Super Mario 64 3D is a remake of SM64 and SM64DS. It has many new features, including Waluigi and 250 Stars. It is for the 3DS.
New Features
Edit
New Stars
Edit
The game now features 250 stars. Each course features a new challenge when a Star Coin is found and a bunny hunt star. (+30) There are also 2 new courses. (+18) There is also a new course to unlock Waluigi with 2 secret stars. (+2) The castle also has 50 purple coins inside. When all are found you can buy 45 stars from the Toad at the front door. (+45) Finally the first 2 Bowser courses feature 2 more stars. (+4) The star from the final Bowser also counts as a star. (+1)
Return of Switches
Edit
The blue and green switches return from SM64 and everyone can use Wing Caps, Metal Mushrooms and Vanish Orbs. Also, there is a hidden yellow switch outside the castle in a little hut unlockable with 20 stars that gives the player yellow blocks for Fire Flowers with temporary fire-throwing power, Waluigi's course features a purple switch for purple blocks which have Dash Boots for temporary top speed and Mario's course has an orange switch for orange blocks relasing P-Balloons, which you can grab by touching and temporarily float with them.
Waluigi
Edit
Waluigi can be unlocked by Wario in the Petey Piranha Punchout in the top floor. He has 3 stars speed and 2 stars jump but no stars power. However, for his attack he can pick up enemies and throw them far. He can not hit bricks but can pick up objects.
Storyline Additions
Edit
The story is basically the same as SM64DS but Waluigi is in the first and last cutscene and he is on Peach's cake at the end.
Added by MarioGameChampionProgress
Edit
You can now save after defeating Bowser in the Sky and can get 3 file stars: for beating Bowser in the Sky, for unlocking all characters, and for getting 250 stars.
Other
Edit
Secret courses have the same challenge selection screen as the other courses. The game can now be played in 3D. Whomp's Fortress is renamed Throwback Fortress and its portrait has been changed to a group of Whimps. It also has more added to it, mostly extra pieces of the Throwback Galaxy from SMG2. The cannon outside now opens with 130 stars. Multiplayer is also now playable online.
