The game is a 2D fighter in which a 2 teams of 2 playable characters and 1 assist chaarcter fight one another (similar to Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes). There are 30 playable characters (10 from each company) along with 24 assist characters. The game's Story Mode is in the style of a Visual Novel (like Persona 4 Arena), but the characters you play as vary on where you are in the story. The other modes are generic fighting game modes. Local and Online multiplayer are supported.

Wii U Features

The Wii U version has exclusive features including bonus playable characters from Nintendo, the ability to perform special attacks using the Wii U GamePad touch screen, and an additional Nintendo side story separate from the main story in the Story Mode.
