SNC Racing Evolved is an upcoming Racing game for the Nintendo Wii U. It pits characters from Nintendo, Sega and Capcom against each other in races and could be regarded as a successor to the Mario Kart and Sonic & Sega All Stars Series. The game contains over 60 Characters each with their own individual racing vehicle with 20 Characters from each company.

Gameplay

Similar to other Racing Games, SNC Racing Evolved has the player controlling their character in a racing Vehicle while attempting to reach the finish line in first after completing a certain amount of laps or passing a certain amount of checkpoints. In addition the player will have to contend with other racers to get into or stay in first.

The game contains Item Boxes which either have the appearance of the ? Blocks from Mario, Ball Capsules from Sonic or Standard Ammo Packs from Resident Evil. The player can drive through these Item Boxes to gain access to a certain item, these can range from shields, weapons, speed boosters, tangability and invincibility.

The player will always be shown a map of the course they are on and it will show the standard path to get through. In addition to this path however are shortcuts allowing the player to go off the main path and possibly take advantage, however shortcuts also can come at the cost of being more challenging due to pits, narrow pathways or hazards.

Natural Hazards appear in the games as well such as Fire, Smashing Enemies and various other hazards. While hazards in general only have a few variations in methods of hitting the player, there are many different varieties of weapons, for example the Thwomp, Wrecking Ball & V-Complex all share the same trait of attempting to crush the player as they try to go under them.

Characters

Characters are seperated into their companies with the first 60 having Red, Blue or Yellow Backgrounds to represent Nintendo, Sega or Capcom. Additionally 9 more characters from Rare, Naughty Dog, SOE, Konami, Square Enix, Level-5 & Yacht Club appear below the main three companies.

Trivia

  • Despite the Characters on the Logo not all containing multiple reps they are instead represented by having entire Cups dedicated to their series.
  • This is the first time several characters from both Sega's and Capcom's Franchises appear on a Nintendo Console. In addition Sony Characters such as Crash & Spyro make their first proper appearance.
  • Console Abyss' race track is in the shape of the Konami Code as the race track goes North then South, twice, then South-West, then East, back West, back East, then spirals up and then plummets downards, followed by it performing a Zigzag and then a loop.
  • Several Cups Names have abnormalities with their Race Courses
    • The Triforce Cup has one course in a location that have no relevance to the Triforce
    • The Popstar Cup has two courses that don't take place on Popstar
    • The Metroid Cup has two courses where Metroids didn't appear in their respective locations
    • The Umbra Cup has three courses where Umbra Witches do not reside
    • The Tyrant Cup has two courses where Tyrants never appeared in their respective locations
    • None of the Jaggi Cup's courses have Jaggi's in their regular appearance
      • A captured Jaggi appears in the Val Habar course however
