Nintendo Smash Stars is an upcoming video game to be released by Nintendo with Bandai Namco Games manufacturing the arcade version. It is the first spin-off of the Super Smash Bros. series and features characters from the games (especially Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U).

The game is a 2.5D fighting game, as it features 2D gameplay with 3D models of the characters. Unlike the Super Smash Bros. games, however, it plays in the style of other arcade fighters like the Street Fighter series. Players choose from either the Normal or Easy control schemes before selecting a character. Additional modes and online multiplayer are also available in the Wii U version.

Orginally, Nintendo Smash Stars was going to be 4 different games Nintendo would make as collaborations with Bandai Namco Games, Capcom, Sega, and Konami separately. This was to be a tribute to the inclusion of third-party characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The ideas were merged together because Konami left the project, and the original projects were too similar to one another.
