Super Mario Strikers: X League (also known as Super Mario Football X in Europe) is a video game for the Nintendo 3DS and the sequel to the hit games Mario Super Strikers and Super Mario Strikers Charged. The game includes many elements that were present in Mario Super Strikers, including the re-introduction of the normal soccer ball. Also, unlike the other two games, Super Mario Strikers: X League includes a Story Mode revolving around the Robotic Nightmare team.

CaptainsEdit
There are 15 captains that you can choose in the game (8 default, 7 unlockable), each with their own number, theme and team name. Every captain has a standard sidekick that they use in Challenge Mode and Cup Mode. Every captain can use a special kick called a "Star Kick" which can only be used on the opposing team's side.
Default CaptainsEdit
As stated above, there are 8 default captains: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, DK, Wario and Waluigi. Every captain also has a bio which can be read in the "Momentos" menu.

| Mario | 81 | Mario is the long-time hero of the magical Mushroom Kingdom and King Bowser's arch-enemy. Mario has magnificent soccer skills, and can kick a good lob. Mario's number is 81, to reflect on the first time he saved his loved one, Pauline, in 1981. |
| Luigi | 02 | Luigi is the cowardly, boo-hunting, quick running brother of Mario's who has a terrible fear of all things dead, mainly Boos however. Luigi is quicker then Mario but cannot get lobs to go that high. Luigi's number is 02, to reflect how he is the "second banana" to Mario. |
| Peach | 10 | Peach is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, the captive of Bowser (most of the time) and Mario's love interest. Peach is slower then Mario, but makes up in her agility state; as she can flip right over opponents while carrying the ball. Peach's number is 10, the same as it was in Mario Super Strikers and Charged. |
| Daisy | 09 | Daisy is the princess of Sarasaland, and Peach's best friend. Daisy is less agile then Peach but is stronger, making her able to push opponents farther. Daisy's number is 09, the same as the two prequels. |
| Yoshi | 90 | Yoshi is an egg-laying, fire breathing, baby saving dinosaur who lives in Dinosaur Land. Yoshi is the fastest runner in the game, and one of the weakest kickers. Yoshi's number is 90, the same year he debuted on Yoshi's Island. |
| DK | 55 | Donkey Kong is the kong protector of Donkey Kong Island and the head of the Kong Clan. DK is one of the slowest runners in the game and one of the most powerful. Like Luigi, DK cannot kick lob passes up very high, but DK kicks them fast. DK is considered the cheapest character in the game, as he uses both his sets of feet to play. DK's number is 55, however in concept art it was 10. |
| Wario | 100 | Wario is Mario's dopplegänger who is very greedy, strong and obese. Wario is a balanced character in speed, but a very powerful player. Wario's number is 100, to reflect how many coins are needed to gain a 1-UP in many Mario series games. |
| Waluigi | 0 | Waluigi is a mysterious man and Wario's supposed brother, who appeared with him on many occasions. Waluigi is the second-most agile in the game (after Peach), and the most balanced kicker. |

As stated above, there are 7 unlockable captains, each with their own bios. Their bios must be unlocked by beating them in Challenge Mode/Cup Mode.

| Mona | 03 | Mona is an employee of WarioWare Inc. and an employee of Manager Joe (and many jobs). Mona is the rival to Peach, being quick-footed and very agile. In Matches against Peach at the loading screen, Peach will look extra mad, then usual. Mona, when playing against Wario, will make him sink to his knees with her taunt, where she will blow a kiss to the player (normally) or kiss Wario on the cheek. | Beat Cup Mode with Wario |
| Robotic Nightmare | Ω | Robotic Nightmare (also named "Super Team") is a super team made up of mysterious robots that came from an unknown area. RN are the most powerful team, but the slowest in running and the least agile.
