The Kanto Pokédex has many large changes in its composition in Pokémon Solar Red and Lunar Blue.
Not including the unobtainable mythical Pokémon, there are 480 Pokémon available for capture in these titles. This includes the original 151 Pokémon from Kanto in Pokémon Red and Blue Versions, though it also includes the 100 Pokémon added in Pokémon Gold and Silver Versions. In total, there are 229 Pokémon from the third through seventh generation included in the games' Pokédex.
The Pokédex is split into four divisions based on the larger divisions of the regions within the games. Each of the four Pokédexes has 120 Pokémon within them, though two of them have an additional mythical Pokémon. To see where in the regions of the game each Pokémon can particularly be found, see the location listing.
Rural[]
The rural region in the games is the smallest out of them all. The rural region is, for the most part, within the early game. It includes Pallet Town, Viridian City, Celadon City, and all the routes spanning between them. However, it also includes New Bark City, Cherrygrove City, Violet Town, and all the routes spanning between them. Thus, the rural region is within both the beginning and end of the games.

For the most part, the routes in this area are considered "city paths" and Pokémon typical of cities may be captured in this area.
