In Super Mario 3DS , there are 15 worlds with 10 stars in each, giving you a total of 150 Power Stars. There are also 50 secret Power Stars scattered across the hub world, and 50 Star Bunnies who will give you a Power Star for catching them. After collecting 250 Power Stars, you get to do a special level taking place in the hub world, where you earn the last star of the game. That gives you a grand total of 251 Power Stars. Power Star
A normal star that you earn after clearing a mission.
Grand Star
The last star you earn after every world. You usually earn this star after defeating a boss. These stars also count as a Special World star.
Key
Although it is not a Power Star, it is listed here because it is something that you get after a mission is completed. After defeating certain bosses, you earn this so you can unlock certain characters.
Daredevil Star
This star requires you to do a mission you have already done, but your max health is one. You usually fight a boss to earn this star. The appearance of this star has a black glow around it.
Romp Star
This star requires you to defeat a certain amount of enemies in a certain amount of time. The appearance of this star has a yellow glow around it. It is different from the normal Power Star because that one has no glow around it.
Reverse Star
This star requires you to do a level that has already been completed, but in reverse. The appearance of this star has a blue glow around it.
Double-Time Star
This star requires you to do a level that has already been completed, but enemies are faster. Extra enemies are also added. The appearance of this star has a red glow around it.
Purple-Coin Star
This star requires you to collect 100 Purple Coins in a certain amount of time. The appearance of this star has a purple glow around it. This isn't a Special World Power Star, but it makes an exception in the Mario Squared Galaxy .
Cosmic Clone Star
This star requires you to do a mission while being chased by a Cosmic Clone. The appearance of this star has a cyan glow around it.
Speed Run Star
This star requires you to do a mission in a certain amount of time. The appearance of this star has a light blue glow around it.
Special World Power Star
This star only appears in the Special World. The appearance of this star has a white glow around it.
