Super Mario Galaxy: Ultimate Quest is a game for the Wii U and another sequel to Super Mario Galaxy.
The history begins when Peach invites Mario to the Shooting Stars Festival at Mushroom Kingdoom with his friends (including Luigi, Daisy, Rosalina, Lubba and others), and also to share an Special cake with him. The others go to Toad Town with the Comet Observatory and with the Starship Mario. On his way to Peach's Castle, Mario finds the Baby Luma, confused. The Luma seems to recorganize Mario and jumps into his hat to the Festival. At Toad Town, Mario watches an dark nebula at the castle and watch a planet-sized Bowser appearing from it and attacking the castle with Airships and UFOs. Bowser and his troop destroy part of the castle, part of the Comet Observatory and part of the Starship Mario. Bowser explains that he used the power of the Power Stars and the power of the 7 Grand Stars to be giant and be even more powerful. He kidnaps Luigi, Toad, Wario, Waluigi, Peach, Daisy and Rosalina and takes their away, hoping for their to witness his creation of his new galaxy in the end of the Central Universe.
After the Koopa Troop escape from the Earth, Mario encounters Lubba, Polari and Toadsworth in a catastrophic situation. The Comet Observatory, the Starship Mario, the Peach's Castle and the Toad Town were badly damaged by Koopa forces. They say to Mario to talk to a Luma to go out the Earth and go to the first galaxy of the game to get the first Star.
After defeat Pipsqueak Piranha and get the first Star, Mario arrives on a planet-like object with lots of metalic trash seeing Lubba, Polari and Toadsworth. After talking to Mario, explaning more the situation, Lubba, Polari and the Lumas decided to use all their power to create the Galaxial Spaceship, a spaceship used to make Mario and his friends proceed through the six worlds to save his friends, get the Power Stars and defeat Bowser and his troop. Also, they create a giant bubble sield to protect and rebuild the Peach's Castle (which was launched into the space after damaged), the Comet Observatory and the Starship Mario. That "place", with the Galaxial Spaceship, is named Star Station.
After going through several galaxies, fighting off enemies, rescusing some friends, fighting Bowser twice, fighting Bowser Jr., Mario fights Bowser for the third time in his Universal Stronghold. After defeat him, Mario rescues Princess Peach and another Grand Star. But it is revealed that the Koopas have a final Grand Star. Bowser Jr. and Bowser are still alive, but in the form of Dry Bowser Jr. and Dry Bowser and with Rosalina. So, it is necessary that Mario faces more galaxies (Universe 7) until it reaches the hideout of Dry Bowser. To have access to Dry Bowser hideout, Mario need get all the Gold Stars and the 6 previous Grand Stars. After defeat him, Mario gets the final Grand Star. After get the final Grand Star, Rosalina and Lubba reveals that Mario needs return to all galaxies to get the Green Stars.
After get all the Green Stars, it's reveladed the Super Mario Galaxy, a Galaxy made with all the Stars rescused, with 2 final Gold Stars. On a side note, when the game is 100% complete, the save file will display a counter, representing how many times the player lost a life. The file will also read 'Ultimate Master of Universe' and have a special gold crown.
For traveling between different galaxies Mario will use a spaceship, the Galaxial Spaceship, that looks like the The Dreadnought (from Dreadnought Galaxy in SMG1), but in a smaller size and with Mario references from older games. Like in Super Mario 3D World, the map can be freely roamed with full control of the character in the Galaxial Spaceship, that can be used to access the galaxies and also to destroy some giant crystals with Star Bits on it or bowser planets using cannons. Also, the player can explore the Star Station, located at the beggining of each world (it only moves from world to another world) and accompany the reconstruction of the places in it. All the old Power-ups return in the game, as well as a bunch of another ones. Like the last games, Mario must travel though galaxies and collect Power Stars. Unlike Super Mario Glalaxy 1 and 2, it's possible to play with five-player mode and the game have unlockable playable characters. Each character can use an different Co-Star Luma that can help the player.
