to play with different strategies. Stage picking, teams, and available items are just like in the normal Smash.
This is a brand-new mode. Up to eight players can fight in Super Shards, and the fight is normal... at first. Items fall all over the stage that look like miniature Smash Balls. They are called Super Shards. The player with the most Super Shards when time is up wins. It becomes quite complicated, as players can attack each other to steal their Super Shards... You can fight in teams, and pick any stage, Ω-form, or Battlefield-form stage. You can also use any items... and here's a gimmick... Using your Final Smash will cost you Super Shards...
Other Modes: Stadium
Target Blast is a Stadium mode which involves fighters attacking a powerful bomb with a 10-second timer, and sending it flying to blow up colored targets and blocks.
Home-Run Contest is a Stadium mode which involves fighters picking up a Home-Run Bat and trying to hit a Sandbag as far as they can.
Multi-Man Smash Royale
The Multi-Man Smash returns in Great Duel, in the form of a new, vamped-up Multi-Man Smash Royale. This time, you can customize your battle more than ever. Fight a team of Miis, or select up to three Nintendo fighters to lead the onslaught. For example, you can take on a team of a hundred Links, Bowsers, and Sonics.
Other Modes: Boss Battles
With Story Mode returning from Brawl, it's fitting that Boss Battles come back as well. After you take on bosses in Dimensional Exodus, you will unlock a Boss Replay where you can fight the bosses again and again. You will also unlock a stage in which these powerful foes appear as Stage Bosses.
Other Modes: Smash Tour
Conduct your Miis on a new and improved Smash Tour! Play on a small, medium, or large board, and collect Tour Items and fighters. At the end of each turn, fight in different kinds of Smash, with a random choice from your fighters. You can win spaces to move on the next turn depending on how well you do in the battle, so fight strategically! At the very end of the game, everything you did comes into play. A grand final battle pits all fighters against each other!
