Super Mario Sunshine: Isle Under Attack is a sequel to Super Mario Sunshine set to release sometime in 2014 for the Wii U. The game is under development by Pixel Perfect Co.

The game will play quite similar to that of Super Mario Sunshine. One of the biggest changes from the original is the inclusion of power-ups such as the Fire Flower, Ice Flower, and others. Another change is the ability to play as Luigi. He will control similar to other 3D Mario games, with a higher jump but poor traction. Luigi will be able to flutter jump like in New Super Luigi U, but his F.L.U.D.D 2.0 will have less water and will also be able to use less at once. The aforementioned F.L.U.D.D 2.0 will replace F.L.U.D.D from Super Mario Sunshine. It is able to do all it was capable of in the original game, plus a new power-up, the Power Blast nozzle, which is found in green boxes. The F.L.U.D.D 2.0 also uses power-ups (for instance, instead of Mario being able to shoot fireballs with the Fire Flower, F.L.U.D.D 2.0 will shoot fire instead of water for a brief period of time).

Princess Peach receives a letter from the mayor of Isle Delfino, saying that Bowser had laid seige on the island and all its surrounding areas. Upon reading this, Peach sends Mario and Luigi to Isle Delfino to defeat Bowser and save the island.

After collecting 30 Shine Sprites, Mario/Luigi can challenge Bowser Jr. After defeating him, access to the western side of Isle Delfino is gained. When 50 Shine Sprites are collected, the player can enter Bowser's Seaside Stronghold and challenge Bowser. Though tough, Bowser is eventually defeated. The mayor commends Mario and Luigi for freeing them from Bowser's grip, and Mario and Luigi fly home. The bros. arrive at Princess Peach's Castle, to see that the castle has been captured by Bowser! A sign is posted outside the castle that reads "Gotcha! The Bowser on Isle Delfino was a decoy! Come in if you dare try to attack me!" The bros try to enter through the front door, but it is locked, so they have to go and enter from the basement, where they must battle a Hammer Bro, Boomerang Bro, and Fire Bro. Defeating them earns access to the castle. When Mario and Luigi reach the final floor, they must fight Bowser. When they defeat Bowser, even more turmoil pursues. Bowser Jr. comes in and covers Bowser in paint from his Magic Paintbrush, turning him giant. Bowser is now larger than the castle and attacks the castle to shoot debris at the player. Using all four nozzles they learned to use in Isle Delfino, the players defeat Bowser. Bowser, now normal sized again, and Bowser Jr. run off, leaving behind the Magic Paintbrush. After freeing Princess Peach, Mario uses the magic paintbrush to restore the castle to normal, and then the game ends.
