A huge feature is added in the game: the city of Inkopolis has built a new, outshining city: (to come). In the city, there is a big building called the Squidheight Building. When starting the game, you will be given an apartment (1 to 500) that can be customized with accessories bought from Callie and Marie's new shop, the Squid Fashion.
Splatoon 2: Back on Track! is a team-based third-person shooter which is playable by up to eight players in online four-vs-four matches, although the game also features local one-versus-one multiplayer matches and a single player campaign. Players control characters known as the Inklings, who have the ability to transform to squid forms. In humanoid form, Inklings can shoot ink in their team's color, which can be used to cover the environment or "splat" opposing players or enemies. Transforming into a squid allows players to swim through ink of their own color, even up walls and through grates, hiding from the enemy and refill their ink supply meanwhile. Conversely, enemy ink is much slower to move across in humanoid form and cannot be swam through in squid form. Players can use their ink to try and "splatter" their opponents, which will send them back to their team's respawn point whilst also providing a large splat of ink. In all modes, players can use the Wii U GamePad to view a map of the surroundings and "super-jump" towards the location of another teammate, as well as use optional gyroscopic controls to assist with aiming.
Players mainly use a primary weapon all different in size and techniques. With each comes a sub weapon, either a bomb, mine, disruptor, etc. and finally a special weapon, which can only be used if the player's special gauge is full.
The players can also use and change clothes, and each come with a special perk that improves their stats. Some products are higher quality than others, making the lower-quality products have one perk slot, middle-quality products have two perk slots and higher-quality products have 3 slots. However, a local seller, Spyke, can make your products have more slots or change their current perks.
*Special ink Unlocked after reaching level 40./This ink will only appear if the enemy's ink is black, white, grey or brown.
The Hero Mode, also known as the Octo Ocean, is a 1 player campaign that the person fights against the Octarians. There are 8 different sections in the Octo Ocean Map, each having a boss.
|This level focuses on Cap'n Cuttlefish teaching Agent 4 (the player) how to fight the octarians.
