Pikachu returns yet again to the Super Smash Bros. franchise in Super Smash Bros 5. Its moves remains mostly the same from the last game with minor changes. Aesthetically it looks like it did in Smash 4 but in a slightly paler yellow.
Changes from SSB4
Side smash does slightly more damage
Forward Aerial does more knockback
Specials and Final Smash
Fires a jolt of electricity forward which bounces along the ground, and can also travel up walls, below the edge, and along ceilings. If used in the air, it will travel diagonally down instead. Disappears after a few seconds.
Thunderbolt – Fires a bolt of electricity which flies across the screen instead of along the ground.
Charges and, when the button is released, fires itself forward like a missile. This move can also be used as a horizontal recovery move.
Shocking Skull Bash - Hits multiple times as it moves forwards, with the last hit launching the opponent. Doesn’t go as far however.
Moves at high speeds in two directions that can be selected via the directions you hold. The second warp is optional, but if used, the direction must be at least 45 degrees different than the first direction to work.
Meteor Quick Attack - Each warp travels less distance, but has a meteor effect on foes in the air.
Causes a large thunderbolt to come down on itself. The shockwave created around Pikachu when it hit it does very high damage and knockback.
Discharge – Instead of bringing a thunderbolt down from the sky shoots lightning out around itself. This move does less damage however.
Pikachu transforms into a ball of lightning and can fly around the stage and create shockwaves.
