Spinies (Pincho in Spanish) are four-legged enemies that appear in the Super Mario Series. They wear a big, red shell with long and sharp spikes on them. They are said to be pets of the Lakitus, which tosses them are Mario to attack him. When Spinies fall from the ceiling they hide in their shell and bounce off walls. Mario can carry their Shells and he can jump on them, only if the are upside down. They are Buzzy Beetle counterparts.

They appear in Super Mario MHL as a non-playable character but an item that looks like their shell with wings appears.

In K-Koopa, Spinys first appear in PipeVille Being shot out of Ptooeys. However, They are nearly the same strength as a Goomba and can easily be defeated. They usually only Go into their shells for defense which damages opponents.
