Competitive Uses[]

This is only in theory and based on a more board perspective, instead of just VGC or Smogon.

Periculux's access of Strength Sap and huge Special Defense allows it to adapt in any team as a wall, but at the risk of being attacked by Poison-type STAB.

Does to its newfound Speed, Periculux can exploit the move Strength Sap in order to slowly weaken Physical Attackers, especially Kyodaiyama and Mega or non-Mega Tsareena, to also quickly recover its lost HP. With that said, spamming it will make the move less effective, and the Attack decreasement can also activate Defiant and Competitive, which can backfire very badly if used against the likes of Bisharp.

Despite the move above, Leech Seed or Giga Drain being on its arsonal, its base Defense of 60 is not that impressive, even if it is an improvement over Shiinotic. Its base HP is also 80, and thus would not be likely to survive a physical Super Effectvie hit, epsecially Poison-type physical attacks (and eventually special attacks), if Periculux didn't used Sap Strength beforehand.

With that said, Steel-type Pokémon must be prepared to face it without being endangered. Periculux's Signature Ability, Deadly Light, allow to boost Light-type Moves' Base Power as if they were STAB, and also ignore the defensive perks such as increased Defense and Special Defense. Since Light-type hit neutrally against Steel-type (with only Ferrothorn can switch in safely does to its Grass-type), a boost from Nasty Plot can severely damage most Steel-type.

It can also use Power Gem to counter against Flying-type, but the boosted Light-type attacks may be too good to pass for the third attack slot.

With Nasty Plot, it can suddenly become a bulky Special sweeper, especially in Trick Room. This can easily defeat Mega Aggron and Mega Crystalix after one shot of Light Cannon and Giga Drain, respectively.

The true weakness of Periculux is Poison-type, as they always deal 4x damage to it does to the Neon Evolved Shiinotic's Grass/Fairy-type that remains. Faster Poison-type such as Crobat can easily wear it down in one shot with a Poison-type STAB move. However, Periculux can have Psychic and Psyshock to deal with slower Poison-type.

Trivia[]

  • Periculux was originally going to have its Fairy-type replaced by Light-type, but because the creator felt that there is enough Grass/Light Pokémon in both for the Gen EX 1 and Gen EX 2 games, it stays as a Grass/Fairy Pokémon like its pre-evolution, Shiinotic.
    • Its signature Ability, Deadly Light, allows it to boost Light-type moves to compensate.
