Trophy Info[]

Seviper[]

Number 336, Seviper, the Fang Snake Pokémon. Seviper is Pokémon from the Hoenn region that's known for its long and ongoing feud with Zangoose. Its poison causing attacks are something to be feared in a battle when coming from its fangs, mouth, and tail. This Poison status attacks are what it brings to Smash. The fighters in Smash are tough enough to wear of the poison so there's no fainting here, but them being soften up for a tough hit. It seems strange that a Pokémon Trainer can bring a Zangoose and a Seviper into Double Battles as teammates.

Seviper(Alt)[]

Its Poison Tail is an offensive use of poison mechanics, so start foes early with this. Coil Bounce sends Seviper high like a spring in this unique application of Coil. Get a good charge for more distance and damage. Poison Tail is a defensive strike with a poison tail to ensure some range. This will keep foes at a distance. Venoshock is more powerful on poisoned foes, so hit foes with Venoshock before the poison wears off.

Acid Downpour[]

Tapping into the power of a Poisonium Z crystal, Seviper unleashes an poisonous swamp and forces foes to sink into the poison swamp. The swamp then spits out the foes for a high powered launch. Seviper has to trap its foes within a sludge pool in order for the Acid Downpour to work. This doesn't leave foes poisoned, however.

Special Attrib.[]

  • Phoenix Wright's "evidence" against Seviper is a Zangoose and the icon labels of types Ground and Psychic.
  • Kirby gains a cap resembling the top part of Seviper's head and tail. The ability taken is Poison Tail which is taken completely.
  • Seviper's victory theme is taken from the track heard when a Magma or Aqua grunt is defeated in Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire.

Trivia[]

  • The director announced Seviper alongside of Scizor, and Krookodile as DLC Pokémon fighters to bring in type diversity and generation diversity.
    • Interestingly, the director selected Seviper for generation 3 as a challenge and to bring a Pokémon fighter that differs from the others. He also was the primary indivdual behind the development himself.
  • Seviper stands out as a Pokémon that neither evolves or is an evolved form in the roster as of this game.
  • Phoenix's "evidence" of Zangoose refers to the feud between the species. The Ground and Psychic label icons refer to Seviper's weaknesses.
  • The director confirms this instance of Seviper is male.
