Super Mario Tennis is the 9th game in Mario Tennis series.

Gameplay

The gameplay is Super Mario Tennis is similar to Mario Tennis Aces. Characters have an energy gauge that they use to perform certain abilities. These include Zone Shots, Zone Speed, Special Shots and Attacks. This gauge can be filled by rallying shots or performing Trick Shots. Attacks are a new feature. When you have enough energy during a time when you are waiting to play you can fire an attack at another player. The attack follows the player until they dodge or get hit by them. If the player gets hit by the attack they will be stunned for some time allowing you to score a point. But if the player dodges the attack they will get a lot of energy.

Characters are put into one of 6 type categories based on their stats.

• All Around: These characters have no major strengths or weaknesses
• Technique: These characters have the best ball control
• Speed: These characters are the fastest
• Power: These characters hit the ball the hardest
• Defense: These characters have the longest reach
• Tricky: These characters have curving shots
