Super Mario Generations is an action-platformer game released by RenarioExtreme. INC. It is available on Wii u and Nintendo 3DS.

Classic Mario's gameplay is a simple, 2D platformer game, while Modern Mario's gameplay is 3D platformer, similar to Super Mario Galaxy.

This game takes place after New Super Mario Bros. u. In the classic time, Classic Mario is seen running on World 1-1 of the classic Super Mario Bros. Suddenly, he encounters a mysterious monster that appears in the end of the level, leaving himself confused. The monster then sucks everything of the level into the time holes, with Classic Mario panicking and trying to escape, but got sucked into White Space.

In the modern time, Princess Peach invites Mario to her castle to celebrate his birthday party. Peach has also baked Mario a large cake for his birthday. Before Mario could blow the candles, the same monster from World 1-1 sucks everything and his friends into the same time holes, with Princess Peach grabbing onto the table, but got sucked into the hole as well. Mario tries to attack the monster, but got overwhelmed by its tremendous power, leaving him unconscious in the white, empty space.

When Mario wakes up, he sees himself in the white space, and meets Classic Mario there. When Modern Mario finishes World 1-1 of Super Mario Bros, Luigi is rescued. After that, they search for their friends. While looking for their friends, the Bros encounter Luigi's classic counterpart, who was looking for Classic Mario in the White Space. Classic Luigi then explains that the monster sucks him into the White Space as well.

After restoring all worlds and rescuing their friends, Mario, Luigi and their classical counterparts finally arrive at the Center of Time. There, the monster, the Time Eater, appears in front of them. However, they discover that the mastermind behind the Time Eater's action is none other than Bowser, Mario's long time arch-nemesis, who has hijacked the Time Eater and kidnapped Princess Peach and her classical counterpart with the help of his classical counterpart. Bowser explains that after his last defeat, he retreated with Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings and ended up somewhere in space. There, he saw the Time Eater, and after learning about the Time Eater's power and abilities to erase time and space, he plans to use it to fix his past failures. So, he abandoned Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings and hijacked the Time Eater, and then used its powers to create time holes which sucks and erases everything up. Bowser then uses the Time Eater to fight Mario. Mario tries to stop Bowser, but is easily defeated by the Time Eater. However, Peach's cries, with the help of Mario's friends, including Wario and Waluigi, strengthen the two Mario's, much to the displeased Bowsers' surprise. With the newfound powers, the two Mario's are able to defeat the Time Eater, sending the two Bowser's to nowhere. After the Time Eater has been destroyed, Mario returns back to Peach's Castle, upset that his cake has been destroyed. Soon after that, all of Mario's friends appear from the time holes, and Peach makes Mario forget about the cake by kissing him, which made Mario happy, and continue celebrating his birthday with his friends, as Classic Mario, Luigi and Peach return back to their timeline, bidding farewell to their modern counterparts.

After the credits, it is revealed that the two Bowser's are sent to and stuck in the timeless, white space. As the two argue about their victories and a portal to get out of the white space, they both then discuss about continuing their misdeeds.
