Puyo Puyo + Mario (Titled Puyo Puyo & Mario Mix in Japan) is a puzzle video game developed by Sonic Team and published by SEGA and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch.

The game crosses over with the Puyo Puyo series and the Super Mario franchise, making it the second game in the Puyo Puyo series to have a crossover. It is also the third game in the Puyo Puyo series to be released in the Americas and Europe.

Adventure (Story Mode)

In the story mode, Bowser, Dark Prince, and others manage to slowly merged the worlds into one, causing mischief between both worlds. Numerous characters are now trying to make it through the mischief as well as going on adventures and stopping Bowser and Dark Prince. The villains have commands so they can reverse the effect, but will it be enough to save both worlds?

Characters

Playable

There are 40 playable characters. 24 of which are available from the start while the other 16 are locked. Characters must be unlocked by clearing certain levels in Story Mode.

Each character has a Recommended COM Level that they start with, Other difficulties for the character must be unlocked. You can switch the COM level, causing different strategies to happen, as well as better combos. It's unknown how to unlock COM levels.

Each character has a normal voice and an alternate voice like in the previous installments. You choose the voice after choosing a palette swap. It's unknown how to unlock alternate voices.

You can change the characters' language in the options menu.

Palette Swaps

Each character has 4 palette swaps. After choosing a character, and a type if you have the Joy Con sideways or the difficulty for COM players, you must choose a palette swap. Once a palette swap is chosen, no one else can choose that palette swap.

Victory Speeches

Victory Speeches are dialogue that appears after a person wins. It's similar to victory speeches in Puyo Puyo Tetris. Some characters have specific victory speeches after beating a specific character.
