Mario
|
The mascot of Nintendo is a mainstay within the Smash Bros. series. Since his appearance in the first entry of the fighting series, Mario has always been deemed as a balanced character that would be easy for beginners to use. This holds true this time around as well. Mario's special moves include throwing fireballs, using a cape to reflect attacks, and spraying water through FLUDD to push opponents away.

Luigi
|
Often overshadowed by his more famous brother, Mario, Luigi has learned to develop a few tricks of his own over the years. He works similarly to Mario, with some key differences. Luigi is more powerful and quicker in the air, and his fireballs are unaffected by gravity. Luigi has also finally brought his Poltergust into battle this installment!

Donkey Kong
|
Mario's very first rival was a giant gorilla who stole his girlfriend and escaped to the top of buildings. Nowadays, Donkey Kong has turned over a new leaf and is seen competing with Mario in friendly matches like this one. Donkey Kong is large and in charge with powerful physical attacks, but lack of a proper projectile.

Diddy Kong
|
The nephew of Donkey Kong is a quick and playful chimp who's always helping DK in adventures. Unlike Donkey Kong, Diddy is fast and relies on his agility to distract and confuse his opponents while assaulting them with weaker attacks. His stretchy arms, Peanut Popgun, and acrobatic skills help him cover as much range as possible.

Link
|
The name of Link is given down throughout the generations and is one of the defining traits of the hero of time. Link recieves a wardrobe change from his last Smash Bros. appearance, now equipped in his Hyrule Warriors look. Link is a projectile master who's special moves include boomerangs, bombs, and bow and arrows, while he is skilled in sword fighting too.

Pikachu
|
A small electric rodent-like Pokémon who is often seen as the face of Pokémon, they control electricity through their cheek pouches. Pikachu is quick and nimble, being able to run at fast speeds and charge into foes. Most of Pikachu's special moves revolve around the ability to use lightning as an attack, which will slightly stun opponents when hit.

Kirby
|
Kirby is a small puffball who resides in Dream Land and is most famous for his gargantuan appetite and ability to inhale and swallow nearly anything. Kirby can inhale opponents to copy their look and one of their special moves. The other of Kirby's special moves utilize weapons Kirby can gain in his series. Kirby is powerful but lightweight and can be knocked around easily.

Samus
|
Samus is a bounty hunter who is tasked with defeating the Space Pirates. Samus, similar to Link, is a projectile master who uses moves such as bombs, missiles, and energy balls that can be charged and fires. Most of Samus's moves have some sort of range to them, meaning you'll have to space carefully.

Fox
|
An expert pilot and member of the Star Fox team. Fox is a very fast character for his weight and his attacks show this as most of them have little to no start or end lag and can be executed and canceled right away. On the other hand, however, his attacks aren't as powerful as some other fighters.

Marth
|
The prince of Altea, he has the blood of heroes and wields his Falchion into battle. Marth's sword is unique is that he wields the only sword with a tipper hitbox (and he is one of two characters with a tipper hitbox in general). This makes him perfect for spacing, but deadly precision is required to get the most out of him.

Pit
|
The last true angel alive in all of Skyworld, and the general of Goddess Palutena's forces. Despite being an angel he cannot fly and can only flap his wings a few times before falling. He attacks with various weapons such as the ranged Palutena Bow and the up close Upperdash Arm.

Olimar
|
A space traveler who has befriended the species of Pikmin, tiny plant like creatures who help Olimar in battle. Olimar is very weak on his own, but can pluck Pikmin and toss them for powerful ranged attacks. Keeping a balance of Pikmin in your team is key.

Villager
|
The Villager is a character in the Animal Crossing series that players control as they live their daily life talking with animal villagers and decorating their town. The Villager is a crafty character who's attacks may not look like they hurt. However, Villager is highly technical and requires practice to master.

Wii Fit Trainer
|
In the game Wii Fit, this trainer was a visual guide for many exercises. Her moves are health based and she has agility and grace on both land and air. With the ability to power up some of her attacks and heal herself afterwards, The Trainer is full of tricks.

Little Mac
|
Although small, Little Mac has beaten many challengers as he was trained by the almighty Doc Louis, a retired boxer who created the Star Punch. Little Mac rips things apart on the ground but is a goof in the air, and his recovery is awful. He has a Power Meter as well - when it fills, his neutral special becomes a one time OHKO punch.

Shulk
|
The wielder of the Monado, a high tech sword that can cut through Mechon. Shulk can use the Monado to buff one of his stats at the cost of debuffing another. The sword can also open into a beam, giving it the longest range of a sword.
