The Propeller Mushroom is an orange-capped Mushroom power-up that resembles a helmet with a propeller. It hovers through the air and eventually flies away. When collected, it transforms the user into Propeller Mario. It first appears in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, where it is the game's mascot flight power-up.
Much like Spindrifts and the Spin Block in New Super Mario Bros., the Propeller Mushroom grants the ability to propel high up once before landing. In the meantime, the user can gently float down or Drill Spin. These abilities can also be used by a character carrying Propeller Mario.
Some courses include Propeller Blocks that grant the same flight abilities when held. These seem to have been replaced by the wearable Propeller Box (which lacks the Drill Spin move). Regardless, the Propeller Mushroom has reappeared in several games, even replacing the Super Acorn as New Super Mario Bros. U's style-specific power-up in Super Mario Maker. It is associated with the Propeller Toad Transport airline in Mario Kart.
