- Barry Steakfries was going to be a playable character, but, he never was there.
Bob-Omb Buddy, a beta host
- The demo had a pair of pants that lets you make deadly groundpounds. It was replaced by the Pound Suit.
- Master Mantis ran the Assembly Dojo in the demo.
Count Bleck, a beta boss
- Count Bleck was supposed to be in the game, but, he was absent.
- The game was made for the Nintendo DS, it was moved to the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.
- The game was called Super Mario Build-A-Game, Mario's Magic Creation Station and New Super Mario Bros. D.I.Y. 2, but now it's called New Super Mario Bros.: Creation Studio.
- MC Ballyhoo was a beta host. So was Bob-Omb Buddy.
- Hookbill Koopa was a beta boss, also.
- A powerup that let players throw Poison Mushrooms wasn't in the final game.
- Cataquacks were only in the demo.
