This is the plot for Pokemon Lambda Emerald Version.
(For the plot, Skyler is the Female name of the Rival, if the player is Female the rival will be Dane, the male character. Additionally if the player is Female the appearances of Brendan and May are flipped.)
The player begins in Littleroot Town, arriving inside the player's house, the player is greeted by their Mother who tells the player that their father had to go out on a field expedition and might not be home for a while. She tells the player to go upstairs and check on their room to make sure everything is to their liking. The player heads upstairs and customizes their room to their desired appearance, then heads back downstairs. The player's Mother explains that she had just received a letter from Professor Birch that asked for the player to visit him at his Lab.
The player heads out and is suddenly halted by a stranger, a young female/male who greets themselves as Skyler explaining that they two had been told to meet Professor Birch at his Labratory and wanted to meet the player before deciding their starter. Just as the Skyler offers to take the player to the lab, they see two Pokemon descend from sky with Trainers on their backs.
A Tropius and an Altaria land in front of the player & Skyler, the two trainers atop the Pokemon jump off revealing themselves to be Brendan & May. They greet the duo and intended to meet the new neighbours in Littleroot, referring to the player & Skyler. Skyler stutters for words, to which Brendan explains that like the player & Skyler, he and May were also rivals when they were younger and have since become battling partners. May speaks up explaining that hopefully Professor Birch hasn't gotten caught up in his field work like last time (referring to when Brendan/May encounter him in ORAS). The duo return their Pokemon and head towards the lab.
Skyler takes a moment and recomposes herself, stating that she'll direct the player to the lab for them, since Littleroot has changed a fair bit. The player follows Skyler to the Lab and tags along inside. The two meet up with Brendan and May again as well as Professor Birch who is inspecting a Mightyena. Birch turns to face the duo and greets them, exclaiming how he was eager to meet the duo and test whether they were ready to begin their Pokemon Journey. Brendan hands Birch a capsule which Birch approaches the Player & Skyler with presenting it to them with three Pokeballs inside, Birch explains that the three Pokemon within the Pokeballs are rare Pokemon not seen in Hoenn easily and it was lucky that through Breeding he has been able to acquire a magnitude of the three Pokemon.
Skyler offers to let the player choose first explaining that she has seen the player's personality and believes she can predict which Pokemon the player chooses. The player has the choice between Treecko, the Grass-Type, Torchic, the Fire-Type & Mudkip, the Water-Type, regardless of which Pokemon the player chooses, Skyler will pick the one strong against it. After this Birch explains that he'd like to see how well the player knows how to battle and has Brendan and May team up against the Player & Skyler. In this Double Battle the player and Skyler face against a Zigzagoon & Poochyena although it isn't specified whether Brendan or May own the Zigzagoon or Poochyena. After the battle, Birch will congratulate the player and Skyler on victory (the battle is scripted in such a way that the player cannot lose), explaining that along their journey they will encounter strong trainers who will challenge them to battles out in the field without warning, so Birch recommends that the Player & Skyler keep their teams healthy.
Birch then requests that the two investigate a strange patch of soil up in Route 103. Skyler runs off before Birch can continue, to which Birch requests that the player bring Skyler her Pokedex as he intended to give both the player and her their Pokedexes, in addition he also gives the player their Pokedex and explains how it is able to record the information of Pokemon the player sees and captures. The player heads of North towards Oldale Town, where a group of Youngsters & Lasses tell the player that they cannot go to Route 102 until they have Pokeballs to capture Pokemon. The Player continues northwards into Route 103 and meets up with Skyler who found the mysterious patch of soil, and explains how it's a Berry Patch and that there is an Oran Berry currently planted in the ground, she then gives the player an Oran Berry explaining how there was an Oran Tree there and it dropped 3 Oran Berries. She tells the player to give their Pokemon the Oran Berry and then asks the player to see if they're up for a battle, regardless of the player's decision they will eventually have to battle Skyler to continue, in the battle Skyler also has an Oran Berry attached to her starter.
After being defeated, Skyler states that she won't slip up again and notices the player has a Pokedex and realizes that she didn't get one off of Birch, the player then gives Skyler her Pokedex to which Skyler thanks the player and says that they should head back to Littleroot to meet up with Professor Birch and report their findings. As the player heads back through Oldale they are stopped by a mysterious individual who asks the player if they are on their way to Littleroot, regardless of the player's answer, the individual will ask the player to deliver a package to Professor Birch and then walks away.
Once the player returns to Professor Birch, Skyler will ask them what took them, to which Professor Birch will tell Skyler to not be so impatient. Skyler apologizes and explains that she's already informed Professor Birch on the soil being able to support Berries, Birch thanks Skyler and asks the player what the package they are carrying is, to which the player gives the package to Professor Birch, who opens it and finds to his surprise a third Pokedex and 10 Pokeballs. Birch confused uploads the Pokedex and to his surprise it is mostly completed, he displays the Pokedex on his monitor for the player and Skyler to see and shows them all the Pokemon that the Pokedex had encountered. He tells the player that whoever gave him that package is an experienced trainer, he also realizes that the 10 Pokeballs are intended for the player and Skyler and give them 5 each, explaining that they should go out and conquer the eight gyms to fill their Pokedexes since exploration and battling are the best methods of finding new Pokemon, and perhaps if they feel brave to go try and defeat the Pokemon League.
Skyler, tells the player that she's determined to beat the player again and won't quit until she has bested them at least once. Skyler heads off and Professor Birch suggests the player go see Norman in Petalburg City as he will have advice on which Gym to face first. Professor Birch bids the player farewell as they leave. The player heads to Petalburg City, along the way encountering some of their first Trainer Battles. Upon arriving they are greeted by the stranger again, stating that he is glad to see the player is progressing on their journey, he continues explaining that Norman is the father of May and is an experienced trainer just like her. The player goes to see Norman who tells the player that he was expecting them, continuing stating that Skyler had just passed by and he'd sent her along towards Rustboro City. Norman tells the player that there are 8 Gyms across Hoenn, each Gym has a Gym Leader who specializes in a certain type of Pokemon and each are set up to be taken on a particular order. Norman continues, explaining that the Rustboro Gym is the first Gym most trainers face against and that the Rustboro Gym specializes in Rock Types. Norman continues, stating that the gym in Petalburg is usually the fifth Gym trainers face so when the player has collected 4 badges they should come back to Petalburg to fight its Gym Leader.
The player heads off towards Rustboro City, along the way they are greeted by an old sailor and his grandson, the Sailor greets the player telling them that his name is Mr. Briney and that he and his grandson, Bainbridge run a long distance ferry service to the nearby islands off the south-west coast of Hoenn and that they'd like the player to advertise the service to the nearby towns. Mr. Briney then gives the player 4 posters, explaining that each one is intended for the four towns & cities nearby; Littleroot, Oldale, Petalburg & Rustboro.
The player continues onwards into Petalburg Woods where they find a couple of individuals dressed in green suits intimidating a couple. The player walks over to the individuals and hears them telling the couple that they should join Team Astral, the couple tell the questionable individuals that they don't want to be a part of Team Astral to which they seek the player to help them. The player engages the first Team Astral Grunt and defeats them. The second Team Astral Grunt explains that she is surprised the player was able to best her colleague but won't let the same happen to her and battles the player, however despite the player already having battled is again defeated. The Team Astral Grunts explain that they will have their revenge and retreat to the north. The couple thank the player explaining that they used to be a part of two old teams called Team Magma & Team Aqua respectively however their teams did nearly disastorous things to the region and had disbanded after realizing and repenting against their crimes.
However they explain that over the course of the last 7 years they've slowly been losing contact with a lot of their old friends from Team Magma & Team Aqua and fear that this new team, Team Astral is where most of them have ended up. They tell the player that they should be wary if they see anymore Team Astral Grunts. The player continues on towards Rustboro City, coming out of Petalburg Woods they entire the Berry Fields of Route 104, the player is suddenly greeted by an old lady who explains that she moved to Route 104 due to the highly fertile soil of the route and explains the use of berries. The player is allowed to pick Berries from the surrounding fields and continue to Rustboro City.
After exploring Rustboro City the player comes across the gym of the city and finds that the Gym Guide is blocking the entrance, the Gym Guide explains that the Gym Leader is currently busy with the president of the Devon Corp, the player heads over to Devon Corp however they are told by one of the employees that they are not permitted to head to the above levels unless they get permission from an executive, the player heads out and is greeted by Steven who introduces himself and explains that he overheard the player's discussion with the employee and would like to help the player if they can assist him in some research. The player agrees and Steven tells the player to meet him at the entrance to the Rusturf Cavern.
Before the player can leave Rustboro to head to Route 116 and towards Rusturf Cavern, Skyler catches up to the player and asks them how they're progressing in their journey and offers to test their skills in a battle. After defeating Skyler, she explains that she also came to tell the player that she'd recently acquired a Hidden Machine from the workers on Route 116 and that the player should go talk to them if they want one as well. The player heads into Route 116 which has changed due to the increased amount of development in Rustboro forcing it to become more Rocky in appearance.
Eventually the player meets up with Steven who explains that deeper in cavern are some old fossils that had moved from Route 111 due to a series of underground explorations in the surrounding area. The player delves deeper into the Cavern with Steven and soons comes upon the fossils however is stopped by the Team Astral Grunts from Petalburg Woods, they exlcaim how they've gotten stronger since they last met the player and tell them to be give up the fossils. The Team Astral Grunts charge through the player and Steven and grab the fossils, Steven offers the player to choose which Fossil they want to recover, after the player decides which Team Astral Grunt to face, Steven engages the other grunt. The player defeats the grunt and recovers the Fossil whilst Steven recovers the other Fossil. The two Team Astral Grunts vow that the player has made a horrible mistake in crossing them again and the player will fear the wrath of their boss. Steven thanks the player for their assistance in recovering the fossils and offers the player the option to swap fossils if they don't like the one they got, regardless of the player's decision Steven will take the other fossil back to Devon Corp, explaining that he wants to analyze it for research towards ancient Pokemon, he tells the player that he will ensure the player is able to head to the upper floors and meet the president of Devon Corp. The player heads back to Rustboro however before heading into the Devon Corp Building is stopped by Skyler who tells the player that Professor Birch has to give the player a gift and that he's waiting in the Rustboro Pokemon Center. Skyler then heads off allowing the player to go find the president of Devon Corp and the Rustboro Gym Leader. Upon reaching the top floor, the president, who introduces himself as Steven's Father, Mr. Stone. He explains that he apologizes for preventing the player from testing their skills in his city's local Gym and introduces the player to Roxanne, the Rustboro City Gym Leader.
Roxanne thanks Mr. Stone, telling the player that she, like Mr. Stone is very interested in educating the children of Rustboro and while Mr. Stone is more of a business man, Roxanne has been able to with the assistance of Devon Corp teach the children within the environments that are relevant to their education. She tells the player to be prepared as despite being a Teacher she is still a determined Trainer and won't lose easily, she tells the player to meet her at the Rustboro Gym if they're ready to face her. Roxanne heads off and the player soon follows, entering the Rustboro Gym. The Gym is structured much like a series of tunnels, within the tunnels are various switches and buttons that when pressed activate or de-activate fake walls and trap doors making the player have to figure out the way to get through the Gym.
Throughout the gym the player encounters various pupils of Roxanne who tell the player that she had taught them how to train Pokemon and won't let the player reach her. However the player soon surpasses the trainers and finds Roxanne at the back of the gym, she congratulates the player on solving the puzzle of her gym and explains how like her pupils she specializes in Rock Types due to their sturdy defences and powerful attacks. The player challenges Roxanne and through the battle, the player gains the upper hand and wins, Roxanne somewhat dissapointed in her loss, congratulates the player telling them that they were a great opponent and that if they battle again she will be sure to beat the player. Roxanne continues, explaining that across Hoenn are 8 Gyms the player must conquer, if they are aiming for the next Gym she suggests heading to Dewford Island were another Gym Leader is known for their surfing skills and work ethic.
The player receives the Stone Badge from Roxanne as well as the TM for Rock Breaker. The player heads out of the Rustboro Gym and is greeted by Skyler (assuming they have not already visited Professor Birch yet), she tells the player that Professor Birch has been waiting for the player and she directs the player to the Pokemon Center. Inside Professor Birch explains to the player that their mother had recently acquired a PokeNav Ultimate and intended to give it to the player. Professor Birch continues stating that he would've gotten Brendan or May to deliver it however they were both occupied with research at Mt. Pyre. Professor Birch gives the player the PokeNav and explains its functions, after explaining the Match Call Feature, Steven calls and explains that he had been notified by Birch about the player receiving a PokeNav Ultimate and registers his number for the player, he explains that he'll also register Roxanne's in case the player or Roxanne want to have a rematch. Professor Birch tells the player that he's heading back to Littleroot and wishes the player, best of luck on their adventure.
After the player is about to leave Rustboro City, they are caught up by Skyler who issues the player another battle, telling them that she had gotten a Stone Badge as well and wants to see who has the stronger team. Skyler battles the player however the player overcomes her Pokemon and defeats her, Skyler tells the player that she will train harder and they will battle again. The player heads into Petalburg Woods however partway through Petalburg Woods, the player is stopped by a pair of Team Astral Grunts taking Mr. Briney deep into the Woods. Bainbridge soon arrives and asks the player to help him rescue his Grandfather, the player & Bainbridge team up and head into Deep Petalburg Woods to rescue Mr. Briney.
The player and Bainbridge soon corner the two Team Astral Grunts with Bainbridge demanding that the grunts release his father. The grunts explain how they plan on forcing Mr. Briney to make them a Submarine to investigate the deep waters of Hoenn. The player & Bainbridge then team up and fight the Team Astral Grunts, soon defeating them which surprises them, they admit defeat and hand over Mr. Briney explaining that they will find another way of building the submarine. As they leave, Mr. Briney and Bainbridge thank the player for their help in the issue and Mr. Briney asks the player to come see him in his house once they've put all the advertisements up.
Once the player has put all the advertisements up and gone to visit Mr. Briney again he will thank the player for all they've done and explain that he will let the player ride the ferry for free since they helped save Mr. Briney. The player takes the ferry to Dewford Island where their next Gym Battle is. Upon arriving, they are greeted by Steven who explains that the Gym Leader had headed to a secret coast line on the West side of Dewford Island. Steven requests the player assist him in some archeological research again and in exchange will show the player the way to the secret coast. The player (after having obtained HM06 Rock Smash) meets up with Steven inside Granite Cave. Steven explains how around 8 years ago, two destructive teams, Team Magma & Team Aqua rose up from two power-hungry people and were bent on changing the world to their liking, one by expanding the landmass and the other by raising the ocean. Steven continues, stating that there is various pieces of ancient text scribbled all over the walls of Granite Cave indicating the history of the two legendary Pokemon that the Teams sought after to achieve their goals, he explains how both teams were stopped and the Super-Ancient Pokemon fell into a slumber. Steven and the player investigate the cave further and Steven continues his story explaining how in ancient times when the two Pokemon would awaken they would clash for supremacy, however a third Pokemon was able to stop the two Pokemons rampages using its mighty roars to force the duo to retreat.
The player and Steven soon reach an old painting off the Legendary Pokemon, he points out Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza and explains how each of them worked as a trio, suddenly the player and Steven hear an explosion from the entrance to the area they just cam into, as the dust settles, Steven and the Player find themselves surrounded by 7 Team Astral Grunts and what appears to be a leader of the grunts. The leader walks forwards and introduces himself as Delta, one of the four Commanders of Team Astral, he explains how the paintings within Granite Cave not only tell the story of Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza but also supress the three Pokemon's true Powers, he continues explaining that by destroying the paintings they will force Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza to rampage across Hoenn, laying it to waste in their goals for world domination. Steven argues back stating that in doing this they will destroy themselves, however Delta states that Team Astral will find the Orbs of the Legendary Pokemon and control them in their destruction. Steven and the player walk towards Delta, however the player is surrounded by the grunts and is challenged to a battle by all of them simultaneously while Steven handles Delta.
Despite having to face off against 7 Grunts, the player is able to overpower all of them due to their low-levelled Pokemon and soon wins. The grunts exclaim how this turn of events was not the plan, however Delta silences them and orders them to destroy the main painting, the grunts oblige and throw several mines onto the cave painting and detonate them causing a massive cave-in. Steven tells the player to find the way out as he will hunt down the grunts and Delta. The player is then left to wander in the inky darkness of Granite Cave's depths however soon sees light emitting from an exit, upon getting out, the player finds themselves on a beach but there is no sign of any civilization, suddenly the player sees a man off in the distance, the man dives into the water and soon resurfaces at the shoreline, greeting himself he explains that he is Brawly, the Dewford City Gym Leader, he had fled from Granite Cave due to him fearing the cave-ins from earlier might've caused the cave to collapse completely, however he tells the player not to fear as he'll take the player back to Dewford.
The two soon find themselves outside the main entrance to Granite Cave, Steven appears out of the cave entrance, surprised to the see the player and Brawly. He explains how despite his best efforts, Delta and the grunts were able to flee deeper into the cave, continuing, Steven tells of how Granite Cave has an underground passage beneath Hoenn to the mainland and he suspects they'll resurface near Lavaridge Town, he bids the player and Brawly farewell and heads off. Brawly turns to the player and questions what Steven meant by "Delta and the Grunts", after a brief explanation Brawly understands the player's description and states that when Team Aqua & Team Magma were raging Global Domination against Hoenn, Dewford Town was hardly affected despite its ties to the Super Ancient Legendary Pokemon; Groudon & Kyogre. Brawly tells the player that he appreciates the player accompanying him out of Granite Cave and explains that he will be vigilant of any future suspicious individuals on the Island and invites the player to challenge him in his Gym.
The player soon heads to the Dewford Gym, upon entering finds it to be very dark, talking to the Gym Guide, he reveals that the Gym has multiple platforms that connect the three training levels together, by changing from one to another the player will soon be able to reach Brawly by following the correct path. The Gym Guide, continues explaining that defeating Gym Trainers will brighten the surroundings so it would be in the Player's best interest to defeat everyone. The Trainers in the Dewford Gym, talk about how they've trained in harsh environments and their admiration for Brawly as an instructor and sparring partner. Eventually the player reaches Brawly, who again thanks the player for them helping drive Delta and the others out of Granite Cave. Brawly explains how in battle, trainers have to understand what types of moves can deal different forms of damage, he continues stating that like human combat, Pokemon Battles have different techniques; Physical, Special & Status. He asks the player if they understand how to use the three to their advantage, if the player answers Yes, then Brawly will battle them, stating that he will see if they speak the truth.
The player battles Brawly, and despite his powerful Fighting Type Pokemon, the player overcomes Brawly. After the battle, Brawly congratulates the player on their strong Pokemon and gives the player the Knuckle Badge, recognizing the potential the player's Pokemon have. Brawly also gives the player the TM for Counter Slash, explaining that the move is more powerful if used after the opponent and has the added bonus of potentially increasing the Accuracy of the user. Brawly explains that the player's next goal should be to head to Vendaturf Town where the next Gym Leader is located, he explains that the player will have to unfortunately take the long way through Slateport City and Mauville City due to a rockslide in Rusturf Tunnel.
The player heads off and is quickly greeted Mr. Briney who asks the player how they went on their battle against Brawly, however Brawly quickly arrives and explains that the player had put up a great fight and was definitely a tough trainer. Bainbridge comes out of the ship and asks the player if they could show him just how powerful they are, the player accepts and Mr. Briney and Bainbridge invite Brawly to team up with the player to which Brawly accepts and the battle ensues.
After being defeated, Bainbridge sighs in dissapointment, although Mr. Briney just laughs and tells Bainbridge to cheer up and should be thankful that the player gave them a good battle. Mr. Briney offers the player a lift to the nearby Sedigate City which can lead the player northwards. The player accepts and the ship sets sail, soon arriving in Sedigate City, Mr. Briney explains that if the player wishes to reach Vendaturf Town, they'll need to head North. The player heads off into Sedigate City, where they run into a young woman, the woman introduces herself as Ralin, a master cyclist in Hoenn, suddenly a few Team Astral Grunts arrive, explaining that they intend to take her Pokemon for their high speed travelling capabilities, Railin quickly asks the player if they'll help her defeat the Team Astral Grunts, the player accepts and battles the Grunts with Railin.
The player and Railin defeat the Grunts who tell them that they'll return and get Railin's Pokemon. The grunts leave and Railin thanks the player for their help, she explains that she is the daughter of Rydel and had recently returned from Kalos after competing in a race against one of the Gym Leaders in the region, Grant. She tells the player that if they come to Mauville City, she'll ask her father to lend the player a bike if they want one as it will allow for easier travel. She thanks the player again and then heads off North. The player continues around Sedigate and just as they're about to leave Skyler arrives asking the player if they've seen the new Pokemon Contest, regardless of the player's response Skyler tells them that the crowd that was previously in front of Sedigate City's Pokemon Contest Theater have left and it's now easier to get inside.
Skyler takes the player to the Pokemon Contest Theater and inside they find many Pokemon and Pokemon Trainer's practicing with their Pokemon, the player and Skyler head over to see one of the current contests, where they witness two Co-ordinators one with an Gyarados & Milotic and the other with an Altaria & Fraelis, the Co-ordinators perform various moves with their Pokemon and the player and Skyler watch the Pokemon perform. After the contest, the player and Skyler go to meet the two Co-ordinators who introduce themselves as Lisia & Wallace, they see the player and Skyler and ask them if they are Pokemon Co-ordinators, the player and Skyler explain that they're both Pokemon Trainers although Skyler expresses her interest in Pokemon Contests, Lisia laughs explaining that she and Wallace are like that except with Training and Contests the other way round. Wallace interrupts asking if the player and Skyler would like to be permitted to compete in Pokemon Contests, the player and Skyler agrre on the proposal and Wallace and Lisia give them two items, a Pokemon Contest Card which Wallace explains allows them to compete in the Pokemon Contests as well as a Pokeblock Case which allows them to create Pokeblocks from Berries as Lisia explains. Wallace (note if the player is Female this part if fufilled by Lisia) then directs the player to the Dressing Room while Lisia (Wallace if the player is Female) directs Skyler to the other Dressing Room. Wallace asks the player how they want to make viewers of the contest feel, the player can reply with either; Excited, Agitated or Tense, based on the player's response Wallace will give the player one of three suits and tell the player to do their best in the Pokemon Contests.
The player and Wallace return to the main entrance and Skyler & Lisia soon arrive as well, Wallace and Lisia tell the player and Skyler that if they compete well enough in each Rank that one day they may be able to face off against Wallace or Lisia in a Pokemon Contest. They bid the player and Skyler farewell before heading off, Skyler turns to the player and tells the player that she is going to try out some Pokemon Contests before continuing onwards.
The player heads north towards Slateport City, however along the way the player stops by a large greenhouse, the owner exits the greenhouse and greets the player introducing themself as the Bery Master, Cherron, he explains that his Greenhouse takes care of many berries and invites the player inside. The player accepts and heads inside to find large plantations of berries. Sheer on explains that he takes care of the berries planted in the fields and if the player finds berries they should bring them to the greenhouse to grow into berry trees, Cheron continues explaining that occasionally there are mutation in the berry trees which can result in new berries and suggests the player check every now and again to see if the trees have produced berries. Cherron then introduces the player to his son Trent, who explains that he can provide the player with fertiliser to increase certain factors of the berry trees.
The player begins to head of, however is halted by a group of Team Astral Grunts lead by a commander, the commander introduces herself as Epsilon and that Team Astral is taking control of the Greenhouse, planning to convert it into a solar energy generator for their own plans. Trent asks for the player to help stop Team Astral, the player, Trent and Cherron face off against three waves of 9 Grunts (Triple Battle).
After the player, Cheron and Trent defeat the grunts, Epsilon commends the trio on their efforts and offers to battle th player, the player accepts and the two engage in battle Despite her Pokemon, Epsilon is defeated by the player, surprised by the outcome she commends the player and states that had they become part of Team Astral instead of fighting it, they could've become a commander like her. Epsilon then leads the grunts out of the greenhouse, telling the player that if she sees them again she will be sure to be stronger. After Epsilon and the grunts leave, Cherron and Trent thank the player explaining that they couldn't possibly have defeatedTeam Astral without the player's help, Cherron gives the player 10 Sitrus Berries explaining that the player that the berry should be held by their Pokemon and see what happens in battle.
The player leaves the Greenhouse and is greeted by Skyler who notices that the player was in the greenhouse and asks who the people who left earlier were, the player explains that the people were Team Astral and their intentions, Skyler pauses for a moment and tells the player that if she sees and Team Astral members she'll give them a piece of her mind. She continues, stating that she'll prove how powerful her team is by facing the player in a battle. Skyler battles the player, however the player is able to overcome their rival again defeating Skyler. After the battle, Skyler sighs in dissapointment and tells the player that she'll keep training and the next time she battles her team will be far stronger.
The player continues onwards and eventually reaches Slateport City. Upon arriving, the player is greeted by Railin who tells the player that Mauville City is just a bit further North, however to get there, the player will have to go through the underpass, an area with Dark and Poison Type Pokemon and warns the player to be careful. She then tells the player that when they arrive at Mauville she'll be waiting outside Rydel's Cycles for them. She heads off and the player heads off towards the North Gate of Slateport, however upon reaching it, the player is stopped by a voice and the mysterious individual from Oldale arrives, they introduce themself apologizing for not being more polite the last time the two met, introducing himself as Pamus, explaining that like the player he too is a Pokemon Trainer and desires to see every Pokemon, he further explains that his endeavours have lead him to discover the ability of Mega Evolution and how to harness the power for his Pokemon, he offers to show the player this power and the player accepts. During the Battle, Pamus has a Mega Raichu to show the player how Mega Evolution works. The player is still able to defeat Pamus who congratulates the player on being able to defeat his Pokemon, he gives the player a Mega Key Stone, explaining that with this and a Pokemon's own Mega Stone, the player will also be able to perform Mega Evolution. He then offers the player one of three Mega Key Stone Holders; A Gauntlet, A Bracelet & A Necklace, Pamus then gives the player the item they chose. They tell the player that scattered throughout Hoenn are the elusive Mega Stones each with the power to allow a Pokemon to Mega Evolve. Pamus bids the player farewell before heading off. The player continues North into the Underpass.
Upon the player entering the Underpass they run into Skyler, who asks the player if they can pair up since Team Astral Grunts are lurking about, and there was mysterious noise coming from further within the Underpass. The player agrees and the duo begin their descent into the Underpass encountering Poison & Dark Pokemon as well as various Bikers, Thugs, Roughnecks & Punks.
Eventually the player and Skyler begin running into Team Astral Grunts, the Team Astral Grunts makes it clear that they are going to steal the Pokemon from the Underpass as well as convert the Thugs and other trainers into Members of Team Astral. Eventually the Player & Skyler reach the source of the mysterious sounds, where it is revealed that a Magneton was stuck in the wiring of the Underpass, upon approaching the Pokemon however, the player and Skyler are halted by more Team Astral Grunts, as well as another Commander who introduces himself as Theta and tells the player and Skyler that he'd been trailing them, expecting them to lead him to the secret entrance to the New Mauville Facility, however upon finding out that it was only a lone Magneton, he states that he will have to take his revenge out on the duo, Skyler tels the player to let her take on Theta while the player handles the grunts, the player obliges and is surrounded by the eight grunts, who tell the player that they're going to regret messing with Team Astral. The player engages the grunts in a 16v1 Horde Battle, however due to the low levelled Pokemon of the Grunts they are all defeated, admitting their weakess in battle. The player then sees Skyler who has been defeated by Theta, who expresses his admiration in her attempt to best him, he however states that he is far too powerful for an individual such as herself, and approaches the player telling them that he will now take his revenge out on the player. The player and Theta engage in battle and Theta uses his strong Poison Type Pokemon, however is soon defeated by the player.
Theta, staggers after defeat, surprised by the player's Pokemon. He warns the player that his interference with Team Astral will cease immediately and that any future attempts to intervene with their operations will result in a swift defeat. Theta calls on the grunts and leaves.
Skyler thanks the player for stopping Theta, however expresses her dissapointment in herself stating that she's too weak to fight a villainous team like Team Astral, the player attempts to comfort her, however to little effect. The Magneton that was caught in the wiring gets loose, and floats over to Skyler, and rests on her shoulder to Skyler's surprise. The Magneton then floats up and performs a powerful Electric Attack on the wiring where it was being held and reveals a passage, upon entering the passage, the player and Skyler find the entrance to the New Mauville Facility, and Skyler tells the player that they have to keep it a secret from Team Astral, the player agrees, although they suddenly are interrupted by an unseen individual, the individual reveals himself to be Wattson, he explains that he'd hoped to keep the New Mauville Facility hidden for as long as possible and explains how after the aftermath of shutting down the New Mauville Facility, the Electric Pokemon within began rampaging, and he had the location sealed off from the rest of Hoenn. He explains that the Magneton now floating next to Skyler, was the protector of the entrance and was meant to keep it sealed away from any intruder who couldn't prove themself, he explains that the Magneton clearly saw the good intentions in both Skyler and the Player and allowed them to see the New Mauville Facility, he continues by telling Skyler that he has also made mistakes in the past due to being weak, however through determination and perseverance he was able to overcome the obstacles and set his sights on the future. Wattson continues by telling Skyler that while she may not face the Team Astral Commander again, she can keep training and become stronger than before, Wattson tells Skyler that she should take Magneton with her as it has guarded the secret of the New Mauville Facility for long enough and Wattson will find another way to keep the entrance hidden. Wattson then takes his leave and tells the player and Skyler that they should come to Mauville City as he'd like to give them both something for their journeys. Skyler tells the player that she'll keep training and that she'll make sure that even if she can't beat the player, that she'll make sure she has a good battle and departs off towards Mauville. The player heads towards the Mauville Exit of the Underpass and arrives in Mauville City.
Upon entering Mauville City, the player is greeted by Wattson who thanks the player again for helping the Magneton out earlier, he tells the player that Skyler is waiting at the Pokemon Center, and he'll give them both the gift for their journeys. The player heads to the Pokemon Center in the center of Mauville City and Skyler and Wattson see them upon entering. The player walks over to the two and Wattson once again thanks the player and Skyler for stopping Team Astral from getting inside the New Mauville Facility, he continues stating that he has always been a bit of a technician and has worked on and with other inventors creating many devices, he then gives the player and Skyler an Exp. Share each, explaining that the Exp. Share when activated will make their entire team gain experience even if only one battles, he continues stating that the Exp. Share evenly distributes the Experience so the more Pokemon on the player's team the less Exp. for each Pokemon per battle, although the overall amount is the same. He continues stating that they should come to the Mauville School of Training where they can test their skills as a team against a variety of Trainers and if they can defeat the head of the School, they'll get a present each.
The player is then free to roam the city, however upon trying to exit from the North, East or West exits will result in Skyler telling the player, that they should go check out the School of Training before leaving. The player heads to the School of Training and within finds many students who battle the player using various Pokemon and items, some even having Double Battles with the player using various techniques. Eventually the player reaches the other end of the Building and finds Wattson at the end, he explains that he was glad the player was able to reach him and that he is the head of the School and will test the player's abilities in battle.
Once the Player defeats Wattson, he'll laugh stating that he's glad that even in his old age, he can still have fun battles. He congratulates the player on their battle and gives the player two Mega Stones; Manectite & Raichuite, Skyler arrives soon after and Wattson tells her that the player had battled very well and he's eager to battle her next. Skyler tells the player and Wattson that she needs to figure out which Pokemon to use first before she battles Wattson, allowing the player to leave. After the player heads out they are caught up by Railin who tells the player that her father, Rydel had returned from his business trip on the upper levels of Mauville City and that the player can get a bike now. Railin directs the player to the Bike Shop and the two head inside, Rydel, surprised to see the player with Railin asks if the player is one of her friends, Railin tells Rydel that the player is and that they helped her against some thugs. Rydel walks up to the player and thanks the player, telling them that he wouldn't know what to do in such a situation as he's no Pokemon Trainer, he decides to offer the player a bike in return for helping Railin, giving the player the option of the Acro Bike which allows the player to perform Jumping Stunts, The Mach Bike which allows the player to perform Speed Stunts and the Grip Bike which allows the player to perform Loop Stunts. Once the player chooses, Rydel goes behind the counter and gets the bike the player requested and tells the player that due to the income he gets from regular customers, he's able to let Railin's friends have bikes as well, he also informs the player that they can come back anytime to swap their bike out for another one, however they are limited to only carrying one at the time as the Bikes are too heavy in multitude.
The player heads out towards Vendaturf Town, along the route, the player is stopped by an Elderly Couple, they ask the player if they know about Pokemon Breeding, the player responds with some confusion allowing the Elderly Couple to explain that the Pokemon Daycare on the route will allow the player to leave two Pokemon in the daycare and occassionally the Pokemon may produce an egg if they're compatible, the Elderly Couple reveal that they own the Daycare and head inside, insisting the player come visit if they're interested. Just as the player is about to enter Vendaturf Town, they are stopped by Skyler who tells the player that she's toughened up her team and now that she's defeated Wattson is even stronger than before and will test the player, she tells the player that Wattson have her a Mega Key Stone and tells the player to be prepared. The player engages Skyler in battle and despite her best attempts she is defeated, Skyler confused about why her Mega Stone didn't work, figures out that she also needs a Mega Stone for her Pokemon and tells the player that next time, she'll be ready to defeat them.
The player soon arrives in Ventadurf and is greeted by a young man, who introduces himself as Wally, telling the player that he'd heard from Professor Birch that they were coming to Vendaturf to battle the Gym Leader, Wally quickly states that he's not the Gym Leader, although the Gym Leader is currently out in the Aroma Forest, just to the south of Vendaturf and the player can find them in there. Wally cautions the player, stating that the forest is a maze and the paths go everywhere, he recalls that the Gym Leader usually leaves hints as to which direction to progress through the Forest. Wally tells the player that he once battled Brendan and May and got to see their potential as trainers grow over time and says that he believes he's sees a similar potential in the player and Skyler. Wally departs leaving the player to wander around Vendaturf. The player heads to the South Gate of Vendaturf and is stopped by a young girl and her mother, who introduce themselves as Wanda & Winnie. Wanda tells the player that she is Wally's Cousin and that he was meant to give the player a special item from Professor Birch but he'd left it on the table in her house. Wanda invites the player to receive the item, and heads inside, when the player enters, Winnie quickly runs over to the table and grabs the item, and brings it to the player telling them that it's a special machine that can find hidden items, she gives the player the item which turns out to be a Dowsing Machine, Wanda thanks Winnie for explaining the item and tells the player that Birch has many gadgets that he keeps with him so there may be more from him in the future. The player is then free to head south into Aroma Forest.
Upon entering the player finds themselves greeted by a small Oddish, the Oddish charges into the player, knocking the player’s Pokedex out and the Oddish picks it up with its leaves and runs off. The player gives chase following the leaves and spores the Oddish drops. Eventually the player makes it to a clearing, the Oddish being cornered, runs up to a mysterious individual, the individual turns around and notices the player and talks to the Oddish asking if the Oddish took the Pokedex, the Oddish drops it and the woman picks it up, she walks over to the player and hands them their Pokedex, apologizing for the Oddish’s behaviour explaining that it is cautious around intruders in its forest. The woman introduces herself as Ramona, the Vendaturf Town Gym Leader. She tells the player that she can’t return to the Gym as there are Team Astral Grunts held up in the sacred shrine of the forest below the clearing where they are. Ramona asks the player to help her clear out the Team Astral Grunts and the player agrees. The two head down a set of vines and into a cave passage.
The player and Ramona soon find some Team Astral Grunts who tell the two that Team Astral is conducting Sample Research in the area, looking for secrets of the forest’s growth. The player and Romana team up against the various grunts, battling each set of grunts they come across and delving deeper into the passage. Eventually reaching the bottom, the player and Ramona come across a Team Astral Commander who is revealed to actually be Delta, infuriated that he was defeated back in Granite Cave, he calls on his superior, the Lieutenant Commander, Gamma. Gamma introduces herself telling the player and Ramona that she’d heard quite a bit about each of them from various sources, telling them both that she already understands the threat each of them pose on Team Astral’s operations. She tells the pair that they’ve already concluded their investigation on the area, and as a present to herself, she and Delta are going to defeat the player and Ramona. Ramona simply laughs, stating that she’ll never let a group of individuals like Team Astral harm the Aroma Forest. Ramona asks the player to team up with her once again, against the two Team Astral Commanders. The player agrees and the duo engage in a battle against the commanders, despite the commanders having a Type advantage against Ramona’s Pokemon, the player and Ramona are able to pull through and defeat the Commander Duo. Delta, frustrated from losing again, vows a personal vendetta against the player and that the next time they meet, he will utterly crush the player. Gamma tells Delta to shut it, stating that he’s acting unprofessional and commends the player and Ramona on being powerful trainers, and states that their impacts on Team Astral won’t be enough to stop their Master Plan. The two commanders head off along with the Team Astral grunts.
Ramona tells the player that they should head back to the clearing, the player and Ramona do so and upon arriving, Ramona thanks the player for helping to fight against, Team Astral, she tells the player that she’s unsure what Team Astral’s Plans are exactly although from what she’s heard from the other Gym Leaders, it involves reviving one of the Super Ancient Legendary Pokemon, she tells the player that now that Team Astral has been dealt with, she’ll gladly await the player in the Vendaturf Gym, when they’re ready to face off and heads into the forest. As the player is heading back through the forest they run into Pamus, who tells them that he’s been looking for the player and wanted to request a battle, he explains that he’s been training up some Pokemon and believes they should pose an interesting challenge to the player. The player accepts, although Pamus notices the player’s Pokemon have already battled a bit and heals them up before starting the battle.
The player eventually is able to overcome Pamus’ team of Pokemon and Pamus laughs, congratulating the player on defeating his team, he tells the player that many trainers and even Gym Leaders will use tactics to benefit their Pokemon in the best way possible, he explains that Ramona is known for using Pokemon that can inflict Status Ailments such as Poison, Paralysis & Sleep and suggests the player carefully choose Pokemon to avoid such an occurrence. Pamus then bids the player farewell and heads deeper into the forest. The player soon arrives back in Vendaturf Town and heads into the Vendaturf Town Gym, upon entering the player finds themselves above a canopy of trees with more trees even further up and ladders connecting the three levels of foliage together. The player progresses through the Gym, climbing the ladders inbetween each level and soon begins encountering logs, which can have their direction changed, allowing the player to progress further along. Soon the player reaches Ramona, who congratulates the player on getting past her set of tricks and trainers and tells the player that she is a master of the Grass Type, and is capable of standing against Fire & Poison Types and warns the player to be prepared for the tricks her Pokemon have. The player faces against Ramona and her Grass-Type Pokemon, who despite their abilities of Status Ailment as well as moves to counter Fire & Poison Types are soon defeated. After being defeated, Ramona smiles and tells the player that she hopes that one day they’ll be able to battle again and recognizes the player’s strength giving them the Scent Badge and the TM for Vine Trap.
The player heads out of the Gym and is greeted again by Wally who apologizes for forgetting to give the player the Dowsing Machine, and asks the player if they have a rival, just before the player can respond Skyler, Brendan & May arrive and greet the player and Wally. Wally, surprised to see Brendan and May, ask how their adventures are going to which Brendan laughs, admitting that he’d become interested in some ruins on Route 111 that popped up, to which May scolds Brendan for his tardiness. Wally laughs, asking the player and Skyler if they regard each other as Rivals, the two both agree and Wally smiles and asks the player and Skyler what the Pokemon they started their journeys with were, Skyler answers for both and Wally asks the player if Skyler is correct. The player agrees, and Wally notes this and grabs two Mega Stones out of his bag, telling the player and Skyler that the Mega Stones are for their starter Pokemon when fully evolved and can make them even more powerful. Wally then bids the player, Skyler, Brendan and May farewell and heads into Rusturf Tunnel. Brendan walks over to the player and asks them if they’d help Brendan investigate the ruins on Route 111, explaining that he’ll meet the player there, then runs off towards Mauville City. May sighs and tells the player that they’ll need the HM for Strength, which she has spare copies of and gives one to the player and Skyler one each. She tells the player and Skyler that she’ll catch up with them later and hopefully have a battle and departs towards Mauville. Skyler then turns to face the player, and tells the player that she was going to battle them again, however since they’re now a Gym Badge ahead of her, she’ll wait until she’s caught up to battle them again and heads into the Gym, wishing the player the best of luck.
The player returns to Mauville City, however upon arriving, the entire City goes into lockdown as Team Astral Grunts storm the city; residents flee into various buildings and lock the entrances, leaving only the player and the grunts in the open areas. The player sees Wattson atop one of the balconies on the upper level and tells the player that he’s put Mauville on lockdown until the Team Astral problem has been dealt with and is currently battling grunts with some of his pupils on the upper levels and suggests the player come and help. The player then progresses through the blockades of locked doors as well as several Team Astral Grunts to reach the stairwell to the second floor. Climbing up the player encounters Delta talking to some Grunts, he turns to face the player and laughs that the player was foolish enough to try to stand against Team Astral, and tells the grunts to go inform the other commanders, the grunts oblige and run off-screen, Delta walks up to the player and asks if the player is ready to be defeated and tells the player that his team is stronger than before and that he won’t lose so easily. The player battles Delta, however despite Delta’s claims the player is still able to overcome the Team Astral Commander. Delta, surprised by the turn of events, retreats to the upper levels furious at himself for being defeated again. The player continues around the second floor and soon finds one of the pupils who have been beaten by a Team Astral Grunt. The player heads over and helps them by defeating the grunt. After the grunt is defeated, a few residents of the second floor rush over to the pupil and thank the player for fighting against Team Astral and take the pupil inside, the player then continues up to the third floor.
Upon arriving on the Third Floor, the player finds Wattson and another pupil battling more Team Astral Grunts, Wattson informs the player that the head of the operation had headed up to the 8th Floor of Mauville City and is likely attempting to siphon energy from the main Lightning Rod. The player continues along the third floor battling more Grunts and continues up to the Fourth Floor, upon arrival the player is greeted by a Nurse Joy who tells the player that she can heal their Pokemon if they need to and tells the player to be strong and keep fighting, the player continues battling more grunts and at the end of the Fourth Floor comes across a pack of 9 Grunts who have a Horde Battle against the player, however are still defeated allowing the player to progress up to the Fifth Floor. After navigating through the darkened Fifth Floor, weaving in and out of buildings, the player runs into Epsilon who acts surprised to see the player again. She asks the player if they can even comprehend the desires of Team Astral, and despite not getting a response, Epsilon battles the player. The player once again triumphs over the Team Astral Commander who tells the player that they were warned the player was coming to stop them and tells the player that Theta has set up traps that will hinder the player’s progress. The player continues upwards onto the Sixth Floor.
Upon arriving on the sixth Floor, the player realises that a multitude of floor panels are differently coloured, upon accidentally standing on one, the player fights against a wild Voltorb, upon defeating it, the player is surprise attacked by a Team Astral Grunt. After the player defeats the Grunt and surpasses the field of traps, Wattson catches up to them, telling the player that they’ve come to help the player stop Team Astral. The player and Wattson continue onwards to the Seventh Floor.
As the player and Wattson progress onto the seventh floor, they run into more grunts, this time in pairs, eventually they reach then end of the seventh floor and are halted by Theta and Gamma, who commend the player and Wattson for getting past so many Grunts and even Delta and Epsilon, however the two Commanders assure the player and Wattson that they will not progress beyond the seventh floor as the two commanders will personally have their revenge on the player. The player and Wattson start their battle against Theta and Gamma who prove to be capable in using their Pokemon together, however despite this they are soon defeated by the player and Wattson. Gamma, unable to accept defeat again attempts to barricade the player and Wattson from the stairwell to the eighth floor, however Wattson simply grabs Gamma and pulls her away allowing the player to continue onward, Gamma yelling at Theta to stop the player, however Theta just stands in place in a state of complete shock. The player climbs the to the final floor of Mauville City and sees a cloaked individual standing in front of a massive control panel with numerous buttons and signals. The individual turns to face the player, congratulating them on being able to hold their own against all of Team Astral’s Commanders and countless Grunts, the individual expressed their disappointment in the efforts of the Team Astral Grunts, stating that Team Magma and Team Aqua grunts had much more passion. Wattson soon arrives and demands to know who the individual was and what Team Astral’s grand plan was, the individual pauses and formally introduces himself as Omega the leader of Team Astral. He explains that Team Astral is going to take command of the world by distorting the land, sea and sky so terribly that all who oppose them will cower in fear, he continues stating that they need the power from Mauville City to be able to control the Super Ancient Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza, to which Wattson questions why they would bother trying to control Rayquaza when they could just catch it, to which Omega states that unlike Groudon and Kyogre, Rayquaza is an equalizing Pokemon and always fights for equality and justice, meaning that it can sense the true intentions of any individual that attempts to control it, hence why capturing Rayquaza would only prove to be futile in all attempts. Omega then stops and tells Wattson and the player that they’ve heard enough and will now be crushed by him, Wattson attempts to stop Omega however collapses due to exhaustion, to which Omega laughs stating that Wattson has neglected that in his old age he is not as physically able as he was before and walks up to the player and asks them what they value as the battle begins. The player and Omega battle out on the pinnacle of Mauville City and despite Omega’s powerful Pokemon, he is eventually defeated. In defeat Omega laughs again, stating that regardless of the outcome of the battle, it had allowed Omega’s Machine to siphon enough energy from Mauville City that Team Astral could make their escape, just as Omega finishes his sentence, a giant Helicopter descends over the 8th Floor of Mauville City and picks Omega up. Omega tells the player that the next time they meet, he will not hold back his Pokemon’s true potential.
The player and Wattson head back to the Pokemon Center while the lockdown ends. Upon arriving, Wattson as well as his two pupils thank the player for helping save Mauville City from Team Astral. He apologizes that he doesn’t have another Mega Stone he can give the player although instead hands them a pair of Go-Goggles that he explains can help the player traverse the deserts of Route 111. The player heads north towards Route 111, along the way encountering the Winstrate Household, talking to the young boy out the front, who introduces himself as Vincent Winstrate who offers the player to battle his family, the player accepts and engages Vincent in battle, after defeating Vincent, he tells the player that each Winstrate Family member will battle the player and heads inside. The player then battles Vivi, Victoria, Victor and finally Vicky, who after being defeated congratulates the player on being able to best 5 trainers in a row and invites the player inside for a reward. The player heads inside and talks to Vicky who tells the player that their Pokemon are very strong, although believes that if her grandson, Vito were with them instead of training on Victory Road, the player would’ve been beaten and gives the player the Macho Brace as a reward.
The player continues heading further North until they reach Route 111, where Brendan meets up with them. He explains that within Route 111 are some ancient ruins and will meet the player when they find them. He then heads off into Route 111 and the player follows along, the player searches through the desert and soon comes upon the ruins Brendan was speaking of, heading inside the player finds Brendan inside who explains that he suspects some Pokemon Fossils may be located deeper down in the Ruins and tells the player that he’ll meet them again when they reach the bottom and heads into the next room. The player follows and navigates the maze of rooms in the dark ruins encountering several Rock and Ground Type Pokemon. Eventually the player reaches the bottom and sees two fossils at the end of a long passage. The player approaches the fossils however is halted by a voice, the player turns around and is quickly ambushed by Team Astral Grunts who thank the player for leading them straight to the Fossils and demands the player surrender. The player refuses and starts to battle through each Grunt, soon defeating all of them, the grunts retreat and vow that they will find better fossils. After the grunts leave, Brendan arrives and asks the player if they were the one who scared off all the Team Astral Grunts, the player confirms this to Brendan and thanks the player telling them that he had gotten lost on the higher levels and apologizes for taking so long, the player and Brendan then walk over to the fossils, however just as they are in front of the Fossils a wild Solrock bursts out from beneath the sand and attacks the player, the player retaliates with their Pokemon and defeat/captures the Solrock, Brendan congratulates the player on being able to stop the wild Pokemon and believes that it was probably guarding the Fossils as well, Brendan and the player walk up to the fossils and Brendan asks the player which one they want, the player walks over to either the Root or Claw Fossil and picks it up, Brendan goes over to the other fossil and does the same. Just as they pick up the fossils the ruins begin to sink into the sand, Brendan tells the player that it’s time for them to leave and the two run out of the ruins. As they exit the ruins they turn around and watch the ruins sink into the sand. Brendan tells the player that he hasn’t felt like how he feels right now in a while. He thanks the player and informs them that if they want to revive the fossil into a Pokemon, they can do so over in Rustboro City and should talk to the scientists in the Devon Corporation Building, Brendan then heads off leaving the player to wander freely.
As the player exits Route 111, they are caught up by Steven who tells the player that he was watching Brendan and the player escape from the Ruins and tells the player that he can see the adrenaline in the player’s eyes and believes that should he ever wish to battle the player, that it’ll be a great battle. He tells the player that to progress towards their next Gym they need to head to Chainpeak City where the fourth Gym Leader awaits them. Steven continues stating that due to recent activities involving Team Astral the road North of Route 112 has been blocked off by Lavaridge’s Leader and explains that she is very unlikely to let the player pass unless they can convince the Leader of Canyove City to give them a special note. Steven then hands the player a Mega Stone, the Golemite telling the player that he hopes it’ll help them on their journeys and heads off towards Mauville City. The player progresses through the south section of Route 112 and soon arrives in Chainpeak City, upon entering the player finds the city is built atop a massive canyon with chainlink bridges connecting each group of buildings together. The player soon finds the leader of Chainpeak City’s house and talking to the leader of Chainpeak City’s wife, the player discovers that the leader had headed off into Chainpeak City’s entrance to Mt. Chimney, and due to recent volcanic activity which she describes might be an indication of Groudon’s awakening. She explains that Groudon is the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon who raised the ground out of the see and carved it with its mighty Ground-Type Powers into its current form, it is stated that Groudon along with its counterpart Kyogre dwell beneath Hoenn as it is their place of conflict especially after the Team Magma & Team Aqua incidents. She continues explaining that in the past, brave trainers had been able to silence the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon with their own Pokemon and in doing this the orbs that gave the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon their massive power were lost. The woman asks the player why they want to speak to her husband, to which the player replies by explaining their need to progress past Lavaridge Town, the woman understands the player’s plight and tells the player that her husband will give the player the special note needed to pass. As the player is about to leave, the woman requests that the player bring a basket of Lava Cookies to her husband as they are his favourite and tells the player to just look for the man with the giant black beard and the bald head.
The player heads out of the house and navigates through the city to the entrance to Mt. Chimney. The player traverses through the maze-like tunnels of the cavern until they soon reach a room within Mt. Chimney where they run into the leader, who introduces himself as Pyrus, the leader of Chainpeak City and notices the player has a basket of Lava Cookies and asks if they’re from his wife, the player tells Pyrus they are and gives the basket to him. Pyrus thanks the player telling the player that he wishes that Mt. Chimney would calm down and asks the player if they can see the issue with Mt. Chimney, having the player examine one of the rock walls, the player notices that there are cracks in the wall, Pyrus congratulates the player on noticing the problem and explains that the room they are in is usually a chamber for one of the vents, however due to recent volcanic activity the passage into the room has become blocked up, he tells the player that they’re going to need to leave the room, the player and Pyrus walk out of the room and Pyrus sends out his Magmortar and Rhyperior, he tells the player that his two Pokemon are able to re-open the chamber but stop it from flooding into the rest of the tunnels and asks the player to watch. Pyrus then commands his Magmortar to use Flare Cannon on the cracked wall and as soon as the shot hits the wall he commands his Rhyperior to use Strength on a nearby boulder to block the entrance, the Rhyperior pushes the boulder into place and the player and Pyrus listen as the lava begins to flow into the chamber. Pyrus returns his Pokemon back to their Pokeballs and thanks the player for watching and tells them that he doesn’t mind when the chambers get blocked but he suspects that the chamber had been tampered with as the blocking appeared to be unnatural.
Just as Pyrus is about to thank the player, several Team Astral Grunts arrive along with their Commander, Epsilon. Epsilon congratulates Pyrus on his efforts to undo the damage Team Astral had caused to which Pyrus furious at the commander tells them how dangerous such a blockage is. Epsilon states that she was going to get Pyrus to submit Chainpeak City to Team Astral as an area of operations by threatening to flood the City in lava, however with her plans foiled, she states that she will have to take her revenge out on the player and Pyrus, stating that she will not lose to the player again and has had it with the player’s disruptions in Team Astral’s affairs. She orders the grunts to battle Pyrus and tells the player that she’s going to deal with them personally. The player and Epsilon begin to battle inside the volcanic tunnel, although like before the player is able to defeat Epsilon and her Pokemon, at the same time Epsilon’s Grunts are beaten by Pyrus who laughs at how pathetic they all are, and they should try to train their Pokemon before battling the leader of Chainpeak City. Epsilon, surprised by the turn of events orders a retreat and tells the player that they cannot even comprehend Team Astral’s desires. Pyrus walks over to the player and thanks the player for helping stop Team Astral and tells the player to that if they want anything from Pyrus to come see him at his home and he heads off. The player also heads back to Chainpeak and goes to see Pyrus who thanks the player again for dealing with Team Astral, Pyrus’ Wife explains that the player needs to pass through the blockade to Lavaridge Town and Pyrus laughs stating that the leader of Lavaridge is his Niece and that she’s a bit cautious due to her lack of confidence. Pyrus hands the player a Special Note, stating that they can use it as many times as they like to pass the blockade to the Gondalas for Lavaridge Town, Pyrus continues by explaining that if the player wants to head further North of Lavaridge they need to go into the Mt. Chimney entrance just West of Lavaridge and that will take them to the North Side of Route 112.
As the player is about to depart from Chainpeak City, Pyrus and his wife run over to the player and thank them again for helping Pyrus in Mt. Chimney and tell the player to stay strong on their journey and watch out for any more activity from Team Astral. The player heads back through Route 112 to the Blockade where several guards are guarding it. The player approaches the Blockade and one of the guards walks up to the player asking for the required authentication to proceed, the player shows them the Special Note and the Guard thanks the player for talking to Pyrus explaining that he’s been much more lenient than Lavaridge’s Leader. The player progresses through onto the outside of Mt. Chimney and sees a giant boulder with Multiple Enscriptions against part of the Volcano, the Player goes to inspects it although is quickly greeted by Steven, who walks over to the player and the Giant Stone, and explains that the stone is used to ward off those seeking to summon Groudon and explains how the Stone was carved soon after the Team Magma Incident, Steven then tells the player that they know their next Gym is in Groveau City and tells the player this means they’ll need to speak to Lavaridge’s Leader, he continues stating that the Leader of Lavaridge is likely going to test the player’s skills and warns the player that she is not an easy opponent. Steven then bids the player farewell and heads off, the player then heads over to the Gondola where the Receptionist asks the player if they’d like to ride the Gondola, the player says yes and heads up Mt. Chimney to the top of Mt. Chimney.
After the player exits the Gondola Center, they notice a couple of Team Astral Grunts talking who then head inside a cave entrance, the player is unable to head down through Jagged Pass due to an interviewer talking to an Elderly Couple. The player decides to follow after the Team Astral Grunts to find out what they’re planning and heads inside the cave, soon after traversing a few Rock Smash & Strength Puzzles the player soon finds a base of operations inside Mt. Chimney and after alerting the base to their presence begins battling through numerous Team Astral Grunts working their way further into the base. The player soon runs into Delta who tells the player that they’re not going to progress any further in the base as he’s gotten stronger since they last met and will utterly destroy the player’s Pokemon. Despite Delta’s claims, the player still overcomes the Team Astral Commander and after being defeated, Delta expresses his frustration at his Pokemon and heads further into the Base telling the player that his boss is going to wipe out the player. The player progresses further forward and soon runs into Theta, who tells the player that he was expecting they’d arrive soon and commends the player for defeating Delta, explaining that Delta had never been a very good Commander, but assures the player that their defeat will be swift. Once again the player is able to overcome Theta beating them for a third time, Theta pauses after the battle and smiles telling the player that he enjoys the battles the two of them have and insists that if the player and he were not on opposite sides they could’ve been rivals. The player continues deeper into the Base fighting off more Team Astral Grunts and soon finding a Science Lab which reveals that Team Astral was looking for ways to revive Groudon. The player continues through and soon encounters Omega, who commends the player for discovering their plans to revive Groudon, he tells the player that they will not be stopping Team Astral as they will do what neither Team Magma or Team Aqua could do and engages the player in battle again.
The player battles Omega again who has added a Trevenant to his Team. Despite this addition to his party, the player is still able to defeat him. Omega infuriated by his loss tells the player that the next time they meet; things won’t be so easy for the player. Omega then tells his commanders to have the grunts clear out the caverns and Team Astral heads out leaving the player within. Steven then walks over to the player and apologizes for not arriving sooner and tells the player that Team Astral was looking for the Red Orb, Steven then directs the player into a room further on then their current one and they discover that the Red Orb has been taken, Steven explains that this means that Team Astral will be able to summon Groudon once they figure out where the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon is. Steven then tells the player that he’s going to see if he can locate Groudon first and stop Team Astral from reaching the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon and tells the player that he hopes they meet again soon. The player then exits the Base and finds the interviewer has finished their report and has opened up the path to the Jagged Pass. The player continues down through the Jagged Pass and soon arrives in Lavaridge Town, upon arrival the player is met by a young woman who asks if the player was sent by Pyrus, the player replies, confirming that Pyrus sent them and the woman introduces herself as Flannery explaining that she is the leader of Lavaridge Town and tells the player that the path further North is currently blocked and is being excavated, she asks the player if they’ve heard of the Burnt Forest, the player not knowing asks what the Burnt Forest is, to which Flannery tells the player that to the South of Lavaridge Town is a Forest filled with many Fire & Ground Type Pokemon and that deep within the Burnt Forest is a special ash from the oldest tree in the forest. She continues explaining that in Lavaridge, due to their proximity to Mt. Chimney they have found that the Ashes from the Tree are able to quell the destructive force of Mt. Chimney and keep it at bay. She continues, stating that since the player will have to wait for the excavation to be completed that they should collect some Ashes from the Burnt Forest and take them back up Jagged Pass and into the Main Crater. The player accepts and Flannery directs the player to the entrance of the Burnt Forest.
The player enters the forest and finds that the forest has small embers that float around the dusty trees. The player begins searching the forest for a while, eventually becoming lost, although soon runs into Skyler who asks the player if they’re also looking for the Ashes of the Oldest Tree, after the player replies Skyler suggests the two should team up as she’s picked up on how to find the Oldest Tree. The two team up and Skyler explains that the direction the embers flow from indicates where the Oldest Tree is, with this knowledge the player and Skyler navigate through the forest and eventually find the Oldest Tree, Skyler collects the ashes into Two Bottles and gives one to the player telling them that she’ll be waiting for the player at the top of Mt. Chimney and heads back North to the entrance of the Forest. The player follows along and begins their ascent back up the Jagged Pass soon returning to the top of Mt. Chimney. Approaching the main Crater the player sees Skyler who notices the player and the two walk over to a small bridge hovering over the crater. Skyler explains that she’s trained her Pokemon more and has learnt about the history of the Volcano explaining that Team Magma had found traces of Groudon’s DNA within the Volcano, suggesting that the Volcano itself could be the resting place of Groudon. She continues stating that there is a town North of Lavaridge Town called Fallarbor Town that has many Scientists there that have researched on Groudon and Kyogre. She continues, explaining that Professor Cozmo, a researcher of Meteorite Shards lives there and has a special Shard that resonates with traces of Groudon’s & Kyogre’s DNA. She tells the player that she knows Team Astral plan to revive Groudon and that just like Team Magma before them, they’re going to go after Professor Cozmo. Skyler then has the player ready their Bottle of Ashes to drop into the Volcano and the two drop the ashes into the volcano, which stops spouting soot out for a moment and then the lava level drops significantly, revealing walkable areas below. Skyler insists the player and her investigate a cave that was revealed by the lava drop and the two head over to the location Skyler pointed out.
The two head inside the cave and find a sketch of Mt. Chimney inside with multiple holes indicating the multiple entrances and one hole which leads to a giant Omega Symbol, Skyler confused by what the Symbol means and asks the player if they have an idea, regardless of the player’s idea (one of which is that it represents Groudon) Skyler doubts it. The player & Skyler exit the cave and head back to safe ground and watch the lava rise again. Skyler then asks the player if they’re going to head to Groveau City to challenge the Gym Leader there, the player replies and Skyler tells the player that she wants to test the player’s skills before then and tells the player that the next time they meet they will have a battle. Skyler heads back down Jagged Pass, leaving the player to return to see if the excavation is complete. Upon returning to Lavaridge Town, the player is greeted by Flannery who thanks the player for calming Mt. Chimney with the Ashes. Flannery continues stating that while the player was retrieving the ashes, the workers of Lavaridge Town were able to burrow through, likely due to the pressure on the rocks going down thanks to the player. Flannery tells the player that she was informed by Steven that the player had dealt with a base of Team Astral’s in Mt. Chimney and thanks the player for clearing it out, stating that she knew Team Astral were close to Lavaridge but couldn’t find any indications to their locations, she continues by telling the player that she’ll have the guards on Route 112 clear out and head back to Lavaridge Town and thanks the player by giving them 12 Lava Cookies and tells the player that if they want to get a free Fire-Type Pokemon, they should consider challenging the Burning Dojo in Lavaridge. Flannery then heads off and the player continues into the newly re-opened entrance to Mt. Chimney.
The player heads through the snaking tunnels of the Western Tunnels of Mt. Chimney and soon arrives on the North edge of Route 111 & Route 112 and heads further North into Route 113 towards Fallarbor Town. The player continues up into Route 113 where they run into Pamus again who asks the player how their training is going, they notice the player has obtained 3 Badges and figures the player is going to Groveau City and suggests they gather some Fire & Flying Type Pokemon for the next Gym and offers the player the TM for Incinerate, explaining that the Gym Leader’s Pokemon are often equipped with Berries that help them in battle against Status Ailments and explains that the move is able to destroy the berries as well as deal damage. Pamus then tells the player that he will make sure to give the player a TM for each time they meet to help them on their journey. Pamus then heads towards Route 112 leaving the player to continue navigating the soot fields of Route 113. Along the way the player runs into the Glass Blower who gives the player the Soot Sack and tells the player that if they collect enough Soot then he’ll be able to make Glass Objects for the player. The player continues onwards and soon arrives in Fallarbor Town where they are greeted by May who tells the player that they should go talk to Professor Cozmo before heading into the Pokemon Center. The player goes to see Professor Cozmo as attempting to leave Westward just results in May asking the player if they’ve visited Professor Cozmo yet. The player enters Professor Cozmo’s house and is greeted by the rather hyperactive Professor, however he quickly calms down and formally introduces himself explaining that he researches Spacial Anomalies and Space Debris that crashes on the planet. He explains that his most prized possession is his Meteorite Shard that had crashed onto the planet soon after the Groudon & Kyogre incidents and tells the player how the Shard seems to be connected to the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon and it is stated to resonate in close proximity to the traces of Groudon’s DNA on Mt. Chimney and Kyogre’s DNA at Sootopolis City. Just as Professor Cozmo finishes his speech on the Shard, a couple of Team Astral Grunts burst in and demand the Professor hand over the Shard, Cozmo refuses to comply and asks the player if they’d help stop the grunts from taking the shard. The player accepts and teams up with Professor Cozmo to take on the pair of grunts.
The player and Professor Cozmo soon defeat the Grunts who begin bickering with each other after their defeat, blaming each other for their defeat. Just as they start flat out yelling at each other, a voice silences them and reveals to be Gamma, who apologizes for her Grunt’s incompetence and states that Team Astral is looking for a new Commander to help Team Astral and suggests the player just give up and join Team Astral. The player denies Gamma’s offer to which the Lieutenant Commander smirks, telling the player that they will regret crossing her again. Gamma calls in another Grunt and the two battle the Professor and the player. The player and Professor Cozmo once again are able to defeat the Team Astral members to which Gamma is repulsed by the efforts of her Grunts and warns the player that any further acts against Team Astral will result in them personally hunting the player down. Gamma leaves with her Grunts, allowing Professor Cozmo to approach the player and heal the player’s Pokemon, asking the player to hold onto the shard as he fears that it will only cause destruction for Fallarbor Town if it stays with him, the player accepts and Professor Cozmo explains that if the player is planning on progressing to Groveau City they’ll need to navigate through Meteor Falls and find the secret exit in the Mountainous Craters. The player exits the house and is greeted by Brendan and May who tell the player that they’ll be waiting for the player in Meteor Falls and are going to test the player’s strength when they arrive. Brendan and May then head off leaving the player to continue, as the player is about to head out of Fallarbor, a young boy runs out of one of the nearby houses and asks the player to help their older brother who is being attacked by some bad guys. The player heads inside and finds two Team Astral Grunts intimidating the older brother who asks the player to help him, the younger brother turns to the player and asks them if they want the younger brother’s help, the player accepts and the two attack the Team Astral Grunts.
The player and Ricky are able to defeat the Team Astral Grunts who are surprised by the power the player and Ricky possess, they flee from the house in defeat. The player and Ricky walk over to the older brother who thanks them both for stopping Team Astral, Ricky then introduces himself and his older brother to the player as Ricky & Dyke. Dyke explains that he is an Archaeologist and has been digging beneath Fallarbor into Route 111 for years and has found numerous fossils and believes that Team Astral was likely after the fossils as they are of powerful Pokemon. Dyke continues, telling the player that they are free to use the tunnels he’s dug for training against Ground and Rock type Pokemon and tells the player that he had unearthed two Mega Stones not too long ago that may help the player, he gives the player an Arbokite & Sandslashite explaining that he has multiples of both Mega Stones, but has never needed to use them since neither Dyke or Ricky have Key Stones. Ricky and Dyke then thank the player again before the player leaves. The player continues heading West towards Meteor Falls running into various Hikers, Kindlers & Campers along the way. Upon the player entering they see a massive Waterfall crashing down into a river that leads to a lake at the bottom with smaller Waterfalls along the way. As the player walks across the bridge next to the large Waterfall, they are stopped by Skyler who tells the player that it’s time for their next battle, however just before Skyler can challenge the player to battle, Brendan and May arrive telling Skyler that they knew both trainers would be coming to Meteor Falls and issue them a Double Battle challenge, having the player and Skyler team up against Brendan and May. Skyler accepts telling the player they can battle later, the player accepts as well and the battle ensues.
Temporary Teammate - Skyler/Dane -
After the player & Skyler are able to defeat Brendan & May, the two older trainers congratulate the player and Skyler, commending them for training their Pokemon so much since their first battle. Brendan and May approach the duo and give the player a Mega Stone for their Starter and Skyler a Mega Stone for her Starter. They explain that when fully evolved the Mega Stones will make their Pokemon even more powerful and it was with power similar to that held within the Mega Stone that caused Groudon and Kyogre to go on such rampages years ago. They explain that a Pokemon’s Mega Evolution can only be held for a certain amount of time and only when it’s determined to battle for its trainer; however Groudon & Kyogre had no trainers and instead possessed a force much more powerful, through the Red and Blue Orbs respectively. With the orbs, it allowed Groudon and Kyogre to unlock power they hadn’t used for a very long time, and with it their destructive capabilities increased exponentially. Brendan & May finish stating that as long a Groudon & Kyogre don’t come in contact with the orbs again the world can remain safe. Brendan and May then bid the player and Skyler good luck before heading off. Skyler then turns to the player and tells them that they next time they meet, they are going to have another Battle and that she won’t let the player beat her again, before heading off herself.
The player navigates through the cavernous maze, eventually being able to get on the East side of the Lake and exiting out of a nearby Exit. The player finds themselves on Route 135, a Mountainous but also relatively tree covered Route, the player heads up the Route towards Groveau City. As the player progresses up the route they are greeted Trent who is surprised to see the player out so far, Trent explains that up on Route 135 his family have another Berry Farm that specializes in creating Mulch from Leaf Litter. He tells the player to meet him at the house further up the Route, the player heads up to the house and enters inside, greeted again by Trent but also by a pair of sisters who introduce themselves as Trent’s Cousins, Ariana & Mona who help make the Mulch, Ariana approaches the player and gives them the Leaf Sack, explaining that due to the amount of foliage that falls form some Routes, the player’s Leaf Sack will naturally fill up over time, and the player should bring back the Leaf Sack to exchange its contents for Mulch that can be used at the Berry Farm. Mona then explains that they’ll be researching how to make more effective Mulches and that the player should visit often to see if they have a new Mulch Formula. Just as the player is about to head out, they are suddenly ambushed as the power to the house is cut, when it lights up the player, Trent, Ariana & Mona find themselves completely surrounded by Team Astral Grunts, the commander of the Grunts walks in, revealing to be Epsilon again, explaining that she’s amassed more grunts and is going to hold Trent, Arian & Mona as ransom for the unconditional surrender of the Berry Farm & Mulch Facility. Trent refutes the claim, asking the player to team up with him again to defeat Team Astral, Ariana and Mona assure the player they can handle the other grunts and let the player at a pair of Grunts.
After the player and Trent defeat the first pair of grunts, another pair prepares to battle them; Trent quickly heals the player’s Pokemon before they engage the next set of grunts. The player and Trent get through an additional 3 pairs of grunts before reaching Epsilon and the last Grunt, Ariana and Mona still battling the various other grunts. Epsilon tells the player and Trent that the player may remember that Team Astral was looking for a new Commander and the Grunt quickly changes his appearance to look different from the other grunts and formally introduces himself as Zeta and is interested in seeing just how strong the player’s Pokemon really are. The player and Trent engage the two commanders in battle however despite the teamwork between the Commanders Pokemon, the player and Trent are able to overcome the duo and defeat them. While Epsilon is shocked that the player and Trent were able to overcome the two commanders despite their preparation for the event, Zeta merely commends the player and Trent telling them that he will make sure to keep his battles with the pair interesting for any future confrontations. Zeta then tells Epsilon that it’s time for them to depart and the Grunts and Commanders leave. After Team Astral has left, Ariana and Mona walk up to the player and Trent and tell them how awesome the player’s and Trent’s Pokemon were and hope that they’re Pokemon will end up being strong like the player’s and Trent’s. Trent turns and thanks the player, stating that he owes the player twice over and then quickly remarks the player’s Key Stone, stating that he knows just the gift for the player. Trent quickly disappears into another room, soon returning giving the player a Shiftrite, explaining that his family has been able to find quite a lot of Shiftrite’s due to their involvement with the Pokemon Shiftry and have far too many than needed. As the player heads out and back onto Route 135; Trent, Arian & Mona run out of the house to bid the player farewell. The player then continues scaling up Rotue 135 until they finally arrive in Groveau City, finding it to be a surprisingly developed city despite its isolation.
As the player enters the city they are greeted by Steven who tells the player that the Devon Corp has a branch out in Groveau City that has been making Hidden Machines and researching their potential, Steven explains that the Devon Corporation a few years ago became interested in the status of Silph Co. and invested a research agreement between the two companies, the result became that the Devon Corporation has been able to reverse engineer HMs to find how the coding for them is structured and transfer this into making moves previously only Pokemon could use into TMs for many Pokemon to use. Steven tells the player that he’ll meet the player outside the gym after their Gym Battle and give them a small tour. Steven heads off; allowing the player to explore Groveau City, after preparing for the gym the player walks up to the front entrance, however is stopped by Skyler who tells the player that she’s ready for their rematch and isn’t going to let the player get a step ahead of her. The player and Skyler battle out the front of the Gym, however the player once again triumphs over Skyler. Skyler then questions why her Pokemon aren’t able to beat the player’s, just then an elderly man walks out of the Gym and introduces himself to the player and Skyler, he tells the two that he was watching them battle and asks the player and Skyler if they both came to challenge the Gym of Groveau City. The player and Skyler reply agreeing with the elderly man, who reveals that he is the Gym Leader, he tells Skyler that while her Pokemon may not have been able to best the player’s Pokemon that she may do better against the Gym and tells the player that just because they were able to defeat Skyler, the Gym may prove more of a challenge than the player may anticipate. Vermont then tells both the player and Skyler that he’ll be waiting inside the Gym for their arrival and then heads inside. Skyler thanks the player for the battle and tells the player that she’s going to get ahead of the player and the next time they battle she’ll be prepared.
The player heads inside the Gym and finds a massive set of wooden structures shaped to look like insects, talking to the Gym Guide, he reveals that the player will have to navigate around the Gym to activate buttons that move various parts around and warns the player that one wrong button could mean they have to start over again. The player then navigates thoroughly through the Gym, getting past the Ant Puzzle, Bee Puzzle, Mantis Puzzle, Moth Puzzle and Beetle Puzzle before reaching Vermont. Vermont congratulates the player on reaching the top of the Gym and navigating through his tricky puzzles; he tells the player that he personally helped build the gym so that way he could get his preferred design. He then tells the player that the Bug Pokemon are tricky, being agile and able to often hit Pokemon that are usually pretty resistant to damage. The player and Vermont then start their battle; the player goes up against Vermont’s diverse Pokemon, each specializing in a variety of tactics. Eventually the player is able to overcome the elderly Gym Leader, who after the battle congratulates the player on their victory, explaining that he expected quite a bit of resistance from the player but didn’t expect to be overwhelmed with such sheer force. Vermont gives the player the Web Badge and the TM for Parasitical Crush and tells the player that they’re next Gym should be the Petalburg City Gym. The player heads out of the Groveau City Gym and is greeted by Steven who congratulates the player on defeating their fourth Gym Leader, telling the player that they’ve only got four more to defeat and then they can challenge the Elite Four. Steven informs the player that the Devon Corp Branch in Groveau City is much smaller than the main building in Rustboro but still has a sizeable research facility. The player follows Steven into the Devon Corp Research Lab to find many Scientists within, Steven takes the player around showing them a variety of fossils and uncut Mega Stones, explaining that each Mega Stone is found buried underground and is surprisingly strong, requiring Laser Technology to cut it to shape. Steven takes the player to the lower level where Steven shows the player a massive computer that holds the information for all TMs and HMs along with numerous Moves not yet recreated into TMs. Steven then presses several buttons and a disc ejects out of a small slot on the machine and Steven goes and grabs it, bringing it back to the player he gives the player the HM telling the player it’s the HM for Surf a move that allows the player to navigate the Oceans, however they’ll need 5 Gym Badges for their Pokemon to be able to use the move outside of battle. Steven tells the player that they should go to Dustanue Town, North-East of Mauville City and find the Flight Instructor as he can give the player another HM that will allow the player to soar through the skies with ease. Steven explains that there are 8 HMs currently in use and each one only works outside of battle with the correct identification stating that the player needs; 1 Badge for Rock Smash, 2 Badges for Cut, 3 Badges for Strength, 4 Badges for Flash Blank, 5 Badges for Surf, 6 Badges for Fly, 7 Badges for Dive and 8 Badges for Waterfall and tells the player that Waterfalls are often a symbol of the Pokemon League’s Trials and states that nearly all Pokemon Leagues require the HM for Waterfall to be accessed.
Just as Steven finishes explaining the HMs, an alarm goes off and a loud speaker alerts the player and Steven that Team Astral Grunts have invaded the Research Center and are holding the Scientists hostage, just then eight Team Astral Grunts. Steven tells the player to take their pick at which grunt to handle and Steven goes after a different one, one by one the player and Steven knock out all 8 Grunts. Steven tells the player that he’ll go on ahead and tells the player to rescue the Scientists explaining that there were five in the building when they entered. The player then goes around the main floor, searching rooms and battling Team Astral Grunts, gradually freeing each Scientist from their kidnappers, eventually the player reaches the last two Scientists who are both being held in the Meeting Room, as the player enters they are greeted by Delta who congratulates the player on making it through so many of the Team Astral Grunts, yet again. He tells the player that his team is stronger than before and that the player will regret having ever met him, the player and Delta then battle and despite his stronger team, Delta is once again defeated. Delta ashamed of his defeat tells the player that it doesn’t matter how many times the player thinks they’ve won, Team Astral always wins overall, then Delta flees. The player frees the last two Scientists who tell the player they heard Steven talking to another Team Astral Commander nearby. The player goes to investigate and finds Theta and Gamma talking to Steven, the two commanders tell Steven that he cannot hope to defeat them even if he is who he says he is. The player intervenes and both commanders are shocked to see the player telling the player that they are a consistent nuisance to Team Astral’s Plans and will never give up on their grand scheme. Steven then tells the player to ready themselves as the player and Steven pair up against the Admins.
The player and Steven soon overcome the Admins, who after being defeated are notified by a grunt that they’ve retrieved the uncut Mega Stones. The commanders then bid the player and Steven farewell and flee, Steven tells the player to give chase and the player and Steven run outside to find Vermont and numerous Gym Trainers surrounding the Team Astral Grunts and Commanders, Vermont orders Team Astral to return the Mega Stone Shards to which Team Astral begrudgingly obliges. Vermont then tells the Commanders that they will be taken for investigation, however just as Vermont finishes his sentence, the grunts throw Smoke Bombs everywhere and make their escape. After the smoke clears, Vermont walks up to the player and apologizes to the player and Steven that Team Astral escaped, however tells Steven that the Mega Stone Shards are safe and returns them to the Scientists inside. Steven then tells the player that Team Astral is very quickly making themselves known to Hoenn and is definitely planning to do something with Groudon, Steven then notices the player’s Meteorite Shard and tells the player that they recognize the shard as being Professor Cozmo’s and tells the player that they must not let the shard fall into Team Astral’s hands otherwise they will surely find the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon. Steven then bids the player farewell before heading off. The player then heads out of Groveau City and back down Route 135. Along the way down the player is stopped by Ariana & Mona who tell the player that they wanted to battle the player after the player got their fourth Gym badge, just before the player responds, Pamus arrives and greets the player stating that he overheard Arian and Mona issuing the player a challenge to battle and offers to team up with the player. The player accepts and the four trainers engage in battle.
After the player and Pamus defeat the twins, Pamus congratulates the player on the battle and commends Ariana and Mona on their battling tactics. Pamus then tells the player that he’s going to be doing some investigations in Meteor Cave and would like the player to come help him. The player accepts and the Twins approach Pamus & the player, they tell the two trainers that they were very impressed by their battling tactics and wanted to give them some special Mega Stones for their victory, Ariana gives Pamus Dusknite and Mona gives the player Tropiusite, stating that she’s heard Tropius are found in the Jungles around Fortree City. The twins then head back into their house leaving the player with Pamus. Pamus then tells the player that he’ll meet the player in Meteor Falls and heads off down Route 135; the player follows and soon catches up with Pamus in Meteor Falls. Pamus explains that he’s heard of an ancient cave drawing located deep within the caverns of Meteor Falls and tells the player that he’ll tag along with them so they can find it more easily, he also tells the player they can’t leave the cave until they find the cave drawing.
The player and Pamus navigate through the various caves of Meteor Falls and soon reach a large boulder blocking an entrance deeper into the cave, Pamus tells the player to stand back as he punches through the boulder shattering it into shards. The player and Pamus progress through and find themselves in an old, abandoned camp filled with many Draconic Symbols. Pamus and the player stop partway through the camp and Pamus explains that the Camp was originally part of a group called the Draconid People and continues, stating that they were guardians of Hoenn and had a powerful and close relationship with Dragon-Type Pokemon. Pamus continues, explaining that they also were known to worship the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza, which Pamus tells the player is able to subdue both Groudon and Kyogre if the two ever have a conflict. The player and Pamus continue deeper into the cave until they soon reach the wall Pamus spoke of. Upon the wall is a colossal drawing of Hoenn with three symbols located throughout, the Omega Symbol, the Alpha Symbol and the Delta Symbol. Pamus notices something about the Symbols and has the player take a closer look; the player quickly finds out that the symbols were added recently and finds the original placement of the symbols. Pamus points out that the Symbols likely indicate the location of the Orbs, explaining that the Orbs allow humans to control the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon with Omega being Groudon’s symbol, Alpha being Kyogre’s Symbol and Delta being Rayquaza’s Symbol. Just as the player and Pamus are about to head out, multiple Team Astral grunts turn up and ambush the player and Pamus. Pamus tells the player to stand back again as Pamus, charges at and grabs multiple grunts before charging out of the room, the remaining grunts in utter shock suddenly regain their senses and gang up on the player. After the player deals with the 10 Grunt Ambush, he heads out of the room to find Pamus about to battle the grunts that aren’t knocked out, just then the grunts the player defeated run out of the room and yell at the other grunts telling them that they’ve got what they came for and then throw multiple smoke bombs before fleeing. After the smoke settles Pamus heads over to the player to check that they’re all right, he apologizes for his instincts getting the better of him. Pamus tells the player he’ll explain everything once they get back to the camp. The player and Pamus head back to the Draconid Camp and Pamus tells the player that he is a Draconid himself, several years ago after an incident involving an Asteroid that threatened to destroy the planet was stopped by Brendan & May, the Draconid People came out of their reclusive seclusion in Meteor Falls and spread out across Hoenn. Pamus explains that nowadays most people can’t tell a Draconid Person apart from any other person, although the Draconid People have secret signals they can use to notify each other. Pamus tells the player that he wants to reunite the Draconid People in some way as he feels their history to Hoenn is becoming lost with every passing day. Pamus then thanks the player for helping out with Team Astral back in the depths of the cave and then heads off wishing the player luck for the rest of their journey.
The player then heads out through the South Opening of Meteor Falls and finds themselves on Route 115, the player runs into Birch on the Route who asks the player how their adventure is going, after seeing that the player has 4 badges, he asks the player if they’re going to the Petalburg Gym to challenge the next Gym Leader, after the player responds, Birch tells the player to be prepared as the trainers of the Petalburg Gym are trained to specialize in specific tactics. The player continues heading south until they reach Rustboro where they are halted by a couple of Businessmen who tell the player that Mr. Stone wants to see the player. The player heads into Devon Corp and up to Mr. Stone’s office, who greets the player telling the player that he’d heard all about the player’s courageous act in saving the Devon Corp Research Center in Groveau City. He tells the player that Steven is a powerful trainer and often doesn’t pair up with other trainers unless he believes they’re strong as well. Mr. Stone then explains that he wanted to officially thank the player for saving the Research Center and being able to help regain the Mega Stones, as a thank you present Mr. Stone presents the player with a Dawn Stone explaining that some Pokemon can use the Dawn Stone to evolve into more powerful forms although unlike other Evolutionary Stones, the Dawn Stone is Gender Specific. The player then heads out of Mr. Stone’s office and back out into Rustboro and continues down through Petalburg Woods and Route 104 until they reach Petalburg City. Upon the player’s arrival they are greeted by Brendan and May who ask the player if they’re going to battle the Petalburg Gym, the player replies and Brendan and May tell the player to be very careful of the Gym Leader’s Pokemon as not only can they take a hit but they can deal out powerful blows as well. Brendan and May then depart leaving the player to head inside the Gym; the player enters the gym and finds a massive Cube held in the air by multiple large pistons. The player walks over to the Gym Guide who welcomes the player to the Petalburg Gym explaining that the Gym Leader is related to Brendan (May if the player is Female) and specializes in Normal Types. The Gym Guide then goes on explaining that the Gym’s Puzzle is for the player to re-arrange the eight rooms on each level of the cube getting to the Top Floor and then working their way back down to reach the Gym Leader, the Gym Guide warns the player telling them that if they get stuck they may have to face all 24 Gym Trainers before getting out of the Gym. The player walks up to the nearby panel and manipulates the pieces through the panels until they figure out how to get to the second floor, the player then repeats this to get to the top and then back down again to reach the Gym Leader.
The player soon reaches the final section of the Gym and finds themselves inside a small room with three walls, with the back wall facing out into the Petalburg Woods. The individual standing at the edge of the open wall turns around and introduces himself as Norman the Petalburg Gym Leader. Normal explains that he’d heard a lot about the player from Brendan and is very curious about the skills the player possesses. He explains to the player that after his son/daughter had defeated him 8 years ago he thought a lot about what it means to be a trainer and what Potential and Capabilities his Pokemon had. He continues stating that with the constant findings of uncut Mega Stones, he happened upon a Mega Stone that reacted with his partner Pokemon, he explains that Mega Evolution helped him form a deeper connection with his Pokemon and that through such an experience he believes that it is the proof that someone has unlocked their true potential. Norman notes the player’s Key Stone and tells the player that they must have also unlocked their potential and that it will allow him to fight without holding back and warns the player to be ready. The player and Norman then engage their battle with Norman’s Bulky and powerful Normal-Type Pokemon being quite capable of holding their own even against Fighting-Type Pokemon. Despite his Slaking’s Mega Evolution and his Team’s general power, the player is able to overcome Norman. After the battle Norman pauses for a moment and Brendan arrives asking if they already missed the battle, after seeing Norman’s stance, Brendan sighs in disappointment stating that he really wanted to see the player’s Pokemon battle at their maximum potential. Norman then silences Brendan telling him that Brendan will be able to witness the player’s Pokemon first-hand at their full potential and congratulates the player explaining that with his defeat the player has earned the Balance Badge and with five badges the player will be able to surf the vast oceans surrounding Hoenn. Norman also gives the player the TM for Weakness Empower, explaining that the move makes a Pokemon resist any Super-Effective Move that it is hit by for up to 5 turns, Norman also gives the player a Slakingite explaining that while he has many Slakingites, he only gives them to Trainers who have also unlocked their true potential and tells the player that the remaining three Gym Leaders the player must face will also possess the ability of Mega Evolution. The player then heads out of the Petalburg Gym via the secret door at Norman’s end of the Gym.
After the player exits the Gym they are greeted by May who asks the player how they went, before the player can respond, Norman and Brendan exit the gym and greet May, Norman tells May that the player battled excellently and clearly is on their way to becoming a true Master. May congratulates the player on their victory, Brendan and May then both receive a message from Birch who notifies them of a wild Feebas seen on Route 119, the two wish the player the best of luck and say their goodbyes to Norman and the player before Flying away. Norman then tells the player that they should consider heading up North of Mauville and heading East past Route 111 as the player’s Pokemon won’t be able to get past the Rapids East of Slateport City. Norman explains that they’re going to need to find the HM for Flash Blank as there is a cave between Route 111 and Route 136, Norman suggests going to the Southern Island Town called Coath Town, and he explains how he recalls an old colleague of his relocated to Coath Town after they stepped down from their League Position. Norman heads back inside the Gym allowing the player to head towards Coath Town. The player navigates their way through the familiar routes and across the Ocean and past Route 137, battling many Ocean Trainers and Beach Trainers along the way. The player soon arrives in Coath Town where upon arrival, the player runs into Aarune who introduces himself to the player, explaining that he is an expert Secret Base Guru, when Aarune sees the player’s confused look he realises the player doesn’t know about Secret Bases and asks the player if they’ve ever seen the odd looking trees or holes in walls or oddly shaped bushes, Aarune explains that all across Hoenn there are locations prime for Secret Bases that are just waiting for someone to take them up and create whatever they want, a home, a gym, a berry farm, a place of meetings. Aarune tells the player that the main base of operations for the Secret Bases is in Fortree City and suggests the player visit one day. Aarune then begins to head off, then stops and quickly runs back to the player and gives them the TM for Secret Power, explaining that the TM is able to create Secret Bases for the player although if the player wants to make a new secret base it will remove the original Base and put all the player’s items in the PC Inventory. Aarune then runs off yelling his goodbyes to the player.
After the player enters Coath Town, the player discovers that many of the residents had relocated from Slateport City to Coath Town to find somewhere more peaceful. The player soon finds out that the colleague Norman spoke of is Wallace and soon finds him out on the East Beach of the Town. The player approaches Wallace who is surprised to see the player; he asks what brought the player to Coath Town to which the player asks about the HM for Flash Blank. Wallace pauses for a moment and then states that he remembers having the HMs and keeps them in a Storage Warehouse on the North Side of the Town. He tells the player to meet him at the Warehouse and he’ll tell the player more. Wallace then heads off and the player follows after him, soon catching up at the Warehouse’s entrance, Wallace explains to the player that he has kept numerous materials for Pokemon Contests in the warehouse and the HMs are often used as part of his performing acts. Just as Wallace is about to open the Warehouse, an explosion is heard from within followed by many individuals inside yelling at each other to grab everything. Wallace then panics, quickly opening the Warehouse Door to find everything had been cleared out with a large hole in the bottom of the ground. Wallace asks the player to help him recover his lost goods, the player accepts and the two descend into the hole. The player and Wallace find themselves in an underground Cavern partially filled with water. Wallace tells the player that he only has one Pokemon on him although he’ll be able to follow the player across the bodies of water. The player and Wallace then progress through the flooded system of cavern pathways and soon find the culprits of the theft. Multiple Team Astral Grunts begin ambushing the player and Wallace in an attempt to drive the two out of the cave; however Wallace and the player consistently beat the grunts and progress deeper into the cavern.
The player and Wallace begin retrieving the various stolen belongings to which Wallace explains that he treasures each belonging as they have all been involved in his journey to becoming a Contest Master. The player and Wallace some come upon the last box, containing the Flash Blank HMs, however the player comes face to face with Zeta & Epsilon who both express their displeasure in seeing the player out in such a remote place, stating that they believed they weren’t going to have to deal with the player this far south. Wallace demands the two commanders return the stolen goods to which Zeta laughs telling Wallace that they plan to use the goods to retrieve the Blue Orb buried deep beneath Coath Town. Wallace then questions how they plan to do that, to which Epsilon tells Wallace that the path down to the Blue Orb is dark and full of dangerous pitfalls and needs the HM to reach it. Wallace then tells the commanders that what they are trying to do is extremely dangerous and by trying to bring Kyogre out of its slumber will result in a catastrophic effect, Wallace then asks the player to help him stop the commanders, the player accepts and the two wage battle against the commanders. The commanders are however quickly defeated by the player and Wallace, to which the commanders in fear of the consequences of not admitting defeat, flee leaving the box of HMs behind. Wallace picks up the box and gives the player a HM for Flash Blank telling the player to search deeper into the cave and to find the Blue Orb as it is no longer safe from Team Astral. The player obliges and continues deeper into the cavern using Flash Blank to access the dark depths of the cavern, soon coming across ancient ruins. The player soon reaches a large circular room with multiple pillars, each one with an Alpha symbol on it, the player notices that their Meteorite Shard is reacting to the Blue Orb and approaches it. The player picks up the Blue Orb and puts it in their backpack. A tremor suddenly occurs and another cave entrance opens up revealing an exit to the cave south of the Town. The player heads out of the cave and back up through the city, being briefly stopped by Wallace who tells the player that he will have to inform Steven about the current situation and tells the player that they’ll meet again soon.
Wallace then heads off allowing the player to continue their journey towards Fortree City. The player navigates their way back to Mauville City and then North into Route 111, they then head East into the Maulight Tunnel, a tunnel that connects Mauville City to Junglight Town, along the way through the tunnel the player encounters numerous trainers who explain how the tunnel was built after a massive growth in the plants East of Mauville making it virtually impossible to get to Fortree City or Lilycove City without going through the tunnel. The player soon arrives in Junglight Town where the player finds the Town is completely surrounded by massive trees and numerous bushes and saplings. The player navigates their way through the town, however just as they reach the North Gate of the Town, they see a woman frantically walking about, the woman walks over to the player and notices the player’s Pokemon asking if they’re a strong trainer, the player responds and the woman asks the player if they’d be able to go out to Route 119 and find her children that went playing earlier that day but hadn’t returned. The player accepts and heads north into Route 119 to find the children. The player navigates through the difficult terrain of Route 119 and soon reaches a large building and a broken Bridge. Checking the sign the player finds out the building was the Weather Institution however had been abandoned due to lack of funding. The player investigates within and finds the place to be in ruins, with multiple underground levels, the player reaches the bottom level and finds the two children the woman spoke of; the player approaches the children who warn the player just as a wild Kecleon attacks the player. After dealing with the Kecleon, the player approaches the children who ask the player if their mother sent the player, the player responds and the children thank the player for finding them, explaining that they’d gone to play in the old Weather Institution but were ambushed by the Kecleon. The Player then brings the children back to their mother in Junglight Town to which the mother expresses her gratitude towards the player for rescuing her children, the two children then thank the player as well as each child gives the player a Mega Stone, a Vileplumite and a Bellossomite. The mother then thanks the player and gives the player the Bridge Key, explaining that a safety bridge was built in case the original bridge next to the Weather Institution broke, all the player needs to do is get to the Weather Institution and climb to the second floor and plug the Bridge Key into the Control Panel. The player is handed the Bridge Key and heads back into Route 119 and back to the Weather Institution.
The player reaches the Weather Institution however finds it has been overrun by Team Astral Grunts, who tell the player that they’re going to convert the Broken Bridge into a Toll Bridge to make people pay Team Astral to cross. The player, then marches into the Weather Institution and is immediately bombarded by a number of Team Astral Grunts who warn the player to leave, despite their warnings the player continues through and begins battling each Grunt that stands in their way. The player soon progresses down to the B1F due to the Stairwell to 2F being locked. The player suddenly runs into a commander, who introduces himself as Phi and explains that he’d heard quite a lot about the player and the impact they’ve had on Team Astral. Phi then battles the player however is soon defeated, expressing his disappointment in his defeat stating that he expected an easier win and will next time not be so cocky. The player continues searching for the key to the 2F and runs into another commander, who introduces herself as Beta explaining that she is a Lieutenant Commander like Gamma and will not be defeated by some child, despite this claim however after the two battle, the player is once again the victor. Beta then vents her anger at her defeat telling the player that they’re boss is going to crush the player. Beta then gives the player the key to the 2F expressing her contempt in being able to see the player be defeated by the Boss. The player progresses up to the second floor and before the player can reach the boss, the player is stopped by yet another Lieutenant Commander who introduces himself as Lambda, explaining that Team Astral is going to take every effort to become the dominant force over Hoenn and with the power of the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon they will rule the world. Lambda and the player then battle, however just like with Phi & Beta, the player is able to defeat Lambda, who warns the player that they will regret messing with Team Astral’s grand plans. The player continues forward through the ruins and soon encounters the boss, however to the player’s surprise it isn’t Omega, instead a woman greets the player, introducing herself as Alpha telling the player than she and Omega are the Bosses of Team Astral and while Omega has his eyes set on finding Groudon, Alpha has her eyes set on finding Kyogre and tells the player that she will be taking the Blue Orb off the player. The player and Alpha battle for the Blue Orb and the player ends up coming out as the victor. Alpha expresses her disappointment in her colleagues stating that she should’ve easily been able to acquire the Blue Orb and warns the player that they will find a way to bring Kyogre out of its slumber. The Team Astral Grunts then retreat allowing the player to activate the Control Panel and the Safety Bridge to cross over. The player then soon arrives in Fortree City.
Upon the player’s arrival they are greeted by Aarune who is very pleased the player could make it to Fortree, expressing his delight in the player’s possibilities with Secret Bases. Aarune directs the player to the Base of Operations for Secret Bases and brings the player inside. Aarune guides the player through each member of the Base and explains how they are here to sell the player new decorations and assist in finding items and trainers for the player’s base. Aarune then gives the player four items for the player’s Secret Base; a Sceptile Statue, a Blaziken Statue, a Swampert Statue and a Certificate of Recognition. Aarune explains that once the player hangs that Certificate on their Secret Base, trainers may call the player asking to join the base. Aarune then wishes the player good luck in their Secret Base endeavours. The player then heads out and towards the East Exit of Fortree City however finds it to be blocked by an invisibly object, just then a young woman climbs down from the nearby ladder and introduces herself as Winona, she explains that there are Kecleon that have blocked paths throughout Fortree City and that a Devon Scope is needed to be able to see them. Winona tells the player that she was informed by Steven that the player would be arriving and tells the player that she needs the player’s help in retrieving the Devon Scope from the Weather Institute. The player accepts and Winona tells the player that she’ll meet the player there. Winona heads off allowing the player to head over to the Weather Institute.
The player soon arrives and is greeted by Winona who explains that the Devon Scope was recently stolen by a thief who was last spotted hiding in the Weather Institute. The player and Winona split up and the player begins searching the lower levels while Winona searches the upper two, the player soon finds the Devon Scope lying on the ground. As the player goes to pick up the Devon Scope they hear yelling coming from upstairs and rushes up to find the cause, the player finds Winona trapped by a couple of Team Astral Grunts and their Commander, Delta. Delta notices the player and expresses his frustration in seeing the player again, Delta then tells the player to back off as Winona cost Team Astral the Weather Institute. Delta then receives a message and quickly pauses for a moment, he then turns to the player and yells at the player telling the player that he just found out that the player was the cause for Team Astral’s loss of the Weather Institute and he’s going to have double the fun utterly destroying the player’s team. Winona tells the player to take care of the Commander while she handles the grunts. The player and Delta start their battle and although Delta’s Pokemon have gotten stronger, the player is still able to overcome the commander. Disgusted by his defeat, Delta orders a retreat warning the player that they will have their revenge; Winona walks over to the player and thanks them for stopping the attack on her. She expresses her concern for the safety of Fortree City and asks the player meet her in Fortree City as soon as possible. Winona then leaves allowing the player to head back to Fortree City as well, upon arrival in Fortree City, the player finds the city is completely overrun with Team Astral Grunts, the player quickly sees Winona battling several grunts, she tells the player to go through each house and make sure that everyone is safe. The player quickly runs into each of the houses in Fortree City fighting the Team Astral Grunts inside the houses to ensure the people’s safety. Along the way the player runs into Zeta who tells the player that he’s been waiting for a rematch after he was denied getting the Blue Orb & Phi who commends the player on their will to stop Team Astral without even comprehending the potential power that Team Astral already possesses. The player defeats both Commanders and soon works their way to Aarune’s Base and enters to find Aarune and his colleagues up against the Lieutenant Commanders, Beta & Lambda. Aarune quickly asks for the player’s assistance in dealing with the commanders which the player agrees to and the Secret Base Master and the player pair up against, Beta and Lambda who laugh stating that the player and Aarune don’t stand a chance.
The player and Aarune, despite Beta and Lambda’s powerful Pokemon are able to defeat the two Commanders. Aarune thanks the player for saving him and Beta expresses her disgust in defeat at the player again, however Lambda tells her that they will retreat to warn the Boss. The player chases after the two and finds that they are unable to enter the Central House of Fortree City; the player uses the Devon Scope to reveal a Kecleon blocking the road. The Kecleon attacks the player out of surprise, however the player quickly deals with the wild Pokemon and heads into the House. Inside the player finds a large building with multiple levels, the player navigates up each level having to solve the Wind Puzzles by pushing the Giant Fans around to reach the ladders up the floors, along the way encountering numerous more Team Astral Grunts. The player soon reaches the top and finds Alpha threatening Winona to surrender Fortree City; Winona notices the player and tells the player she was unable to stop Alpha. Alpha then turns around and tells the player that by messing with her the player will suffer for their mistakes, Alpha then battles the player more determined than before, however just as the player had defeated her in the Weather Institute, the player again defeats her in Fortree City. Alpha shocked by being beaten twice in such a short time, orders a full scale retreat and tells the player that they will get the Blue Orb and they will bring about a new age. After the Team Astral Grunts retreat, Winona thanks the player telling them to keep the Devon Scope as all the Team Astral Grunts had scared off most of the Kecleons. Winona then gives the player the TM for Vibrant Wave explaining that the move has the chance to lower an enemy Pokemon’s Defence and Special Defence. Winona then bids the player farewell before pulling a lever that causes a massive Ladder to come crashing down allowing the player easy access to each floor of the building. The player then heads out to the East of Fortree, fighting off another Kecleon that refused to move and off into Route 120.
The player navigates their way South of Fortree City and soon arrives in Canocony Town, the player finds the town to have a huge Mine located in the North of Town, the player attempts to head East out of the Town however is stopped by a person who says that they’re investigating the ground for nuggets that could be buried nearby, the Nugget Digger states that if the player can find a Red Nugget in the Mines he won’t have to worry about searching for Nuggets where he is and will gladly let the player pass. The player accepts the request and heads into the Mine finding numerous Rock-Type Pokemon. The player descends deep into the Mine running into Miners and Hikers along the way. Soon the reaches the bottom of the Mine finding a small opening at the end of a long winding corridor, the player reaches the end of the corridor to find a Red Nugget like the Nugget Digger asked, after picking it up however, the player is ambushed by Team Astral Grunts who tell the player that they’ll be taking the Red Nugget as they are taking over the mine. The player refuses to hand over the Red Nugget and battles the Team Astral Grunts defeating all of them. The player then starts navigating their way back out of the mine, fighting more Team Astral Grunts until they get near the entrance where the player sees Theta & Gamma who state that they’d been waiting for the player to arrive, telling the player that they are ashamed that their Grunts were unable to even delay the player. Theta then tells Gamma to let him handle the player and Theta attacks the player, the player quickly overcomes Theta’s Poison-Type Pokemon much to Theta’s shock. The Team Astral Commander shocked by the outcome tells the player that their interference with Team Astral is becoming a serious problem and they should stop, Gamma then tells Theta to be quiet and asks the player if their ready to have their Pokemon faint. The player and Gamma then battle and despite the player’s Pokemon being given no time to recover, the player is still able to beat the Lieutenant Commander, Gamma surprised by this outcome states that she’s fed up with the player constantly intruding on Team Astral affairs and walks up to the player and knocks the player out stealing the Blue Orb in the process. Gamma and Theta run off before the player can retrieve the orb; the player is quickly woken up by Steven who asks if the player is ok, he explains that he saw Team Astral Grunts running from the mine and figured the player was likely inside. He apologizes for not being able to arrive sooner and asks the player if the Blue Orb is still with them, the player explains the situation to Steven who tells the player not to worry as he’ll personally go find the orbs and take them back from Team Astral. The player and Steven then head out of the mine and Steven brings the player to the Pokemon Center to rest and heads off telling the player they’ll talk again soon.
The player after recovering, heads out of the Pokemon Center and heads over to the Nugget Digger and hands them the Red Nugget the player found, delighted by the player’s success the Nugget Digger gives the player a Big Nugget as thanks explaining that the Big Nugget has no value in comparison to the Red Nugget and heads off allowing the player to continue along their journey. The player progresses further south finding more Jungle however the Route soon opens up to a large Lake with Mt. Pyre in the middle, the player walks along the pathway towards Mt. Pyre however is stopped suddenly by Skyler who tells the player that she had been training in Mt. Pyre and caught a few new Pokemon to strengthen her team, she warns the player that her Team is stronger than before. The player and Skyler then battle it out; however despite Skyler’s Team having changed, she is still defeated. Skyler then thanks the player for the battle and tells the player that she’ll keep training and runs off, the player continues traversing eastwards however is stopped soon after by a blockade of Team Astral Grunts who tell the player that Team Astral is conducting investigations in Mt. Pyre and that the player should head back to Fortree and wait until the investigations are complete. The player then heads down to Mt. Pyre and enters the Graveyard Mountain. Upon entering the player finds the place to be overrun with Team Astral Grunts. The player goes and battles the Grunts, along the way rescuing various individuals who were being held captive by Team Astral. The player navigates their way up Mt. Pyre and soon after traversing in and out of the Mountain reaches the peak where many Graves are located, the player heads up the pathway and upon reaching the top finds an Alter where Alpha, Omega, Beta & Lambda are all awaiting the player. Omega greets the player expressing his gratitude in the player sacrificing their Blue Orb, he explains that the Red Orb and Blue Orb are meant for controlling Groudon and Kyogre respectively and with them Team Astral can rule the Land and the Oceans, he continues stating that there is however a third orb, an Orb that can control Rayquaza, he explains that the player was doomed from the start and could never have stopped the return of the Emerald Orb. Beta and Lambda walk up to the player and tell the player that they’re too late and their going to have fun wiping the hope of the player’s face, just before Beta and Lambda can say another word, Steven shows up telling the player not to worry as he and the player are going to be taking the orbs back. Steve and the player then battle the two Lieutenant Commanders.
The player and Steven are able to defeat the two Lieutenant Commanders who become frustrated at their Pokemon, with no other choice the Lieutenant Commanders allow the player and Steven to pass. The two walk up to Alpha and Omega who begin their master plan, by placing the Red Orb and Blue Orb on the Alter and generating colossal amounts of Energy via massive tanks of a mysterious fluid they cause the surrounding area to darken, the Red Orb and Blue Orb begin reacting to each other and the colossal amounts of energy, and float up into the air and begin quickly rotating around and invisible central mass, slowly but surely the energy being generated from the tanks begins focusing in between the two orbs and slowly forms and Orb itself, the Energy compacts itself into the Emerald Orb that Omega spoke of and the three drop back down onto the alter, Alpha and Omega then walk over to the Blue and Red Orbs and pick them up telling the player and Steven that they’ll now have the sweet delight of crushing the last ounce of hopes the two trainers have before summoning the three legendary Pokemon. The player and Steven battle the two Bosses of Team Astral and through a very difficult and challenging battle the player and Steven are able to defeat the Bosses, both astonished by the outcome, Alpha yells that despite their loss they still have the Emerald Orb, grabbing it and holding it up in the air, just as Alpha does so, an Altaria swoops down and grabs the Emerald Orb out of Alpha’s hand, the player and Steven look up and see Winona who yells to the player and Steven that she’ll be right down. The player and Steven watch as Winona and her Altaria, glide down to the peak of Mt. Pyre and ask the player and Steven if they needed help, she explains that after what happened in Fortree City she knew she had to repay the player and Steven and explains that she brought some back up. Just as Winona finishes her sentence, Wallace, Ramona, Flannery & Vermont show up explaining that they heard from Winona that Team Astral were gathering at Mt. Pyre and wanted to make Team Astral pay for the damage and chaos they’d caused before. Just then the Team Astral Commanders; Delta and Phi who tell the Team Astral Bosses that they need to leave as trainers from the surrounding Routes are beginning to amass around Mt. Pyre to take on Team Astral. Alpha and Omega then call a full-scale retreat with the Helicopter from Mauville descending from the skies to rescue the Team Astral Members, Flannery asks why they aren’t stopping Team Astral to which, Steven tells Flannery that there’s no point attacking them, as long as Team Astral doesn’t have the Emerald Orb Hoenn will be safe. Steven tells the player that they must seek out Pamus and explains that Pamus being a Draconid is able to summon with Rayquaza, Steven then tells Winona to give the player the Emerald Orb as Team Astral will assume that he (Steven) will have it. Steven then wishes the player luck and departs, Winona walks over to the player and hands them the Emerald Orb telling the player to keep it safe and hidden before flying away. Wallace then instructs Ramona, Flannery & Vermont to head back as they’ll be needed again when the time comes, Ramona thanks the player for battling Team Astral wherever the player is and Vermont tells the player to stay strong, Flannery then tells the player that after all of this is over she will want to battle the player. The four head off and leave the player to scale back down Mt. Pyre.
Once the player reaches the base of Mt. Pyre they find that several guards have blockaded the road to Lilycove, the guards explain that due to the recent activity and sightings of Team Astral Grunts near Mt. Pyre Lilycove has been closed off until an all-clear is heard from both Fortree City & Barkglow City. The player is then greeted by Winona who tells the guards that as the leader of Fortree City she gives the all clear for Fortree and states that the player and she along with numerous others have dealt with the problem on Mt. Pyre, the guards accept her All-Clear and tell the player that they should head to Barkglow City and get confirmation from the Flight Master as he is the leader of the City. Winona tells the player that the Flight Master is actually her Grandmother and that she’ll meet the player when they arrive in Barkglow City. Winona flies off and leaves the player to traverse past Mt. Pyre and into Route 123, the player progresses into Route 153 where they find themselves in a large forested area quite distinct to the Jungle of Route 120 and when at night the player discovers that the trees’ leaves glow a faint blue colour. The player progresses through Route 153 until they arrive in Barkglow City, upon arrival the player is greeted by Winona who explains that her grandmother is waiting in the central building of the city, Winona directs the player to the building and explains that all the buildings in Barkglow City were built from the wood of the trees on Route 153 and that the Central Building was carved out of a massive tree and was the first building in the City. The player and Winona enter the central building and are greeted by an elderly lady who introduces herself as Aerine and is Winona’s grandmother. She explains that while she knows there is no threat of Team Astral in Barkglow City, a town to the South-West of Barkglow City called Marstio Town has reported some local disturbance and she fears that it may be Team Astral. Aerine asks the player to go to Marstio Town and check that everything is all right, Winona intervenes asking why she can’t go to which Aerine tells Winona that she needs to go back to Fortree City and make sure it isn’t attacked again as Aerine explains that word travels fast and that she knows that Winona needed the player’s help to stop Team Astral and that she needs to trainer her Pokemon more. Winona sighs in disappointment and accepts Aerine’s decision, bidding the player farewell wishing the player the best of luck if anything goes wrong in Marstio Town. After Winona has exited the building, Aerine turns to the player and tells the player that Marstio Town is on an Island so the player will need a Pokemon that can Surf to get to it.
The player then heads out of the Central Building and heads for the West Gate of the City, however the player is stopped by Wally who greets the player, saying that he’s surprised to see the player this far East and asks how many badges they have, Wally tells the player that the next Gym Leader lives North of Lilycove City so they’ll need to navigate the Ocean Routes of North Hoenn to reach the Town. Wally asks the player if they’re heading to Mastrio Town, after the player replies Wally gives the player a Miracle Seed, Charcoal & Mystic Water explaining that there are Dragon-Type Pokemon that reside on Route 154 that are resistant to the player’s Starter Pokemon and will likely put up quite a defence. Wally says his goodbyes to the player before heading into Barkglow City, the player continues onwards into Route 154 where they find that rather rapidly the Route become a steep ascent upwards, as the player reaches the peak of the Route they find a lone house, the owner of the house exits to greet the player introducing himself as Ajagara who tells the player that he had heard of the player from Pamus and explains that he too is a Draconid, he explains that when he and Pamus were young boys they would often compete to see who could climb up Meteor Falls the fastest, he invites the player inside explaining that he knows the player will be looking for Pamus as Ajagara explains that he can sense the immense draconic power emanating from the player’s Backpack. Ajagara explains that Pamus has likely gone to Sky Tower to call upon Rayquaza, knowing the impending danger of Team Astral he has likely gone there in case the player is unable to bring the Emerald Orb in time. Ajagara tells the player not to fear as Pamus will not summon Rayquaza without the imminent danger of Groudon and Kyogre, Ajagara then tells the player to continue their journey and to not stop until they are sure that they’re goal is completed. Ajagara then gives the player the Altarianite explaining that if the player ever needs a Pokemon that knows the power of Dragon Pokemon and can easily conquer them then they should use the Altarianite. Ajagara then thanks the player for listening to his knowledge and bids the player farewell. The player heads out of Ajagara’s house and heads towards Mastrio Town, the player arrives and finds the town is safe and finds out from the locals that the disturbance was a lack of communication. The player begins to head back to Route 154 when suddenly a multitude of Team Astral Grunts show up stating that they’re taking the Town and its people hostage, the player refuses to let the grunts pass and begins fighting each one. The player conquers all the grunts before more back up arrives; suddenly the player hears a voice from the other side of the grunts and sees Ajagara who tells the player to handle the grunts on their end while he handles the grunts on Route 154’s end. The player and Ajagara work their way through the grunts who retreat in defeat until the player and Ajagara defeat all the grunts, just as the last two grunts flee, two commanders; Zeta & Phi intrude stating that they’d heard from the grunts that the player was preventing their access into Mastrio Town, to which Phi smirks stating that the player got luck in their last encounters and with the team that Zeta and Phi are capable of the player and Ajagara will swiftly be defeated. Ajagara asks the player to team up which the player accepts and the two battle against the Team Astral Commanders.
The player and Ajagara soon overcome the commanders and force them to admit defeat, Phi warns the player that he will have his revenge, while Zeta just laughs and bids the player farewell telling the player that he looks forward to their next match. The two commanders run off leaving the player and Ajagara standing at the gate. Ajagara pauses for a moment and then begins laughing telling the player that he hasn’t had a battle like that in a long time, he tells the player that they fight with the same passion that Pamus did when he was younger and tells the player to keep the fire of battle burning. Ajagara then tells the player that he’ll be vigilant over Route 154 and make sure no Team Astral Grunts get to Mastrio Town. Ajagara then heads back to Route 154 allowing the player to return to Barkglow City and inform Aerine of the news, happy to hear that the player and Ajagara were able to deal with the Team Astral Grunts, Aerine tells the player that she’ll head right over to the Guards at the Blockade and inform them that Barkglow is all clear and gives the player the HM for Fly telling the player to continue on their journey and never lose sight of their aim. Aerine then heads up to Route 121 to inform the guards allowing the player to find out if the guards have indeed moved. The player finds that they have and continues onwards to Lilycove City, the player finds that they can’t reach Route 151 due to a Bridge connecting Route 121 & Route 151 being raised. Speaking to the locals of Lilycove City the player finds out that the bridge was raised to stop Team Astral getting in from the East. The player heads over to the City Hall which is a combination of the Lilycove Museum and Guard Building, before the player can enter the building they are stopped by Skyler who asks the player what they’re doing in Lilycove City to which the player tells Skyler about the Bridge, just before Skyler can respond Brendan and May show up asking the player and Skyler if they’d like a rematch, Skyler excited for a Rematch accepts and tells the player to get ready. The two young trainers then go up against Brendan and May once again.
The player and Skyler once again defeat Brendan and May, who congratulate the player and Skyler on their skilful teamwork. The two trainers tell the player and Skyler to keep up the good work and keep training hard, they then depart leaving the player and Skyler. Skyler tells the player that the next time they meet they should have another Battle to see who’s stronger and heads off allowing the player to continue into the Lilycove Hall. The player finds that the hall is massive in size with many rooms located throughout; the player navigates their way around soon finding the Bridge Controls, approaching them they are stopped by the mayor of Lilycove who introduces himself as Mr. Ignetraty and explains that he can’t lower the bridge yet, he tells the player that beneath the bridge is a massive gorge, the gorge is filled with numerous Ground Type Pokemon and is supposedly hiding a Legendary Pokemon deep within the walls of the Gorge, Mr. Ignetraty asks the player to go down into the Gorge and find out if such a Legendary Pokemon exists and if so to ensure it doesn’t fall into the hands of Team Astral. The player accepts Mr. Ignetraty’s request and heads back to the Bridge where a guard that was previously guarding the pathway down the gorge has moved to allow the player to pass, telling the player that he heard about Mr. Ignetraty’s request and wishes the player the best of luck. The player progresses down the steep slopes and muddy terrain and navigates through the miniature tunnels eventually reaching the base. The player finds seven rock pillars jutting out of the ground in an H-Formation. The player approaches the pillars and upon touching the central pillar, all the pillars sink into the ground below and reveal a massive cavern opening. The player delves inside and finds a massive Rock Golem resting within the shadows of the cavern, the player approaches the Pokemon, awakening it, its eyes glow and it reveals its name, Regirock. Regirock then attacks the player forcing the player to battle the Pokemon, after the player defeats (Regirock cannot be captured during the Storyline) Regirock, it backs off and Mr. Ignetraty arrives, telling the player that he’d heard from his guard that the player had gone into a massive cavern.
Mr. Ignetraty then approaches Regirock and inspects it, he then turns to the player and tells the player that they must let Regirock escape as at this point it is too vulnerable to battle any Team Astral Grunts, the player and Mr. Ignetraty then approach Regirock and Mr. Ignetraty tells the player that Regirock communicates through Electromagnetic waves, Mr. Ignetraty tells the player to stand back, the player does so and Mr. Ignetraty presses his hands up against Regirock, the golem’s core flickers multiple times and then it heads off burrowing deep underground. Mr. Ignetraty then heads over to the player explaining that around Hoenn there are three Legendary Golems, the one the player met was Regirock and tells the player that the other two are Regice & Registeel and that they may well be hiding around Hoenn as well as tells the player to keep an eye out for Pillars that indicate their presence. The player and Mr. Ignetraty then return to the City Hall and Mr. Ignetraty tells the player that he now believes that Lilycove City is safe and thanks the player for their assistance in the crisis, he then lowers the bridge for the player wishing them safety on their journey ahead. The player heads off towards Route 151 and into the Hoenn Ocean Routes once again. The player navigates their way along the Icy waters of Route 151 soon reaching a set of miniature islands connecting Route 151 with Routes 152 & 125. The player is stopped from entering Route 125 as nearby Lifeguards tell the player that the waters North of Mossdeep City are currently in the path of a migrating pod of Wailord and the Route needs to be cleared out while the Wailord pass by. The player instead heads up Route 152, the waters becoming more Ice than Water the player soon reaches the town Wally suggested visiting, called Arctome Town, a small snowy hamlet of houses on the lone island. The player finds that there is a small Forest to the North-East of the Town that can be explored. The player attempts to access the gym; however the Gym Guide tells the player that the Gym Leader isn’t available at the moment as they’d gone off to search for some lost children in the Forest. The player goes to investigate moving through the Snowy-White Forest eventually finding the children deep within the forest, the player approaches the children who warn the player that they were chased by two large and menacing Pokemon, suddenly out of the depths of the Forest a Glalie & Froslass appear and attack the player. The player handles the two Pokemon and keeps the children safe; afterwards the children thank the player explaining that they often go out into the Forest looking for the Icy Stone which is said to bring their town good weather when touched by one of its inhabitants. The children ask the player to help them find the Icy Stone and the player accepts, the children tag along and help the player out in battles.
The player and the children soon come across the Icy Stone they spoke of earlier, the player notices someone lying against the stone, the player and children rush over and find the Gym Leader, Reese badly hurt. The children ask Reese what happened to which Reese tells the player that he’d heard the player would be arriving soon and was on the trail of a Team Astral Commander who was investigating the Forest. The Children tell the player to go find Team Astral and stop them as they’d hurt the Gym Leader. The player obliges and heads into a cave near the Icy Stone. The player begins running into Team Astral Grunts who warn the player that they’re on the hunt for Regice and had figured out it was hiding within the cave. The player soon reaches the bottom floor of the cave to find that Delta & Theta were awaiting the player. Theta greets the player telling the player that they’re just in time to witness Team Astral capture the Legendary Ice Golem. Theta then walks over to the central pillar of the floor and activates it causing all the pillars to sink into the ground like in the gorge, a new section to the cave then opens up further ahead. The player attempts to stop Theta however Delta gets in the player’s way and tells the player that it’s time for them to have a rematch and the player and Delta battle once again. The player once again is able to defeat Delta who ends up becoming extremely frustrated in his Pokemon stating that the player must be cheating somehow, Delta then warns the player that Theta will utterly crush the player’s Pokemon and runs off. The player quickly rushes into the cave where Theta headed into and sees Theta standing in front of the Ice Golem, he tells the player that before he utterly destroys the player’s Pokemon, he will let Regice weaken itself against the player’s Pokemon, Theta then hits Regice and moves out of the way, Regice awakens and attacks the player in frustration.
The player soon defeats Regice as he did with Regirock (Regirock cannot be captured during the Storyline). Theta surprised by the outcome commends the player on their remarkably strong Pokemon and tells the player that it’s time for him to take Regice. The player quickly presses their hands against Regice, the Legendary Ice Golem’s core flickers multiple times and the Pokemon then sinks into the Icy Floor of the Cave before leaving. Theta frustrated at the player for making Regice escape, attacks the player with all their might, the player however quickly reverses the intention of Theta leaving him defeated once more. Frustrated at another loss to the player, Theta runs off telling the player that they will regret delaying the inevitable. The player then heads out of the cave and meets back up with Reese and the Children, Reese now standing thanks the player for defeating the Team Astral Grunts and states that he will gladly await the player at the Gym back in Arctome Town. Reese and the children then head back to Arctome Town allowing the player to wander freely, the player soon heads back as well and walks up to the Gym and enters. The player finds the Gym to have an open roof with Snow constantly pouring in, walking over to the Gym Guide; he explains to the player that the Gym is designed so that the player has to go through the multitude of Snow Piles to find the Switches to open the Gates to each new area. He tells the player there are four zones in all with the Gym Leader at the Final Zone. The player then begins proceeding through each zone, finding the switches and battling each trainer along the way, along the way the player begins having to look under snow piles, stone and other objects for the switches, eventually the player reaches Reese at the back of the Gym. Reese greets the player thanking them for helping out back in the forest with finding the Children and stopping Team Astral. He explains that Arctome Town is very different from the rest of Hoenn, he explains that the Island Arctome Town is built upon was supposedly created during the incident with Team Magma 8 years ago, due to Groudon’s rampage landmasses rose out of the sea including the one Arctome Town is now built upon. He then tells the player that he expects quite the challenge from them based on what he’s heard prior to the player’s arrival, the player and Reese then engage in battle. Reese’s Ice-Type Pokemon prove to be a tricky combination however the player is able to eventually conquer Reese’s Team and win their sixth Gym Badge. After defeat, Reese sighs stating that he wishes the battle could go on for longer explaining that it got him really heated, Reese then concedes defeat and hands the player the Kelvin Badge explaining that with 6 Badges the player will now be able to use the HM for Fly outside of Battle, he also gives the player the TM for Cold Snap, explaining that the move does double damage against lighter Pokemon.
The player then heads out of the Gym and is suddenly greeted by an old woman who introduces herself as Glacia, she explains that she’d heard great things about the player and wanted to inform the player that she needs their assistance. She explains that she was once considered one of the most powerful trainers in Hoenn but has since stepped down from her role as she lost interest with awaiting battles. She explains that she’d heard that the player was searching for the Regis to protect them from Team Astral; she explains that the player will need Dive to reach Registeel as its markings have been sighted in a City in the South of Hoenn called Glaeld City, she tells the player that she knows of the location where the Regi is hidden and will tell the player at Glaeld City if they can prove their power, she then tells the player to ready themselves as she heals up the player’s party and begins a battle between the two of them.
The player soon defeats Glacia who commends the player on proving that the tales about them are true. She tells the player that they’ll need to find a person who has the HM for Dive as well as defeat the Gym Leaders of Mossdeep City as the player will need 7 Badges to use Dive outside of Battle. Glacia then bids the player farewell and heads south of the Town allowing the player to continue. The player heads back down South through Route 152 and finds Route 125 is once again accessible, the player continues heading South until they run into Shoal Cave, the player navigates their way through the cave and runs into an old man who asks the player if they came from Arctome Town, the player responds telling the old man that they had, the old man then tells the player that he’s heading up there now however he’s gathered too many Shell Bells that he’s been gifting them to people he’s met on the way out of Shoal Cave, he then gives the player one telling the player that it may help them in battle if they need it. He then heads off deeper into the cave bidding the player safe travels. The player continues through the cave and soon arrives on the South Side of Shoal Cave back into Route 125 to navigate around and into Mossdeep City. The player enters the city to find that it is heavily industrialized with elevated walkways floating slightly off the ground; the player finds out from the locals of Mossdeep that due to funding to their research department they were able to create hover technology although it’s only in its infant stage of development. They tell the player that the idea of hover technology was helped by the Gym Leaders of the city who’s Psychic-Type Pokemon are able to levitate freely. The player heads over to the gym however finds it to be locked, just then the player is greeted by Skyler who asks the player if they’re here to see the Gym Leaders, the player responds telling Skyler that they are to which Skyler tells the player that the Gym Leaders are currently at Comet Cave where they’ve been training their Pokemon, Skyler then proposes they have a battle before either of them go find the Gym Leaders to see who’s stronger. The player accepts and the two begin their battle, the player finds that Skyler’s Pokemon have grown significantly since their last battle however the player still is able to overcome their rival’s Pokemon. After the battle, Skyler sighs stating that she hates to admit that the player won again although tells the player that the next time they battle it’ll be different. She then heads off allowing the player to go to Comet Cave to find the Gym Leaders.
The player heads over to the entrance to Comet Cave where as its name suggests, chunks of meteor had fallen from space and changed the landscape of the Eastern half of the island making it into a Cave. The player heads inside to find a large cave with multiple levels, with the walls of the cave glimmering from the Metals inside. The player delves deeper into the cave, through its deep descent the player soon reaches the bottom finding an open chasm with light filtering down, the player approaches two individuals standing next to a large glowing boulder, they turn to face the player and introduce themselves, speaking in unison as Tate & Liza. They tell the player they know they’ve come to battle them for the player’s seventh gym badge and explain that they will return to the Gym; however they need help within Comet Cave first. The twins explain that a little while ago the large boulder behind them crashed into the cave and has been causing unrest in the City, they ask the player to help them break down the boulder, the player accepts and Liza hands the player a specialized drill, they explain that the drill will bore through the rock and leave only geological material left. The twins then head over to the Boulder each standing on one side of it and send out a Lunatone and Solrock, they along with their Pokemon then use their Psychic Abilities to lift the boulder up into the air and tell the player to place the drill beneath the boulder, the player does so and the twins slowly lower the boulder down into the drill as it processes the material. Just as they begin making serious progress Team Astral Grunts show up stating that they’re taking the boulder and its contents due to the power emitted from it, stating that it is capable of generating beyond measurable amounts of energy. Tate & Liza then tell the player to stop the Team Astral Grunts while they process the boulder, explaining that they have to hold the boulder in place otherwise it’ll break the drill. The player obliges and starts battling the numerous grunts that are attempting to take the boulder. Soon the player works their way through the grunts while Tate, Liza & their Pokemon completely break down the boulder into its components. They then have the machine dump the geological material and head over to the player, just as they do so, three commanders walk down. Epsilon, Zeta and Phi express their disappointment in their grunts and then realize the player was present discouraged by the player’s presence they issue the player with a Triple Battle Match expressing their desire for revenge, Tate & Liza tell the player not to worry and to just be prepared to battle. The two Gym Leaders and the player then initiate their battle with the three commanders.
The player and the two Gym Leaders defeat the Team Astral Commanders who tell the player that they can’t keep getting in Team Astral’s way, at some point Zeta states, the player will slip up, Phi expresses his interest in being the one to take the player down and the three commanders retreat. Tate & Liza thank the player for stopping Team Astral and tell the player that they’ll be awaiting the player’s challenge at their gym and head off allowing the player to navigate their way out of Comet Cave as well. The player soon returns to Mossdeep City and is greeted by Professor Cozmo who explains that he’d meaning to come see the player about the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon. He explains that he was researching the ancient symbols in Meteor Falls and Mt. Chimney and discovered that the massive Stone Tablet in front of Mt. Chimney on Route 112 is actually Groudon’s Seal and the chamber it covers leads to the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon. Professor Cozmo goes on to explain that he had scientists from Mossdeep researching the surrounding Ocean Routes for indications of Kyogre’s Seal and he explains that they haven’t been able to conclusively find it although Cozmo suspects that it may be at the Seafloor Cavern, however due to the intense depths of the Seafloor Cavern his scientists have been unable to access it. Professor Cozmo then asks the player if they’re going to challenge the gym leaders in Mossdeep, the player responds and Cozmo asks the player that after they’ve defeated the Gym Leaders of Mossdeep to go to the Seafloor Cavern on Route 128. The player accepts Professor Cozmo’s request and the Professor thanks the player before heading into the Space Research Facility up North. The player continues over to the Gym and enters.
Upon entering the gym the player finds that the entire Gym is structured with multiple Moon phases, each phase having teleport links to get from one side to the other. The player walks over to the Gym Guide who congratulates the player on coming for their second last badge, he explains that the Gym has switches on each side that replace the moon on the other side, however the switches need to be pulled in a particular order as each switch’s complimentary moon phase depends on the moon phase the player has on their side. The player armed with this knowledge progresses through the complex array of Moon Phases switching in between different phases, eventually reaching the Gym Leaders. Upon arriving Tate and Liza thank the player for helping them secure the mysterious material back in Comet Cave explaining that Mossdeep has been known for having Meteor Showers quite often however they were unable to figure out what the material was initially inside the boulder so they’re having the scientists at the space Research Facility try and figure it out. They then tell the player that that’s in the past now and they’re ready to battle the player, the explain that unlike most Gym Leaders, the player will face both of them together, they tell the player that they have a mental bond that is virtually unbeatable and ask the player if they’re ready, the player responds and the twins tell the player to stay strong. The player and the Gym Leaders begin their battle and with numerous and powerful Psychic Type Pokemon, Tate & Liza put up a serious defence against the player, however despite their Teamwork the twins are defeated by the player. Tate & Liza admit defeat and congratulate the player on their powerful and well trained Pokemon. They tell the player that they see a lot of potential in the player and believe that the player is very close to a new found Power, one that Hoenn has yet to witness.
The player heads out of the Gym however just as the player exits they see numerous Team Astral Grunts swarm Mossdeep City planning to capture the city. Tate & Liza quickly run out and tell the player to handle the Team Astral Grunts in the residential houses while they head up to the Space Research Facility to ensure the Scientists’ safety. The player obliges and heads over to the houses and begins defeating large numbers of Team Astral Grunts while also ensuring the citizens get to safety. Along the way the player encounters Delta tormenting a set of citizens, Delta tells the player to leave while they still can, the player refuses and the Commander battles the player, despite being defeated yet again he laughs telling the player that he knew they’d be stubborn enough to try and rescue citizens, Delta then calls upon a dozen Grunts who attack the player in a Horde Battle. The player swiftly defeats the grunts despite their numbers. Disappointed by the outcome, Gamma enters, expressing her frustration in the player’s constant interference; she attacks the player trying to defeat them in a weakened state however to no avail. Gamma then orders the grunts and Delta to fall back to the Space Research Facility. Team Astral then retreats into the Space Research Facility with the player quickly following after them. The player heads into the building to be attacked by more Team Astral Grunts, as the player works their way up the building they run into more commanders this time facing off against, Theta on the 3rd Floor, Phi on the 6th Floor and Epsilon and Zeta together in a Double Battle on the 11th Floor. The player soon reaches the Head Scientist’s Room where the player finds Tate & Liza beaten by the Lieutenant Commanders; Beta and Lambda, the two commanders commend the player for getting past so many members of Team Astral however tell the player that their winning streak ends right now.
The player, about to face off against both Lieutenant Commanders is halted by Steven who explains that a 2 against 1 match with as many Pokemon as the Lieutenant Commanders have is pretty unfair, Steven apologizes to the player, Tate & Liza for not having arrived sooner and tells the player to ready themselves for another battle. The player and Steven then battle the two Lieutenant Commanders and despite the sheer number of Pokemon involved in the battle, the player and Steven come out the victors. Astonished by this defeat, Lambda expresses his frustration in his Pokemon and tells the player that they are only able to win due to Steven helping them. Just then, Lambda is silenced by Omega who expresses his disappointment in the lack of honour from Lambda, he tells the player and Steven that they know what the stone the player found in Comet Cave was and will be taking it as repayment for the damage the player had caused Team Astral. Alpha then steps forwards and tells the player and Steven to stand aside. Steven refuses and asks the player if they have his back, the player agrees and the two trainers go up against the bosses of Team Astral. The player and Steven put all the effort they have into the battle against the bosses of Team Astral and despite the incredible force behind each Pokemon from the bosses, the player and Steven win. Completely shocked by the outcome, Omega and Alpha call for a full retreat however in the process throw numerous smoke bombs allowing them to escape with the Stone.
Surprised that Team Astral was able to escape, Steven informs the player that whatever they’re planning with the stone it may have to do with the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon. Steven then runs off and tells the player they need to head to Glaeld City and tells the player that they’d heard from Glacia as well about Registeel markings near Glaeld City. Steven then heads off telling the player they’ll find the HM for Dive in Pacifidlog Town which is West of Route 128. The player heads off from Mossdeep City travelling south along the vast ocean routes of Hoenn; the player encounters numerous Water Trainers and finds multiple pockets of water where using Dive would be possible. The player continues along until they soon reach the floating Town of Pacifidlog. The player arrives and is quickly greeted by Wally who tells the player that they were informed by Steven that the player would be coming to look for the HM for Dive, Wally explains that the person who keeps the Dive HMs had gone up to the Statue of Kyogre just north of Pacifidlog, he tells the player to keep vigilant for any hints of Team Astral Activity and heads off allowing the player to go see the Dive Keeper. The player navigates their way around the multitude of boards that link the buildings of Pacifidlog together. The player soon reaches a pathway up the North Island of Pacifidlog and finds a rough terrain which twists and turns to the pinnacle of the Island. The player soon reaches the top battling numerous wild Pokemon and several trainers; they find the Dive Keeper standing in front of a statue of a giant marine Pokemon, Kyogre. The player walks over to the Dive Keeper who turns around and introduces himself as Archie, he asks the player if they’ve come seeking the HM for Dive. The player replies and Archie happy to see the player’s determination for travelling Hoenn explains that he too once had a determination not unlike the player’s however his was misguided explaining that he was the leader of a villainous organization known as Team Aqua and that they’d foolishly believed that by increasing the Ocean Levels they would be able to rule the world and make it better for Pokemon, he explains how his team summoned Kyogre from its slumber and attempted to have it rise the ocean levels, however he was luckily stopped as was Kyogre by another Trainer. Archie continues, stating that he fears for the danger Team Astral puts on Hoenn and that he understands the player’s desire to stop such a catastrophe from happening, just before Archie gives the player the HM for Dive a couple of Team Astral Grunts and Commander Phi show up and demand Archie’s knowledge about Kyogre for its resummoning, Archie refuses to give up the information and asks the player to help him ward off Team Astral. The player agrees and the player and Archie pair up to fight Team Astral.
After the player and Archie deal with Team Astral, Phi calls for a retreat warning the player that they will revive the Sea Basin Pokemon. Archie thanks player for stopping Team Astral and apologizes expressing his remorse for encouraging such behaviour, he explains that he was instructed by Steven to keep a hold onto numerous HMs for Dive due to his experience with Water-Type Pokemon. Archie then tells the player to meet him at his house in Pacifidlog Town to obtain the HM. The player heads back down the island and back to Pacifidlog and finds Archie’s house and heads inside to find Archie awaiting the player. He hands the player the HM for Dive and explains that they’ll only be able to reach Glaeld City from the East by passing through Shorest City as there is a Waterfall that prevents access from the Western Side of the City. Archie thanks the player for not criticizing him for his past actions and the player heads off back into Route 130 and 128 towards Shorest City. The player continues down Route 129 and passes Route 150, unable to access it due to a Waterfall; the player soon reaches Shorest City as Archie mentioned. The player passes through the City however is stopped by Mr. Stone who expresses his surprise in seeing the player as far South as Shorest City, he explains that he has another branch that works in Shorest City on Marine Technology, he offers the player to come visit explaining that they might have something the player could use to reach Registeel due to the depth its cavern is located at. The player accepts and heads into the Devon Corp Marine Technology Building. Inside the player finds the building to be filled with numerous experimental technologies. Mr. Stone directs the player to the lower levels as he explains a variety of experiments being conducted on each floor, the player and Mr. Stone soon reach the bottom floor where Mr. Stone introduces the player to the Sea Basin Suit revealing a suit designed for very Deep Water exploration, he explains that he was informed by Steven about the player’s intention to venture in the waters of Route 147 and explains that there is a deep trench located where Registeel markings are located. He tells the player that the Sea Basin Suit was built from analysis of various Pokemon that could dive incredibly deep and hands the player the suit explaining that he wishes the player luck and allows the player to depart out of the Devon Corp Marine Technology Building. Just as the player reaches the top level of the building, the alarms go off as a multitude of Team Astral Grunts storm the building including Commander Epsilon and Commander Theta. Theta announces over the loud speakers their intent to steal the Extreme Depth Submarine from Devon Corp and that all resistance will be swiftly taken down. The player is then quickly ambushed by numerous Team Astral Grunts who express their desire for revenge against the player. The player however defeats the grunts and continues through the level of the building soon reaching the entrance to the room where the Submarine was being held, however Epsilon blocks the player’s path expressing her intent to stall the player long enough to let Team Astral steal the Submarine. The player and Epsilon battle once again however just like before, Epsilon is defeated and laughs telling the player that there’s no stopping the Submarine now. The player quickly rushes into the Submarine Room to find Theta entering the Submarine; he sees the player and wishes them safe travels as he’s on his way to obtain the Legendary Golem, Registeel.
The rest of the grunts and Epsilon retreat and Mr. Stone heads over to the player apologizing for not being able to stop Team Astral explaining that he appreciates the effort the player put into defeating Team Astral and tells the player that they must hurry to reach Registeel’s chamber before Team Astral. The player heads off and Mr. Stone wishes the player safe travels. The player then heads East out of Shorest City towards Glaeld City, progressing through more Ocean Routes the player soon reaches what splits Route 149 and Route 148 from each other, a massive cave called Eon Cave, the player attempts to pass by it however a voice draws the player into the cave, within the player descends down the levels of the cave unable to leave. The player soon reaches the bottom and finds a mysterious pair of Pokemon hovering over a small body of water, the player approaches them however is suddenly ambushed by Team Astral Grunts and Commander Zeta who tells the player that the Pokemon they see behind the commander are Latias and Latios, two Pokemon that have been sought after by Team Astral for a long time due to their immense power. Zeta tells the player they won’t be saving the legendries this time. The Team Astral Grunts then begin swarming the player as they slowly progress through each battle towards Zeta, the player eventually defeats all the grunts and reaches Zeta. Surprised the player wasn’t stopped he tells the player he’ll put them out of their misery and begins another battle against the player. The player however, despite having already faced a barrage of grunts the player still defeats Zeta who is startled by the sheer power the player’s Pokemon possess. Zeta orders a full retreat telling the player that they can’t protect all the legendries. The player then walks over to the Legendary Pokemon and is halted by Wally who shows up telling the player that he saw the Team Astral Grunts flee the cave and assumed the player had something to do with it. He notices the Eon Pokemon on the water and tells the player that they must’ve called the player to the cave; Wally explains how the Legendary Pokemon, Latias and Latios possess the ability to transform into humans to conceal their identities. Wally then tells the player that they should try to capture the Eon Duo, however just before the player can approach the water, the Eon Duo fly off, Wally laughs and tells the player that they’ve probably gone to roam Hoenn and that the player will have to look carefully for them, Wally then heads off allowing the player to exit the cave.
The player soon returns to Route 149 and progresses onto Route 148 eventually arriving in Glaeld City. The player finds the city is held on a massive plate of metal that is held above the water by the surrounding Islands. The player heads into the City and is greeted by Glacia who explains that she’d been waiting for the player’s arrival and explains that there is a massive trench that runs along Route 147 to the West of the City; however the trench is merely the access Point explaining that she heard from Mr. Stone about the stolen Submarine, she tells the player they’ll need to look for the true location of Registeel through an Underwater Cavern. Glacia then heads off allowing the player to progress into Route 147 to search for the Registeel Pillars. The player heads into the trench via use of the HM Dive and begins navigating around the inky abyss. The player soon finds a multitude of small holes burrowed into the walls of the trench however one particularly large hole on the East Wall of the trench leads the player to find themselves in the waters beneath Glaeld City. The player sees the Registeel Pillars in a hexagonal pattern with one in the centre. The player presses on the center pillar and the pillars begin to shake as a rumbling noise is heard, the player notices that no cave opened up under the water and resurfaces underneath the city to find the cave entrance was above ground. The player heads in and finds Registeel patiently awaiting the player. Before the player can get Registeel to retreat however the player hears a loud motor from outside the cave and sees numerous Team Astral Grunts exit from the submarine stolen along with Commander Theta. The player is quickly surrounded and Theta tells the player that they won’t be saving Registeel today; the Grunts then begin simultaneously battling the player in a quick barrage of double, triple and even a horde battle. The player however is able to fend all of them off causing them to retreat; Theta then approaches the player and battles the player with the intent of getting to Registeel, the player however denies Theta the victory and Theta is once again forced to retreat, he tells the player that Team Astral still has the Red and Blue Orbs and they won’t be able to save Groudon and Kyogre. The player then walks over to Registeel who flickers a few times before battling.
Once again the player is unable to capture the Regi and allows it to escape to be encountered another time. The player then heads out of the cave and back up to Glaeld City where the player is greeted once again by Glacia who asks the player if Registeel is save, the player responds and Glacia pleased to hear the news tells the player that she has a reward for them in her house in Glaeld City, the player follows Glacia back to her house where she gives the player the HM for Waterfall explaining that they’ll need it to reach the Pokemon League as well as their eighth and final Gym Badge. She tells the player that they best head to Sootopolis City if they intend on getting the eighth Gym Badge. The player heads out and is quickly greeted by Steven who explains that Team Astral has located the resting grounds of Groudon and Kyogre and tells the player that they’re making a move on Mt. Chimney where the Stone Tablet with the Omega Symbol that concealed Groudon’s resting ground was. Steven then tells the player that he’ll meet them at the entrance to Mt. Chimney where the Stone Tablet was and heads off. The player quickly heads across Hoenn to Mt. Chimney meeting up with Steven at the entrance to Mt. Chimney. Steven explains that with the help of the scientists from Mossdeep they decoded the stone tablet origin and he explains that there is another one at Seafloor Cavern although as the player notices the Stone Table to Mt. Chimney has already been broken. Steven and the player head inside ready to face off against Team Astral.
The player and Steven storm through the twisting and winding cavern defeating countless Grunts, they soon find themselves in front of a massive metal door however with a giant “M” on it. Steven looks at the player and asks them if they recognize the symbol, the player responds and Steven tells the player that one of his associates who is tied to the “M” is coming to help them, just then a man appears from theOld ma cave entrance Steven and the player came from, the man introduces himself as Maxie, explaining that he heard the player had already met Archie. He explains that he was the leader of the villainous organization that summoned Groudon eight years ago; he states that he had sought refuge with the people of Lavaridge Town and has since become accepted by most people. He explains that this giant door the player and Steven see before them was built shortly after the Groudon incident and holds Groudon within, he notes however that it has been opened and sealed from the inside however he has a special machine that can override the lock mechanism. He attaches a small electrical device to the control pad on the door and the machine lets out a buzz and the large “M” flashes, the door then slowly opens and the player, Steven and Maxie progress inside. The trio find even more Team Astral Grunts along with Omega standing at the edge of a massive Lava Pool. Maxie teams up with the player and Steven as they begin battling the multitude of Team Astral Grunts between them and Omega.
The player, Steven and Maxie soon reach Omega however Omega merely laughs stating that he will ensure that Team Astral will succeed were Team Magma failed, Maxie counter-argues with Omega telling him that it wasn’t Team Magma’s incompetence that failed them but the sheer power of Groudon. Omega ignores Maxie and orders more grunts to disrupt the player, Steven and Maxie, Maxie and Steven however block the grunts allowing the player to approach Omega. The player does so and Omega commends the player on being the first thing he erases from the new world. Omega then pulls the Red Orb out and as it shines a massive Red Flash occurs within the Lava Pool, the entire cave begins to rumble and Steven and Maxie stop fighting with the Team Astral Grunts who all stand in awe as Groudon rises out of the lava letting out a roar, the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon bows behind Omega and allows the Team Astral Boss to stand atop Groudon. Omega then offers the player one last battle before he destroys Hoenn, the player quickly runs up to Omega and battles the Team Astral Boss again, the player and Omega battle each other atop the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon as it slowly exits the cave. The player soon defeats Omega who laughs at the player telling them that even though he lost the battle he will win the war, then suddenly Groudon grabs the player and throws them into the sky, the player is quickly caught by Steven who was on his Skarmory, nearby Maxie catches up on his Crobat. Steven, Maxie and the player watch as Groudon slowly moves towards Sootopolis City, just then the player and Steven catch a glimpse of the Submarine stolen by Team Astral in Route 128, Steven tells the player that they’re going to go to Route 128 and try and stop Team Astral, Steven then tells Maxie to go find Archie as he may be able to help. Maxie obliges and flies South-East while Steven brings the player to Route 128. After the player and Steven land, Steven explains that he can’t enter Seafloor Cavern with his Pokemon, just suddenly however a voice tells Steven not to worry, suddenly Skyler shows up explaining that she was following the submarine due to it being odd to see one just searching the oceanic routes while surfaced. She tells Steven that she’ll go with the player; Steven accepts Skyler’s determination and wishes the two best of luck explaining that he’ll navigate the skies to see if there is any way for him to stop Groudon.
The player and Skyler dive into the water of the Seafloor Cavern (note: Skyler will dive with her Kingdra or Swampert), the two navigate their way through the inky darkness and soon find the Seafloor Cavern, the player and Skyler surface and begin searching through the cavern encountering numerous Team Astral Grunts, continuing through they find broken shards of Kyogre’s Stone Tablet and soon reach another massive door this one with an “A” on it. Archie soon arrives telling the player and Skyler not to worry as like Maxie he too has a device capable of overriding the safety on the door.
Archie then teams up with the player and Skyler as the head through the last few sections of the cavern and soon come across Alpha and even more Team Astral Grunts standing in front of a massive pool of bright blue water. Alpha turns and tells the player that she heard Omega had the unfortunate occurrence of having to deal with the player and tells the player that she wants to battle the player before she goes to destroy Hoenn, the Team Astral Grunts surround the trio of trainers and attack, however the player, Skyler and Archie are able to overcome the large number of grunts much to Alpha’s surprise. However before the player can stop Alpha she pulls out the Blue Orb and just like Omega’s it shines, followed by a massive dark blue flash from the pool of Water. Just like before the cave begins to rumble as the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon, Kyogre surfaces. Alpha then walks over to the player and tells them that no matter what they do they won’t be able to stop them, she then battles the player, putting up a powerful defence, Alpha proves to be quite difficult for the player however the player still defeats the Team Astral Boss. Alpha laughs and quickly jumps on Kyogre and the two disappear out of the cave, Archie then tells the player and Skyler they need to quickly head out of the cave. The trio do so and find themselves back on the sand bars of Route 128 where Steven left the player, they watch as Omega on Groudon and Alpha on Kyogre approach Sootopolis City, Archie then tells the player that there isn’t much time as the Weather begins to drastically change between intense heat and torrential rain. Archie tells the player to head to Sootopolis City as maybe they may be able to stop Team Astral from unlocking the full power of Groudon and Kyogre. Skyler tells the player that the player’s going to need all the assistance they can get and she’ll contact everyone she can. Skyler then heads off and Archie flies off on his Crobat towards Sootopolis, the player follows along and soon arrives in Sootopolis finding the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon, crushing the land in Sootopolis to get inside the Cave of Origin.
The player quickly heads over to the island where the Gym is in the middle of Sootopolis and is greeted by Steven and another individual. The second individual introduces himself as Juan the Sootopolis City Gym Leader; he quickly tells the player that Groudon and Kyogre were taken into the Cave of Origin by Alpha as Steven informs him. Suddenly all of Sootopolis begins to shake as a massive crystalline structure begins growing out the water to cover the cave. Steven tells the player that the structure is likely a defence mechanism by Groudon and Kyogre to stop Rayquaza getting to them. Steven then receives a message from Professor Birch who tells Steven to grab the player as well, Birch explains over the PokeNav that massive pillars if Crystal have been sighted jutting up all over Hoenn and he believes they’re linked to whatever is going on with Groudon and Kyogre. Birch then tells Steven and the player that they need to hurry and get to each Pillar, he tells the two that there are seven pillars that have been sighted with them being at; Shoal Cave, Mt. Pyre, Meteor Falls, Route 111 Desert, Granite Cave, Petalburg Woods & Littleroot Town, suddenly Professor Birch pauses and then tells the player and Steven that the pillars are being guarded by Team Astral, he then ends the call and Steven turns to the player. Steven tells the player that they’ll need to quickly take down each Pillar and orders the player to hop onto Steven’s Skarmory. The player does so and Juan tells Steven that he’ll keep an eye out for any more activity that occurs in Sootopolis, Steven thanks Juan and flies into the Sky, the player’s PokeNav suddenly starts ringing as Skyler calls the player, she explains that she’s gotten everyone she can to come help try and defeat Team Astral. Skyler tells the player and Steven that she’s in Littleroot Town and they should worry about the other Pillars first. Skyler then hangs up and Steven tells the player that they’ll head to Shoal Cave first; Skarmory then descends to the South Entrance of Shoal Cave and Steven pairs up with the player and the two head inside.
The player and Steven are quickly greeted by Reese who explains that he along with the children from the forest, the Shell Bell Man and a multitude of Swimmers have been fighting off the Team Astral Grunts, however the Crystal along with Commander Epsilon are deeper in the cave, Steven thanks Reese and tells him that they’ll need his help along the way. Reese accepts and joins the player and Steven as they descend into the depths of Shoal Cave.
The player, Steven and Reese descend deeper into the cave soon finding the top of the crystal where it had burrowed into Shoal Cave creating multiple levels beneath. The trio battle countless Team Astral Grunts on the way to the bottom of the cave and soon find Epsilon just as Reese had stated. Epsilon turns to see the player, Steven and Reese and tells Reese that she heard he was wiped out back when Delta and Theta tried to capture Regice, Reese contests that he’s gotten stronger and Epsilon laughs and orders a multitude of grunts to surround Steven and Reese and Epsilon approaches the player, she tells the player that they won’t be able to stop Groudon and Kyogre and begins her battle with the player. The player however proves to be too much for the Team Astral Commander who soon has to admit defeat, frustrated in her defeat Epsilon lets her guard down, Steven having defeated the grunts surrounding him, sends out his Metagross, Mega Evolves it and then orders it to destroy the crystal. Metagross obliges and begins breaking through the crystal rather rapidly, once fully broken, the shards all cease to glow the distinct shade of Cyan the trio saw it in when they arrived. Epsilon frustrated at her loss tells the player that she’d slowly been losing faith in the grand plan of Team Astral and that she sees the player will definitely be able to stop Team Astral, she tells Reese that she knows he won’t leave Shoal Cave until all Team Astral Grunts are dealt with and Epsilon commands all Team Astral Grunts to stand down and submit themselves to Reese. Reese then turns and thanks the player and Steven for destroying the first Crystal, telling them that the Mt. Pyre shouldn’t be too far away and that Tate & Liza should be there right now. Steven thanks Reese and quickly brings the player out of Shoal Cave and the two get back on Skarmory and fly over to Mt. Pyre.
The two land outside of Mt. Pyre and see the Crystal just poking out of the top of Mt. Pyre where it shines a bright shade of Magenta. The player and Steven quickly head inside and are greeted by Tate and Liza who explain that Team Astral has quickly set up a simultaneous lock combination and that there are four switches, Steven then tells Tate & Liza to head to the closest two they know the location of and Steven tells the player that they’ll split up for now to find the remaining switches. The player begins searching the graveyard mountain and finds one of the switches which Steven was already standing at, Steven tells the player he heard Professor Cozmo further along and has likely found the fourth switch. The player quickly hurries to find Professor Cozmo standing aside from Ajagara and Beta who are battling. Ajagara however is suddenly defeated and Beta laughs at Ajagara’s lack of strength stating that the Draconid people have lost the power that once made them the most feared group in the world. Ajagara and Professor Cozmo notice the player and ask the player to stop Beta, the player quickly rushes over and Beta smirks stating that she expected the player would show up and tells the player that she refuses to lose again. The player then battles the Lieutenant Commander and although her Pokemon are powerful, the player is still able to overcome them and much to Beta’s shock has to admit defeat. Beta then tells the player that she can’t stand being part of Team Astral anymore as she was exhausted of being beaten by the player so many times. She tells the player that she is done with Team Astral and orders all grunts to stand down allowing the player to activate the last switch along with Steven, Tate & Liza. The door opens and the four rush inside to find the Magenta Crystal, Steven sends out Metagross who begins hammering away at the crystal but to no avail; Beta then walks in and explains that each Crystal draws parallels with Pokemon Types and sends out her Banette, Mega Evolving it and having it phase into the crystal destroying it from the inside with a Shadow Ball.
Steven thanks Beta for giving up her criminal lifestyle for the greater good of Hoenn and the World, Beta tells Steven that there’s no time for him or the player to waste and tells them that there are still 5 Crystals that need to be destroyed, Steven agrees and rushes the player out of Mt. Pyre, they quickly take off over to the Route 111 Desert where they find a large Golden Crystal in the place of the ruins, the player and Steven are greeted by Wattson, Ramona & Pyrus who explain that they’ve teamed up with the Desert Trainers and Winstrate Family to reach the crystal, Steven and the player team up again and Ramona tells the two that she’ll help them as well.
The player, Steven and Ramona navigate their way around the complex path of Route 111’s desert and soon reach the Crystal where Phi stands awaiting them. Phi laughs at the fact the player and Steven are trying to stop Groudon and Kyogre and orders grunts to surround Ramona and Steven, Phi then approaches the player and tells them that he’s going to make a bet, if he loses then he will leave Team Astral however if the player loses, they have to hand over all their Pokemon. The two then battle and despite Phi’s initial confidence, the player defeats the Lieutenant Commander who tells the player that he put all his cards on the table but still lost and tells the player that he is honest to his word and orders all the Team Astral Grunts to stand down, Steven then approaches the pillar and looks at it very carefully, he then tells Ramona to have her Tropius Mega Evolve and destroy the pillar. Ramona does so and the Pillar quickly crumbles, Steven then tells Ramona to ensure that all the Team Astral Members on Route 111 are taken in as Wattson and Pyrus quickly arrive, telling Steven that they’ll make sure to help out. Steven thanks the trio and tells the player that they’ll head to Meteor Falls next, the two then fly back into the sky and Steven quickly explains that he noticed each Crystal feels like its type expressing how cold the room where the Cyan Crystal was and that the Golden Crystal felt rough, he tells the player that he suspects they’ll be able to figure out what the Crystal in Meteor Falls is pretty quickly.
The two then descend from the sky and arrive outside the North Entrance to Meteor Falls, heading inside they find even more Team Astral Grunts along with trainers from the nearby routes helping out. The player and Steven soon meet up with Glacia, Vermont and Roxanne who explain that they saw Gamma heading into the Northern sections of the cave. Steven tells the player that he knows there’s a secret exit out the far north of Meteor Falls and tells the player that he’ll go there to make sure Gamma doesn’t escape; Glacia tells Steven that she’ll tag along with him to make sure he isn’t overwhelmed. Steven thanks Glacia and the two head back out of the cave. Vermont and Roxanne tell the player that they’ll help the player to make sure they reach the crystal.
Temporary Teammate – Vermont - Lv55 File:291Shedinja.gif Lv55 Lv57*
The player along with the two Gym Leaders, Vermont and Roxanne progress their way through the snaking tunnels of Meteor Falls encountering a large amount of Team Astral Grunts throughout, they continue searching for the Crystal heading past the Draconid Settlement. They soon come across the mural of Hoenn and find a large hole in it; they head through and find the Crystal, a Dark shade of Indigo and Gamma admiring it. Gamma congratulates the player and the Gym Leaders on making it all the way to her; however she quickly calls upon a large group of Grunts that quickly surround all three individuals. The player, Roxanne and Vermont then quickly beat through each grunt until soon all are defeated. Shocked by the outcome, Gamma charges at the player straight into a battle without Roxanne or Vermont, despite Gamma’s initial advantage due to the surprise attack, the player is able to defeat her as she expresses her frustration in the player’s power, just then Steven and Glacia arrive and Gamma admits her defeat stating that there’s no way she can escape so many people. She then tells the player that she realises now that staying with Team Astral only limits her potential and she tells all the grunts to stand down as she’s finished with Team Astral. Steven then looks over the Crystal and tells the player to inspect the crystal, the player looks closely to see the crystal has a pattern that resembles scales, Steven notes this and asks the player what type of Pokemon are generally known for scales, the player responds with the Dragon-Type and Steven commends the player on their knowledge and asks Glacia to use her Mega Walrein to destroy the Crystal. Glacia agrees to Steven’s request and destroys the Crystal almost effortlessly. Steven then tells the player that there are still three more Crystals they need to destroy and they should head to Petalburg Woods next. Vermont, Roxanne and Glacia assure Steven and the player that they’ll make sure to clear out all the Team Astral Members in the cave as Steven and the player head out.
Steven then tells the player that they’re going to head to Petalburg Woods next explicating that he’s been told by Mr. Stone that a large group of Team Astral Grunts was sighted approaching the Woods through Rustboro City. Steven tags along with the player as they quickly run down Route 115 and through Rustboro City and onto Route 104 where they find Team Astral Grunts on guard to protect a Lime-Green Crystal protruding out of Petalburg Woods’ Canopy. The player and Steven charge through the grunts defeating each one in their way, soon reaching Petalburg Woods, entering they are quickly ambushed by more Team Astral Grunts, however the player and Steven quickly defeat the Grunts and are noticed by Trent, Cherron, Ariana & Mona who explain that they came to help out since Meteor Falls was already full of trainers. Steven tells the player to tag along with Ariana and Mona since Trent, Cherron and himself know a back passage to where the Crystal is likely located. The three head off and the player teams up with Ariana and Mona and begin battling their way through Petalburg Woods.
The three trainers soon find the Commander guarding the Lime-Green Crystal to be Theta. The player also notices Mr. Briney and Bainbridge knocked out against the Crystal, Ariana and Mona demand answers from Theta about the condition of Mr. Briney and Bainbridge to which Theta just smirks and laughs off their questions. He commends the player on making it so far and notices Steven, Trent and Cherron out of the corner of his eye and quickly calls for a large group of Guards to swarm all five trainers, the player is suddenly pulled into a Horde Battle against 20 Team Astral Grunts with a multitude of different Pokemon. Despite the frustrating challenge, the player overcomes the Grunts and walks over to Theta, surprised to see the player able to defeat so many Grunts in one battle accepts the player’s battle request and the Player and the Commander Battle again. The player however proves to be too powerful for the Commander who admits defeat and states that he has lost his loyalty to Team Astral and explains that he was only in it for the money and honestly doesn’t understand the appeal of trying to rule the world with force if it can be ruled with cunning. He then departs leaving The Player, Steven and the others to deal with the Crystal. The group rushes over to Bainbridge and Mr. Briney who had since recovered from their knockouts and explain that they’d tried to deal with Theta however were simply overwhelmed, Mr. Briney commends the player on being able to deal with so many grunts and then follow up by taking down the Commander.
Steven then asks Mr. Briney if he can describe the Crystal, to which Bainbridge quickly interrupts explaining that it had the feel of organic armour. Steven understanding this asks Bainbridge if his Wingull has since evolved, Bainbridge sends out his Pelipper to prove to Steven that it had, Steven congratulates Bainbridge and quickly hands Bainbridge a Key Stone as well as giving Bainbridge’s Pelipper a Pelipperite. Bainbridge surprised at these gifts ask what they’re for and Steven tells Bainbridge to just Mega Evolve his Pelipper and to destroy the Crystal, overcome by the sudden commands from Steven, Bainbridge quickly grabs the Key Stone and holds tightly against it causing Pelipper’s Mega Stone to cause it to Mega Evolve, Bainbridge then commands his Pelipper to destroy the Crystal to which Pelipper swoops at the Crystal and with one clean slice cuts through the Crystal causing it to shatter in the process. Steven then thanks Bainbridge and the other trainers for helping to stop Team Astral’s damage and tells the player that he believes Skyler is probably capable of handling whatever Team Astral throws at her and suggests they quickly head to Granite Cave for the sixth Crystal. Mr. Briney and Cherron approach Steven and tell him that they’ll make sure to clear out the woods of any remaining Team Astral Grunts, Steven thanks them both and quickly directs the player out of the Woods, they get on Steven’s Skarmory and quickly fly over to Dewford City and are met on arrival by Brawly who assesses the situation explaining that Delta had suddenly returned with a ship full of Team Astral Grunts and rammed into Granite Cave. Steven then asks Brawly to help them clear out Granite Cave to which Brawly quickly agrees explaining that he’d already had several Trainers head into Granite Cave and was about to head in himself.
The trio head into the cave to find numerous grunts located on the multitude of floors, in addition due to the ship ramming Granite Cave; the Player, Steven and Brawly all navigate not only through the cave floors but also through the ship. Soon the trio reach the bow of the ship after defeating countless Team Astral Grunts. They see Delta standing on the edge with 9 Grunts protecting him, he turns around and laughs seeing the player, Steven and Brawly stating that it had been a while since he’d seen Brawly and was curious to see if the trio could even reach him without fainting. The Grunts then form three lines each comprised of three Grunts. The player, Steven and Brawly approach each set of Grunts and defeat the grunts with their Pokemon, soon reaching Delta who rather surprised to see the player, Steven and Brawly reach him calls upon two more Grunts to aid him in a Triple Battle against the player, Steven and Brawly. The trio of the Player, Steven and Brawly however proves to be more powerful than Delta and the two Grunts could handle and admit defeat, Delta sad to see his plans completely obliterated by the trio begs for their mercy to which Steven tells Delta to leave Granite Cave and submit to the authorities in Dewford, Delta thanks Steven and quickly apologizes to the player and Brawly for causing so much trouble in the past. Steven then walks up to the Crystal as Delta and the Grunts leave. Steven analyses the Crystal and determines it is likely Rock-Type and asks Brawly to use his Mega Medicham against the Crystal. Brawly, a bit confused by this request obliges and the Crystal explodes after Medicham delivers a powerful punch. Steven then tells Steven to make sure all Grunts are caught and tells Brawly that he and the player are going to Littleroot Town to ensure the last Crystal is destroyed, Brawly thanks the two for all they’ve done and Steven and the Player head out of Granite Cave by the hole in the wall the Ship created.
The Player and Steven then head over to Oldale Town due to the numerous grunts in Littleroot Town. The duo then head down into Route 101 where Grunts await them in the tall grass, however the player and Steven quickly progress to Littleroot Town and are greeted by Brandon and May who explain that quite a few trainers from the nearby routes came to help out however they’re constantly having to go heal up in Oldale Town due to the sheer number of grunts. Steven then thanks Brandon and May for the news and asks if they know where Skyler is, May tells Steven that she saw Skyler marching towards the Crystal and the Lieutenant Commander, Lambda. The two trainers then rush up Route 101 to the Pokemon Center and Steven tells the player that he’ll take the East Route to the Crystal and the player loop around from the West. The player agrees and begins battling their way solely through the Grunts along the way finding their mother and Professor Birch who both heal the player’s Pokemon explaining that Skyler had been battling Lambda earlier. The player soon reaches Skyler and Lambda who had defeated Skyler, Steven quickly arrives as well and Lambda merely laughs at the Player and Steven’s arrival stating that they were never able to stop Groudon and Kyogre’s return and initiates a battle with the player while several grunts surround Steven. The player however proves simply too powerful for Lambda who refuses to admit defeat and flees stating that he will have the last laugh. Steven quickly finishes off the Grunts surrounding him and walks over to Skyler as does the player. Skyler wakes up and Steven looks at the Crystal and feels it stating that it feels soft and feathery, Steven then asks Skyler if she has her Magnezone, Skyler quickly sends out her Magnezone and has it Mega Evolve and shoot a bolt of lightning at the Crystal stating that she heard from Lambda that the Crystals could be destroyed by their Type Weakness and sure enough the Crystal bursts into tiny shards that rain down.
Steven then sighs with relief explaining to the player that they should now be able to access the Cave of Origin. The player’s Mother and Professor Birch rush over and Skyler quickly tells them not to worry as they’ll clear out Littleroot Town. Steven then tells the player to be prepared as they’re going to try to defeat Groudon and Kyogre without Rayquaza’s assistance, the player and Steven then get on Skarmory and fly off as Skyler, Birch and the player’s mother wave farewell. The player and Steven arrive in Sootopolis where they meet up with the Gym Leader of the City, Juan who explains that he’s been monitoring the crystal wall and believes it to now be weak enough to destroy, he sends out a Wailord and Mega Evolves it, the Float Whale lets loose a colossal wave crushing the wall and flooding the Cave of Origin, Steven then tells the player that they must hurry.
They both head into the small land still able to enter the Cave of Origin. The player and Steven find that within, Groudon and Kyogre have charged through various levels of the Cave of Origin, the player and Steven then venture down the ravaged pathways towards the bottom of the massive pit encountering numerous wild Pokemon that lurk within the Cave of Origin. Soon the duo reaches the bottom and come face to face with a massive stone bridge over a chasm where Lava and Water flow into. The player and Steven progress over the chasm soon catching up with Alpha and the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon, Alpha surprised to see the player and Steven expresses her content in their arrival stating that they will be the first to witness the earth shattering Power of Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, just as Alpha finishes her sentence she raises both the Red Orb and Blue Orb, Groudon and Kyogre then suddenly raise themselves up towards a massive crystal in the centre of the room. The Crystal glows both Red and Blue and places both Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon in Rock-Like Cocoons. Alpha then turns to face the player and Steven and calls for Zeta who quickly arrives from another exit to the cave. Zeta expresses his joy in being able to face the player and Steven amongst the two Legendries and the four engage in a Double Battle. Alpha and Zeta prove to be a powerful duo causing much difficulty for both the player and Steven; however the player and Steven end up being able to come out the victors of the battle. After the battle subsides, Zeta shocked in defeat tells Alpha that he can’t stand the numerous times he’s lost to the player and tells Alpha that she can do whatever she wants with the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon as Zeta believes that no matter what she does the player will stop her. Zeta then leaves and Alpha just laughs off his betrayal, she tells the player and Steven that Zeta couldn’t comprehend the purpose of their battle and she explains that she knew she couldn’t win against both the player and Steven even with Zeta’s help however was able to stall the two long enough for Groudon and Kyogre to revert to their Primal Forms. Just then the rock Cocoons behind Alpha begin to crack, Groudon’s jetting lava streams out of it while Kyogre’s jets water streams, they continue to crack until eventually the two Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon stand in their pools of Lava and Water respectively in their Primal Forms, Alpha tells the player and Steven that even now they won’t be able to stop the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon, just then both Legendary Pokemon begin to approach the crystal. They both lift themselves out of their respective liquids and use the crystal’s energy to let loose their abilities, during this time Steven tells the player that there’s no time left and they have to escape, Steven grabs the player and Alpha and quickly brings them both back to Sootopolis where they meet up with Juan who had also brought Wallace, Wally, Brendan, May & Skyler as a precaution against the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon, before Steven can ask anything, Wally points to the Cave of Origin and the player and Steven watch as two massive streams of light burst from the top of the cave and into the atmosphere, twisting around each other, one of red and one of blue. Just then Alpha recovers from her daze and states that something had gone terribly wrong, explaining that by now Groudon and Kyogre should’ve used up all their Primal Energy for one use, Steven tells Alpha that they may have used up all their Primal Energy but points out the two beams of light, explaining that they’re taking energy from the planet itself to power themselves, Skyler asks why they don’t battle each other to which Steven explains that with the sheer power each possesses in their Primal Forms, their ability to think is heavily suppressed and their main goal is to become more powerful than the other however Steven contests that by the time that happens, there won’t be any other life on the planet left. Steven then tells the player and Skyler to get to Sky Pillar on Route 131 and to try to awaken Rayquaza, Skyler understands Steven’s request and asks how they are to get into Sky Pillar, Steven turns to face Wallace who nods and tells Skyler that he will be able to open the entrance to Sky Pillar and tells the two trainers to meet him at Sky Pillar, Wallace then hops on his Milotic and dives into the ocean, Skyler quickly sends out her Skarmory and flies off leaving the player to head to Sky Pillar themselves. The player heads out of Sootopolis and onto the Oceanic Routes where they find the weather to be constantly changing causing intense sunlight and heavy rain, the player soon reaches Sky Pillar where they find Skyler and Wallace awaiting them, Wallace explains that there’s no time to waste and quickly opens up the entrance to Sky Pillar, Skyler teams up with the player to handle the wild Pokemon throughout the Pillar.
The duo soon reach the top of Sky Pillar to find it empty except for a lone individual standing in the centre of the Pillar, the player and Skyler approach the individual who turns around and is revealed to be Pamus, Skyler relieved to see one of the Draconids had come to summon Rayquaza please with Pamus to summon Rayquaza, however Pamus laughs and tells Skyler that she doesn’t understand the power that Rayquaza possesses. Skyler then tells Pamus about the catastrophe going on down at Sootopolis to which Pamus tells Skyler that he knew about the imminent disaster well before Team Astral had stolen the first Orb. Skyler confused asks Pamus what he means to which Pamus laughs again and asks Skyler if she remembers the bosses of Team Astral to which Skyler states how she could never forget, Alpha and Omega. Pamus then laughs again and asks the player if they encountered Omega in Sootopolis at all, the player responds with a no to which Pamus laughs and asks the player if they know why that is, the player only unable to respond in confusion leaves Pamus disappointed as he expresses his hopes that the player would show a potential beyond that of Team Astral and explains how he had known about all of Team Astral’s plans in advance, because he is Omega, jus then he tears away his cloak and reveals his uniform beneath to Skyler’s surprise. Skyler in complete shock asks Omega why he would want to destroy the planet if he’d been so loyal to Rayquaza all his life to which Omega laughs yet again explaining that after the incident 8 years ago between Rayquaza and Deoxys he lost faith in Rayquaza as it ignored the Draconid people’s plea for return, he explains that he will not summon Rayquaza and will prevent anyone else from doing the same, just then Lambda appears from behind one of the pillars atop the Sky Pillar and tells the player that they’d been eagerly awaiting another rematch and tell the player that they will not be able to withstand the incomprehensible power of their Pokemon, Skyler quickly turns to the player and tells the player to ready themselves as they go into battle against the Lieutenant Commander and Boss of Team Astral.
Through a ferocious battle, Lambda and Omega pose an overwhelming level of power and prove to be a serious battle for the player and Skyler, however the player and Skyler are able to overpower them both and in defeat Omega falls to his knees expressing his awe in the impossible strength of the player and Skyler’s Pokemon. Lambda however refuses defeat and quickly runs away vowing revenge against the player and Skyler, Omega completely shocked by this outcome expresses his frustration at the player and Skyler, yelling that he’d been brought up to believe in the power and protection that Rayquaza possesses however when not only the Draconid People needed Rayquaza but the whole planet needed Rayquaza it didn’t appear. Suddenly a voice from behind the player and Skyler tells Omega to not blame Rayquaza for its absence, the player and Skyler turn to see an young woman walk over to Omega, she lifts Omega back onto his feet and tells him that Rayquaza has always watched over the Draconid People and though Omega may believe the Draconid People are lost to time and separation they have kept together and always return to their settlement in Meteor Falls once a year to gift the wall of Rayquaza with offerings so that Rayquaza continues to ensure their safety, Omega then laughs and tells the young woman that she is mistaken and that she only believes this because she was able to summon Rayquaza when Deoxys was to destroy the planet, Skyler suddenly intrudes stating that she’d heard the rumours of the young woman’s involvement in the Deoxys’ Crisis but never knew she existed prior to now, Skyler looks at the player and sees confusion on the player’s face and explains that the woman standing before them and Omega is Zinnia a Master Draconid and the first modern Draconid to have summoned Rayquaza, Zinnia thanks Skyler for the explanation however tells Skyler that her reputation far exceeds her true self explaining that she was only able to summon Rayquaza and that it was through Brendan and May’s determination that Rayquaza reached its true potential.
Zinnia then turns back to Omega and tells him that Rayquaza hasn’t been able to be summoned yet because the desire of the summoner didn’t match the crisis and explains that if Omega really desires to summon Rayquaza he must believe that Rayquaza is the only way to prevent the disaster, Omega comes to clarity with this and thanks Zinnia telling her that he had tried countless times with the desire to see Rayquaza’s awesome power however without a crisis he didn’t have the necessity to summon Rayquaza properly, Zinnia then asks Omega if he believes that Rayquaza is the only one able to stop Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, Omega replies telling Zinnia that without control there is no other way to stop both Pokemon simultaneously, Zinnia then tells Omega to stand on the left side of the innermost circle on the top of the Sky Pillar while she stands on the right. They both grasp their Key Stones and pray for Rayquaza to appear. The clouds around Hoenn suddenly disappear as a faint light descends onto Sky Pillar, from the North of Sky Pillar; the player, Skyler, Zinnia and Omega watch as Rayquaza soars from the horizon letting out a roar and quickly arriving at Sky Pillar. Rayquaza descends to the centre of Sky Pillar and lets out a roar, Zinnia tells Omega that even with Rayquaza’s power to repel Groudon and Kyogre it will need to attain its Mega Evolution to supress their Primal Forms. Omega agrees and gives Rayquaza a handful of Crystals that he tells the player and Skyler are able to boost Rayquaza’s power, Rayquaza however does not Mega Evolve, suddenly Rayquaza roars at the player and Zinnia notices the meteorite on the player’s bag and explains that Rayquaza needed a Meteorite before to attain its Mega Evolution and has likely used up the energy from the first Meteorite and asks the player to give Rayquaza the Meteorite. The player does so and Rayquaza lets out a different frequency roar, Zinnia tells Omega that Rayquaza has seen whatever potential the player possesses and chosen them to bring Rayquaza to its maximum potential. Omega, slightly disappointed by this outcome accepts the reality of it and tells the player that they must capture Rayquaza as the player isn’t a Draconid. The player obliges and begins their battle against Rayquaza.
The player catches Rayquaza and Zinnia and Omega tell the player that Rayquaza will need to battle Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre at the same time however will not accept weakness from the player’s Pokemon and explains that the player can only bring one other Pokemon with Rayquaza. The player decides which Pokemon to bring and brings out Rayquaza from its Pokeball, Rayquaza looks at the player and performs Dragon Ascent causing it to Mega Evolve into Mega Rayquaza, the player then gets on Mega Rayquaza and Skyler, Zinnia and Omega wish the player good luck and tell the player to believe in their Pokemon’s capabilities. Mega Rayquaza then jets towards the Cave of Origin where the two beams of light are still jetting out, Rayquaza nose dives into the Cave of Origin and charges straight into the crystal causing it to explode, making the beams of light cease. Mega Rayquaza then flies out the front entrance of the Cave of Origin and finds Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre on top of the rock of Sootopolis City, Mega Rayquaza roars and draws their attention and initiates the battle between the player and Mega Rayquaza against the Primal Legendary Pokemon.
The player commands Mega Rayquaza and their other Pokemon to fight the Primal Legendary Pokemon and eventually is able to overpower them as Pokeballs are completely ineffective against them both. After the battle, Groudon and Kyogre concede defeat and revert back to their regular forms, unable to overpower Rayquaza they both use their powers to reconstruct the damage done to the Cave of Origin, they both then return to their locations of rest and are resealed by Rayquaza’s Roar. Rayquaza then returns the player to Sky Pillar and the player regains their team. Omega walks over to the player and apologizes for being so concerned with his own beliefs that he didn’t comprehend the requirements for Rayquaza to be summoned. Just then a man in a brown Trenchcoat arrives and introduces himself, however before he tells the player his name he pauses and tells the player to refer to him as Looker. He explains that he is part of the international police and after the player had been destroying the crystals, the international police moved in to capture as many Grunts as possible, he explains that they were unable to capture Alpha and will endeavour to find her again however they request Omega accept his arrest to which Omega apologizes to the player, Skyler and Zinnia for being misguided and accepts his arrest. Looker then calls up several guards to take Omega away, Looker then walks over to Zinnia and apologizes for having to interfere with Draconid affairs however expresses his desperation in needing Team Astral stopped, Zinnia understanding Looker’s plight, thanks Looker and tells him to tell the international Police that the situation was only a Draconid affair between Omega and Rayquaza and that Team Astral has committed heinous crimes. Zinnia then heads off allowing Looker to speak to the player and Skyler, he apologizes for them getting wrapped up in the situation and that had the international police been able to track down Alpha and Omega sooner than the near catastrophic events that unfolded would’ve never occurred. Looker then departs leaving the player and Skyler atop Sky Pillar, Skyler tells the player that she knows now that the player has dealt with numerous legendary Pokemon and fought an almost endless barrage from Team Astral that she may never be able to contest against the player, she does state however that it won’t deter her from trying to defeat the player, she then heads off allowing the player to depart Sky Pillar.
The player returns to Sootopolis City where Steven greets the player, he thanks the player for saving all of Hoenn and then pauses and restates his thanks and instead thanks the player for saving the whole world from the disaster that would’ve been caused by Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. He explains to the player that while it will take time for the people of Hoenn to recover from the damage done, it will soon return to normal. Steven then tells the player that unfortunately Juan has gone into the Cave of Origin to permanently dispose of the Red Orb and Blue Orb as with the Draconid People now willing to help they’ll be able to more easily summon Rayquaza. Steven then tells the player they should go check that Juan is alright; the player does so and heads into the Cave of Origin once more to find Juan. The player descends the reconstructed levels of the Cave of Origin and soon reaches the stone bridge at the bottom, passing by the player finds Juan standing at the pools for Groudon and Kyogre, the player approaches Juan who thanks the player for helping restore peace to Hoenn and protecting the world. He explains that the Red Orb and Blue Orb had caused so much destruction in the past that they had been deemed too dangerous and were to be destroyed, Juan then turns to the player and asks the player if they understand how the orbs work, the player responds and Juan explains that the Orbs are comprised of two components an outer shell that controls Groudon and Kyogre and an inner core that allows them to activate their Primal Reversion. Juan explains that he knows the player possesses great potential and is eager to see the player in battle and tells the player that he believes they are strong enough to possess the power of Primal Reversion with the knowledge of its true danger. Juan then places the two orbs on a stone altar and brings out a chisel and hammer; he then strikes both orbs causing them to crack perfectly in two. He then takes the shells and throws them in the lava of Groudon’s Pit and the player and Juan watch as the shells slowly sink into the Lava. Juan then walks over to the player and hands them the Omega Core and Alpha Core explaining that they will allow the player to Primal Revert Groudon and Kyogre should the player ever encounter them again. Juan then heads to the exit and tells the player that he eagerly awaits the player’s battle at the gym.
The player heads out as well and heads into the Sootopolis City Gym to battle their last Gym Leader, upon entering the Gym the player finds that it is comprised of a massive Spiral Mountain with Discs located on each level. The player walks over to the Gym Guide who informs the player that Juan uses Water Types a common sight in Hoenn so the player should expect any sort of Water-Type and to not solely rely on Water-Type’s weaknesses. He then explains that the Gym has floating discs that each Ice atop them. He continues, stating that the player will need to not only slide along the Ice Mazes to get through each disc, but to figure out the correct order the Discs are accessed in to reach Juan. The Gym Guide then directs the player’s attention to a control panel near the Spiral Mountain and explains that the player can adjust what order the Discs for that level are in. The player then heads over to the control panel and begins adjusting the discs accordingly, surpassing the first level’s 6 discs, then the second level’s 12 discs, the third level’s 20 discs and finally the fourth level’s 24 discs along the way battling the trainers guarding Juan, in addition to the Ice and Discs the player has to on the higher levels make use of Caves inside the Spiral Mountain as well as go forwards and backwards from disc to disc to reach Juan. The player eventually reaches Juan at the top of the Spiral Mountain, Juan congratulates the player on solving his tricky maze of discs and explains that he had recently returned to the role as Gym Leader of Sootopolis after his apprentice, Wallace resigned, Juan explains that Wallace went on to become the Champion of Hoenn, surpassing Steven who desired to seek stronger opponents, however Wallace lost interest in Pokemon Battling and handed the reigns down to another trainer. Juan explains that he is Wallace’s Master in the art of Pokemon Training and is disappointed to see Wallace give up such an expression of himself although states that he still sees the passion and technique Wallace was taught by Juan in Wallace’s Contests. Juan tells the player that if they hope to defeat him, they best understand the art of Pokemon Battling.
The player engages in their final Gym Battle against Juan, who uses powerful Water-Type Pokemon, some of which resist the Grass-Type and/or Electric-Type. The player and Juan battle fiercely however the player soon overcomes the Gym Leader and claims victory over Juan and secures their final Gym Battle. Juan despite being defeated is elated for the player, telling them that the player battled with such grace and harmony with their Pokemon and that he doesn’t care that he lost and is happier to see the player’s Pokemon in battle. He then hands the player their eighth and final Gym badge, the Rain Badge explaining that with the Badge, the player will be able to scale mighty Waterfalls such as the one at Ever Grande City as well as all Pokemon being loyal to the player if they have the Pokemon’s Pokeball. Wallace notices the HM for Waterfall in the player’s bag and tells the player that they’re definitely ready to face the final trials of the Pokemon League, Cloud Command, explaining that the move deals Physical Damage based on the opponent’s Special Defence and is doubly as powerful when it’s raining. A large slide then juts out of the Spiral Mountain and water begins jetting out of the top to allow the player to slide their way back down. The player heads to the bottom of the Gym and heads out, the player is suddenly run into by Skyler who greets the player explaining that she was actually on her way to go challenge Juan just as the player had exited and tells the player not to wait up for her as once she has her last gym badge she will battle the player again, the player then stands aside and lets Skyler into the Gym. The player then heads out into the Oceanic Routes once more and into Route 150 surfing up the massive waterfalls that stand between them and Ever Grande City, after climbing 8 Waterfalls the player reaches Ever Grande City to find several houses and a Pokemon Center located at the top, upon reaching the centre of Ever Grande City, a multitude of people come rushing out of the houses to greet the player, completely swarming the player preventing them from progressing, the people thank the player for stopping Groudon and Kyogre however are silenced by four individuals who stand at the top of Ever Grande City in front of the entrance to Victory Road. The crowd surprised to see the individuals quickly scatter, returning to their houses. The four individuals approach the player and introduce themselves as Mosahn, Sidney, Phoebe and Drake explaining that like the player they are powerful trainers who seek to become ever stronger. Sidney walks up to the player first explaining that he trained across the ravaged fields of Johto before returning to Hoenn and explains that he learnt a lot from the destructive Pokemon that live in the region, he then hands the player the Black Glasses explaining that they are able to boost the wicked power of Dark-Type attacks. Phoebe then approaches second telling the player that she’s trained in Hoenn all her life and it was through the training that she truly learnt the essence of Hoenn as a tropical region, she then hands the player the Spell Tag explaining that it enhances the haunting power of Ghost-Type attacks. Mosahn then walks over to the player and explains that he had only realized his true potential in Hoenn recently although is a fierce trainer who originally live in the Sinnoh Region’s off-shore Battle Island where trainers had to be tough to survive, it was through this endurance, he explains that his Pokemon developed powerful battling techniques. Mosahn then gives the player the Soft Sand item, explaining that is can enhance the destructive capabilities of Ground-Type attacks. Finally, Drake approaches the player and explains that he has trained for a long time and explains to the player that he had battled against the powerful Draconids in the past and used their own type against them, he explains that when using Pokemon you have to be always aware of your opponent’s team and swap out accordingly to ensure you aren’t overwhelmed, Drake then hands the player a Dragon Fang explaining that giving it to a Pokemon will help make their Dragon-Type attacks more deadly. The four individuals then tell the player that they’ll be watching the player’s progress through Victory Road and await the player’s completion of the Pokemon League’s second trial.
Mosahn, Sidney, Phoebe and Drake then head off into the cave to allow the player to wander around Ever Grande City to prepare for Victory Road. The player then heads into Victory Road to find a massive cavern filled with numerous floors, the player journeys through the first floor fighting against powerful trainers also hoping to reach the Pokemon League. The player soon finds a ladder leading down to the B1F Floor and finds a very dark room, unable to progress without Flash Blank the player lights up the room to find it full of quick sand and chasms, along the way through this level the player runs into Mosahn who tells the player that Victory Road represents the type of foes the player will face at the Pokemon League and explains that in addition to the Champion there is also the Elite Four, a group of trainers who have surpassed the trials of the Pokemon League before. Mosahn then tells the player that the other three will be waiting for the player on other levels and hands the player Cameruptite explaining that it will help the player if they have a Camerupt. The player continues on through the dark B1F floor and soon finds a ladder going further down, the player descends the ladder into B2F.
As the player navigates through B2F they see massive Chasms that cause navigation to be difficult, in addition they begin to see Water flowing throughout the Cavern, soon the player reaches a raised bridge and sees Sidney on the other side, Sidney laughs and tells the player that sometimes they just have to accept help from others and lowers the bridge for the player, he explains that when he was younger Sidney believed he didn't need anyone's help and would be able to go anywhere without any difficulty, however one day he was wandering the jungles of Route 119 and got caught up in a massive Thunderstorm, he sought shelter in a Secret Base owned by a Pokemon Ranger called Aarune, he explains that he had to accept help from Aarune to survive through the Thunderstorm and that after that he and Aarune became good friends and he helped Aarune protect Pokemon in their natural habitat and in return Aarune helped him train, he explains that he heard Aarune speak great things about the player when Groudon and Kyogre were rampaging across Hoenn and explains that he will await the player's arrival at the Pokemon League, he then hands the player an Absolite explaining that even Dark-Type Pokemon have the potential to be great.
Sidney then heads off allowing the player to navigate the dark depths of B2F, soon the player finds a ladder leading up to B1F where the player continues through the Sandy depths of the level where he met up with Mosahn and soon reaches another Ladder leading to 1F where the player started. After battling through even more Trainers hoping to reach the Pokemon League, the player soon finds another Ladder leading up to 2F where the player finds the floor is covered in a low lying mist, along the way the player has to push boulders around to destroy obstacles and clear out and open pathways at the same time, switching between 1F and 2F through a multitude of ladders, soon the player finds a Ladder leading to 3F however before they can climb the ladder, Phoebe shows up and greets the player explaining that she's glad the player had made it so far and encourages the player to not give up despite the challenges that they will face, she explains that she always thought it was odd that the Pokemon League Committees always chose to hold their trials with a Cavern and a Waterfall, she continues stating that she believes that Hoenn would be better suited for a Volcanic and Oceanic themed set of trials however she tells the player that she believes that this would cause an imbalance in the requirements of the challenges. She then tells the player that regardless the player will be able to overcome even the most complex challenges, she then hands the player a Gengarite explaining that the power within Mega Stones has only recently become properly realized and she hopes it leads to great potential between trainers and their Pokemon.
Phoebe then heads off allowing the player to continue onward up the ladder to 3F, up on 3F the player finds that there are massive statues that stand up against crashing waterfalls, the player uses their Pokemon to ascend these waterfalls until they reach a peculiar circular island, on it the player sees Drake, awaiting the player’s arrival. Drake greets the player, sternly stating that he expected the player to show up soon, he explains that the Pokemon League always sets up trials in regions with Gym Leaders being ways to help trainers grow as individuals while the league itself is the real test. Drake continues, stating that the Pokemon League will test the player’s skills in battle, he then hands the player two Mega Stones; Salamencite & Flygonite explaining that the destructive power of Dragon-Type Pokemon is often comparable to that of Legendary Pokemon and that the player should be wary of any they come across. Drake then heads off and tells the player he’ll be awaiting the player’s arrival at the Pokemon League. The player continues searching through 3F of Victory Road and soon comes across a Ladder leading up to 4F after scaling a massive Waterfall. The player climbs the ladder and finds themselves in an open room with massive Trees sprouted out of the ground with light filtering in from an open ceiling. The player sees Wally standing in the centre of the trees and as the player walks over to him, Wally greets the player explaining how he thought he’d see the player again soon, he explains that he remembers years ago battling Brendan and May in the exact location, however back then the trees had not grown. He explains that the player will have met a lot of people on their journey but it’s always the rivals that stay closest to them, Wally then tells the player that he has to head off and meet up with Steven and wishes the player the best of luck at the Pokemon League. Wally then exits Victory Road through an opening at the North end of the floor. The player attempts to follow however is stopped by a familiar voice, Skyler suddenly appears telling the player that she was determined to face the player once more before they go to face the Pokemon League, she states that she’s ready to face the player one last time and tells the player that this time she’s serious and that whoever wins this battle will be able to go challenge the Pokemon League.
Skyler starts the battle against the player and through a fierce rivalry the battle ensues. Skyler uses a powerful set of Pokemon with a multitude of moves and even has her starter Mega Evolve instead of Magnezone, the player however proves to simply be too powerful for her to defeat, after the battle subsides she congratulates the player explaining that Victory Road is often where Rivals face off before challenging the League and hands the player a Magnezonite explaining that she believes in the power of her Magnezone and knows that it will perform just as well in battle without its Mega Stone. Skyler then heads off back into Victory Road, allowing the player to continue and head out to the Pokemon League. The player passes through 8 gates each one opening from the player’s badges. The player soon arrives at a massive building with a sign indicating it to be the Pokemon League.
The player heads into the giant, palace-esque building to find that within are numerous trainers preparing to face the Elite Four, the player heads over to the doorway at the other end of the long corridor where a pair of Ace Trainers stand guard, they explain that they must ensure the player has collected the eight badges of Hoenn and check the player’s badge case, after confirming the badges they allow the player to pass into the chamber ahead, telling the player to stay strong and not give up.
The player heads inside and finds a massively open area where sand is filtering down from the ceiling with a giant pyramid in the middle. Suddenly the room rumbles and the middle of the room leading up to the Pyramid disappears causing the sand to flow down below, then a bridge shoots out from each end, connecting in the middle, the player walks along the bridge to a doorway into the pyramid. Inside the Pyramid the player finds themselves in a Golden Room with sand around the corners and numerous faintly glowing lights decorating the room. In the centre of the room the player sees Mosahn awaiting the player’s arrival. He greets the player and explains that he had been eagerly awaiting the player’s arrival and explains that a few years ago he was accepted into the Pokemon League due to his experience in the dry, Ground-Type Pokemon a contrast to most of Hoenn, he explains that his team will leave the player without a breathe of air left. The two then begin their battle, Mosahn’s team revolving around Sunlight attempts to annihilate the player’s team with moves like Sunny Day, Fire Blast & Solarbeam in addition to numerous Ground-Type moves to test the player. However despite the Elite Four member’s best attempts at using weather against the player, the player soon overcomes Mosahn and defeats him. After the battle, Mosahn expresses how dazzled he was at the player’s team and that such force was surely to help the player in with the other Elite Four, Mosahn then tells the player to proceed with courage as each member of the Elite Four is stronger than the last.
The player continues onwards into the next chamber where the player finds an eerie dome building at the top of a long lift, the player hops in the carriage for the lift and is whisked up the pathway, along the way, thunderous booms are heard in the distance while lightning lights up the chasm below the lift. Soon the player reaches the top as the doors to the dome building open up with no light within. The player heads inside and finds the room pitch-black, suddenly a light shines down on the player and a set of dark red lights along the walls light up as though they are eyes, a light then shines down on Sidney who is seated in the middle of the room, the rest of the room is given a soft light revealing two massive chasms in the room. The player walks over to Sidney who asks the player if they are truly really ready to face an opponent such as himself, the player responds and Sidney smirks telling the player that just because they’d stopped the Super-Ancient Legendary Pokemon, Groudon and Kyogre that didn’t mean he was going to go easy on them. He explains that the Dark-Type is a mysterious group of Pokemon and if the player fights with the wrong Pokemon they will quickly be defeated, Sidney then begins the battle asking the player if they can understand the force behind the Dark-Type. The player and Sidney then battle in the darkened room, Sidney’s Dark-Type Pokemon proving to be a complex group including numerous secondary types making it difficult to work around each one, in addition each of Sidney’s Pokemon know a variety of different attacks, capable of covering their weaknesses. However despite the ferocious tactics of Sidney’s Pokemon, the player is able to defeat the second Elite Four Member and continue onwards. Sidney congratulates the player for a marvellous battle and explains that each Elite Four Member intends to test the player on their knowledge and ability to deal with each situation and that by the time the player reaches the Champion they will have been tested on every concept behind a Pokemon Battle. The player then heads through the door leading to the next chamber.
The player heads into the next room where they find another lift, with two rivers following down from the sides of the lift’s rail, along the bodies of water are numerous lily flowers floating gently down the rivers. As the player hops into the lift carriage, all the lilies abruptly burst into flames and wither away into the river, the river turns a murky black colour as the player’s carriage slowly approaches the house at the other end. The player heads inside the house and finds the entire room to be upside-down with most of the furniture on the ceiling while Phoebe was awaiting the player next to a chandelier, the player approaches the Elite Four Member who tells the player that she’s glad they weren’t defeated by Mosahn or Sidney as it means she has a chance to defeat the player. She tells the player that she is a master of the Ghost-Type and the player will need to be able to work around her team and their mastery of items. Phoebe and the player then begin their battle and just as Phoebe said prior to the battle, her Pokemon make use of a multitude of items as well as moves that are affected by items. In addition her Ghost-Type Pokemon prove to be a difficult fight due to their immunities, however the player is able to surpass the Elite Four Member’s tricky team and win their third battle in a row. Phoebe despite being defeated congratulates the player telling them that they’ve passed the half-way point and that there’s now only two people the player must defeat to claim victory. She tells the player that if they have a rematch she’ll make sure she doesn’t lose.
The player continues onwards into the next chamber where massive draconic statues rest against the walls while gold, silver and numerous precious stones lay on the ground below, another lift rail at the top however is a large cavernous structure with two large pillars jutting out of it. The player heads into the lift carriage and heads up the railing, as they head up each statue bows to the player. The player soon reaches the top of the lift rail and heads into the cave entrance. Inside the player finds two massive fires, one with a red flame and the other with a blue flame, in the centre of the cave room is Drake in the middle of a shallow pool of crystal blue water. The player walks over to Drake who tells the player that he is not only the player’s last challenge between the start of the player’s journey and the Champion but also the strongest opponent the player will face, Drake expresses how in his youth he not only trained with the mighty Dragon-Type Pokemon but also with the Draconid people, he explains that while he doesn’t have as deep a connection to Dragon-Types, in particular Rayquaza as the Draconids do he still respects the Dragon-Type for its power in defence and offense. He tells the player that this battle will test the strength and endurance of the player’s Pokemon and if they cannot handle the force against them then there is no hope for the player to face the Champion. Drake then begins his battle with the player and his monstrous power stemming from his Dragon-Types proves to be a powerful force against the player, not only testing the player’s endurance but also using the tactics of the other Elite Four members by controlling the weather, using items to his advantage and having a diverse team, Drake proves to be the toughest of the Elite Four, however the player is able to defeat Drake and secure his fourth victory over the Elite Four. Drake, completely stunned by his defeat tells the player that he did not expect the player to be able to handle the fight as well as they did and commends the player for their determination, he grants the player access to the final chamber and tells the player that the Champion awaits the player’s arrival.
The player enters the final chamber, a long stone corridor with a red carpet leads to the doorway to the final room, along the pathway light from tinted glass windows filters in for each of the 18 Types. The player approaches the doorway at the other end of the corridor and heads inside. Inside the player finds a massive Golden Circle with a red curtain surrounding it, the player walks up the small set of stairs to the curtain and the curtain raises itself to reveal Wally awaiting the player in the centre of the circle. The player walks over and Wally tells the player that he knew the player would eventually reach him and explains that ever since they first met he could see an impossible potential within the player, one that he himself had only acquired through monumental amounts of training. Suddenly the entire room begins to rumble and the Golden circle begins rising up, going all the way to the open ceiling. The golden circle soon reaches the top and the player and Wally find themselves in a massive arena with large golden arches at the top. Wally then tells the player that it is here that the player’s true potential will be unlocked, Wally then asks for the player’s Key Stone, the player accepts Wally’s request and hands Wally the Key Stone, Wally takes the Key Stone over to a large Crystal Shard at his end of the arena, he places the Key Stone in the Crystal Shard and the two react, Wally explains that Key Stones quickly adapt to the user of each Key Stone and identify the potential of the user. He explains that should a person be powerful enough they can achieve something even more powerful than Mega Evolution, Supreme Evolution. Wally explains that certain Pokemon have been known to reach this stage and it is through Crystal Shards like the one at the top of the Hoenn Pokemon League that Key Stones can unlock this power. Wally brings the player’s Key Stone back which had changed shape to an Octahedron shape; Wally explains that only a few Pokemon are currently known to possess the power to Supreme Evolve with only Pokemon like the Hoenn Starters, Crobat, Gardevoir, Gallade & Manectric known to Supreme Evolve in Hoenn. Wally then tells the player that the player better be ready for the battle ahead and the two engage in battle atop the Pokemon League. Wally and the Player battle out between their powerful teams and while the player proves to be a powerful opponent for Wally, he keeps his secret Pokemon hidden until last. The player soon reaches Wally’s signature Pokemon, Gallade which Wally uses to display the power of Supreme Evolution by having it Mega Evolve and then Supreme Evolve while using Detect to avoid initial damage from the player. Supreme Gallade proves to be a powerful Pokemon with three Types unlike most Pokemon. The player however proves to have an overwhelming force behind their own Pokemon and defeats Wally through tactics and power. After being defeated Wally congratulates the player and tells them that they are the new Pokemon Champion, Wally then presses a small button next to his Key Stone and a second circle rises up and attaches to the arena where the player and Wally battled, the two head over to the smaller circle where a machine with six Pokeball slots stands. Wally explains that the machine will indoctrinate the player’s Pokemon into the Hall of Fame announcing them as the newest Champions of Hoenn.
The player places their Pokemon into the Machine and it registers the player’s Pokemon into the Hall of Fame, however just as the player places their last one into the machine, several blasts hit the arena causing the machine to go into lockdown locking the player’s Pokemon into the machine. Suddenly Lambda appears rising up from a Salamence he is standing atop. He explains that he has unlocked the true power of Supreme Evolution and even the Champion Wally and the player won’t be able to stop him. He tells them that no force even the mighty Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre or Mega Rayquaza can stop the force he possesses, suddenly the entire sky goes dark and it starts raining asteroids, Lambda lets out a maniacal laugh stating that he will bring about the end of the world regardless of the Player or Wally’s efforts. The Salamence then ascends into the sky and flies ever higher. Wally quickly panics telling the player that Lambda has gone too high for most Pokemon and only Rayquaza can reach him, Wally then rushes back to the Hall of Fame Machine and puts the player’s Key Stone in the lock, he then instructs the player to place their hand on the sphere at the top of the Hall of Fame Machine, telling the player that the machine doubles as a PC in times of crisis. The player does as Wally instructs him to and suddenly Rayquaza’s Pokeball appears from within the sphere and the sphere opens to allow the player to take the Pokeball. Steven suddenly appears on his Mega Metagross and tells the player that Lambda had summoned the creature within the shard found near Mossdeep and tells the player to hop on the Mega Metagross as he’ll explain as they ascend into the skies above. The player gets on Mega Metagross and the Pokemon speeds upwards towards the Salamence, Steven explains that the shard contained a Space Virus that manifests itself into a Pokemon called Deoxys and that for as long as Steven and the Scientists of Hoenn assumed, all Deoxys were contained however he didn’t anticipate another to appear. Suddenly Lambda sees the player and Steven gaining on him and he throws twenty Pokeballs out summoning a multitude of Pokemon to fight the player and Steven in the low gravity. Steven tells the player to send out Rayquaza to battle the Pokemon; he tells the player that Rayquaza’s Mega Evolution can quickly handle the Pokemon.
Mega Rayquaza destroys the Pokemon causing them to revert back into their Pokeballs. Steven suddenly realising the danger the Pokemon are put in turns Mega Metagross around however sees Maxie and Archie riding their Crobats catching the Pokeballs, the two Bosses of Team Magma and Team Aqua catch up to the player and Steven and explain that Deoxys was sighted in space meaning that the player will need their Deep Sea Diving Suit upgraded, luckily they explain that the suit just needs a piece of equipment modified, Maxie gets straight to the suit and begins changing the particular piece of equipment for Space while Archie tells the player that what Lambda plans to do with Deoxys will simply be too powerful for Mega Rayquaza and Rayquaza must unlock its hidden energy, Archie then tells the player to give Rayquaza the Emerald Orb explaining that like, Groudon and Kyogre it will allow Rayquaza to Primal Revert however this will occur after its Mega Evolution as it keeps control in its Primal Form unlike Groudon and Kyogre. The player gives their Rayquaza the Emerald Orb and Maxie finishes upgrading the player’s suit, the player then sends out Rayquaza and jumps from Mega Metagross to Rayquaza and Steven tells the player that they must stop Lambda and Deoxys, the player then Mega Evolves Rayquaza allowing it to fully heal as the two travel into space.
The two soon catch up with Lambda and see Deoxys has created an Oxygen Bubble to keep regular Pokemon safe. Lambda laughs at the player telling them that they won’t be able to stop Deoxys and that it’s simply too powerful for Rayquaza, he then offers the player one last chance to return to the surface however the player denies Lambda’s offer who scolds the player telling them that they’re stubborn for wasting their life on such a fruitless attempt. Lambda then charges into battle against the player. Lambda uses his powerful Pokemon in an attempt to defeat the player and Rayquaza however the player able to destroy Lambda’s team. Stunned by the outcome, Lambda seeks Deoxys for help and calls upon the Alien Pokemon, he activates his Key Stone and causes Deoxys to Mega Evolve, he then states that even in this form Deoxys is not powerful enough to defeat Rayquaza and has Deoxys Supreme Evolve into Supreme Deoxys. Deoxys begins radiating a Pink-Purple Light from its body that appears to cause the surrounding space to distort, Lambda then laughs maniacally telling the player that there’s no way for them to stop Deoxys’ enormous power anymore, the Asteroids begin to intensify and Deoxys turns to Lambda, it then flicks one Tentacle in Lambda’s general direction causing him and his Salamence to hurtle back down towards the Hoenn Region, it then turns to Mega Rayquaza and flicks a tentacle at the Legendary Pokemon, however Rayquaza resists the force and reacts with the Emerald Orb causing it to Primal Revert into Mega Primal Rayquaza. Mega Primal Rayquaza then lets out an intense roar which causes the Oxygen Bubble to ripple and then burst, causing the Oxygen to quickly dissipate. In the absolute silence, the two Legendary Pokemon charge at one another for their battle, the player controlling Mega Primal Rayquaza while Supreme Deoxys had gone absolutely berserk (Note: Deoxys can be caught in this battle, if not caught, Deoxys can later be encountered Comet Cave after defeating the Pokemon League again.
After an intense Battle, the berserk Deoxys is calmed by the player and Mega Primal Rayquaza. Rayquaza then brings the player back to the top of the Pokemon League where the player sees Wally, Steven, Archie, Maxie, Brendan, May, Skyler, Professor Birch and the Player’s Mother awaiting them. Steven thanks the player telling them that Hoenn already owed the player for saving them from Groudon and Kyogre but now the entire world is in the player’s gratitude for stopping the force of Deoxys’ rage. Looker then suddenly appears and congratulates the player telling them that he had Secret Police on the waters of Hoenn keeping an eye on Lambda’s descent and caught him near Mossdeep City. Wally then asks player if they’re ready to become the new Champion, the player responds and Wally brings the player back over to the Hall of Fame Machine and hands them their Pokemon, explaining that with Steven’s help he was able to override the safety mechanism on the machine. The player then places their Pokemon in the Hall of Fame Machine once more and the screen fades to black as the credits roll.
