A Radioactive Coin (formerly known as a Uranium Coin) is a special, glowing kind of coin only dropped by enemies in the Super Mario Bros. series. They were exclusively used to buy characters in their debut game New Super Mario Bros: The Underground and later reappeared in Super Mario Bros: Multiverse Degeneration with the same purpose. In Super Mario: Elemental Journey this aspect was dropped and they act as normal coins albeit with the same condition to get them still in place.
Description[]
A Radioactive Coin is a lime green colored coin that glows. They can dimly light up dark areas if they happen to be dropped by an enemy in a dark room, meaning the player will usually always see a Radioactive Coin when it is dropped.
Game Appearances[]
New Super Mario Bros: The Underground[]
Debuted here as a special coin that is only dropped by enemies rarely and can be used to buy characters in the various shops.
Super Mario Bros: Multiverse Degeneration[]
Reappeared here with the same purpose. Their purpose was not altered in the slightest.
Super Mario: Elemental Journey[]
Radioactive Coins were set to return in Super Mario: Elemental Journey, but were removed for various reasons. They would have not been to purchase characters, just dropped from enemies for a net worth of 3 coins.
