Rosalina and Chris: The Cat and the Princess Join Each Other! is a game featuring Rosalina as the main playable character, the first being Nintendo's Super Mario 3D World. Chris, the mascot of the Splapp-Me-Do's Impossible Quiz series, also appears as the main character, controlled by the second player.
On an evening in the Comet Observatory, Rosalina finds out that a brown cat is coming to the Observatory. She tells the Lumas about it. The cat came here. Rosalina told him who is he. His name is Chris. A Luma notices a hovering letter near the tree, and the group of three goes to investigate. Rosalina grabs and opens the letter, and a picture of Bowser holding Princess Peach, Mario, Luigi and Toad pops out. The message shocks the three. Rosalina tells Chris to team up and then they run to save the victims as they hurry up to the Mushroom Kingdom. After passing 15 Worlds, the two finally reach World F, where Bowser resides. Then the two heroes make their way through this world, and encounter Bowser again in The Greatest Tower of Bowser Land. Here, Bowser makes use of a Super Bell, turning into Meowser, and initiating the final battle. The group manage to defeat Meowser after climbing the tower, and rescue all of the four victims. Rosalina tries to go back to the Comet Observatory afterward. Trying to do so, she notices Green Stars falling through the sky, and chases after them. The opening scene of Super Mario 3D World plays, though after Mario and the others enter the Clear Pipe to chase Bowser, the Green Stars fall in as well, with Captain Toad and Rosalina climbing into the Clear Pipe to chase after them. World G is unlocked, with 3 Green Stars in each level. Once she has all of them, World Championship, the very last world is unlocked.
The game plays very similarly to Super Mario 3D Land, being a 3D platformer though with gameplay similar to the 2D games, like Super Mario 3D World. This game retains its predecessor's similarity to Super Mario Bros. 3. Stages are once again open yet linear, have a time limit, and end by grabbing the classic Goal Pole at the end. Getting a Super Bell as Chris transforms him into Raccoon Chris.
