"Pokkén Tournament: Second Rise" is the sequel to the Pokémon fighting game, Pokkén Tournament. The game was developed by Orchillias Studios and Namco Bandai, and published by Nintendo. It is to be released in the summer of 2019. It serves as a direct sequel to the first game, once again taking place in the Ferrum region. It has an expanded roster, and many new features to improve the gameplay experience.

Gameplay

Very little about the gameplay has changed since the last installment. The phases of battle can switch between Duel and Field phase, and Pokémon can have different attacks depending on which phase it is currently in. The Synergy Gauge is what allows Pokémon to reach their ultimate power in Synergy Burst, granting them increased stats, and access to their Bust Attack. Support Pokémon have been altered slightly, however. Their function remains widely unchanged, yet now, instead of having two Supports in a pre-determined set, the Supports can now be interchanged as the player sees fit.

The game modes are also very similar:

Single Battle: Battle against a CPU opponent with your Pokémon!

Local Battle: Compete against a friend in epic battles!

Practice: Hone your skills on your path to becoming the greatest Battle Trainer!

Online Battle: Show your battle skills off to the world!

Ferrum League: Climb to the top of the Ferrum League in order to become the grandmaster of Ferrum! It has 10 different leagues:

  • Green League (E)
  • Yellow League (D)
  • Blue League (C)
  • Red League (B)
  • Silver League (A)
  • Gold League (S)
  • Crystal League (E+)
  • Hyperspace League (D+)
  • Steel League (C+)
  • Stardust League (B+)
  • Dark League (A+)
  • Omega League (S+)

Minigames (NEW): Fun games to pass the time with friends or against a CPU!
