The Nintendo CDS (sometimes shortened to just the CDS) is a handheld video game console to be released on June 16th, 2017. It is part of the ninth generation of consoles. Developed by GreenReaperGames and manufactured by Foxconn, the Nintendo CDS is the first console in the Nintendo CDS family. Although not confirmed, it is extremely likely that a Nintendo CDS XL will be available as well.
The main difference between the Nintendo CDS and the Nintendo 3DS is that the CDS uses discs instead of cartridges, allowing for larger games and better graphics. The CDS can also play movies due to its disc drive.
Extensive planning went into designing the Nintendo CDS in order to make sure that it would not overheat and that loading times would not increase because of the change to discs.
The Nintendo CDS is 161mm in length and 121mm in width. The device is 25mm in height when closed. The console also features Amiibo 2.0 support.
