Super Mario Bros.: Power-Up Paradise is a Mario game for Wii U and 3DS. Like New Super Mario Bros. 2 was associated with coins, this game is associated with power-ups. It is set in Power-Up Paradise. There are also 3D and 2D levels.
After foiling Bowser's plots, racing, playing many different sports, and partying, Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Luigi and Toad decide to take a vacation in a faraway land known as Power-Up Paradise. However, like usual, Bowser comes along, kidnaps Peach and sends his Koopa Troop to inhabit the beautiful land of Power-Up Paradise. Luckily, there are many power-ups for the Mario Bros. and Yoshi to use against Bowser.
This game is like most New Super Mario Bros. and 3D Mario titles, but with a twist. Enemies can also use power-ups! This allows, for example a Koopa Troopa, to use a Fire Flower and become a Fire Troopa. There are also more power-ups than usual, but harder levels. There are lots, I mean lots of renturning power-ups and even some new ones like the Thunder Flower, Bomb Flower and Water Flower. You can choose to play as Mario or Yoshi, both having their advantages. For example, Mario can Spin Jump and crouch, but Yoshi can use its tongue and Flutter Jump.
Mario Game/Yoshi Game
Essentially Story Mode. You travel through 10 worlds and try to foil Bowser's plans, save Peach and return Power-Up Paradise to its original state.
You search for players near you and play together in the 3DS version, and use Wii Remotes in the Wii U Version. In the 3DS version, there is a leader and that person gets to lead the way. To become the leader, you can ground-pound the current leader, go down a warp pipe first or make the leader lose a life. Player 1 is Mario and Player 2 is Luigi. In the Wii U version up to 4 people can play. Unlike New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U, even Player 1 can choose their character. The characters are Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Toad (Red Toad) and in 2D levels they are played the same as NSMBWii and NSMBU.
In Boss Rush, you see how far you can get battling every boss, fought in order. You get a random item in your inventory before every battle. It is unlocked by beating the final Bowser boss. If you beat this mode you get the Boss Award and a secret title screen.
