Mr. Game & Watch makes his fourth return to the Super Smash Bros. franchise in Super 5mash Bros. 5. Mr. Game & Watch retains his quirky and unique move set that draws contents from Game & Watch though with a few new twists.

How to Unlock


  • Complete Classic Mode with the starting roster on Easy or higher.
  • Play 150 Vs. Matches
  • Clear Event 27 "Black and White"

Mr. Game & Watch is fought on the "Greenhouse" stage.

Special Set A

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Chef 5% (pan), 4% (sausage), 4% (steak), 4% (shrimp), 4% (fish) Flips food out of a frying pan. Moves slowly in the air. Aside from the pan itself dealing damage, the food can be used defensively to cancel attack animations of opponents as a zoning tool.
Custom 1 XXL Chef 2% (pan), 9% (sausage), 8% (steak), 7% (shrimp), 7% (fish) The food produced is much larger and slower.
Custom 2 Short-Order Chef 0.5% (pan), 2% (sausage), 1.5% (steak), 1% (shrimp), 1% (fish) The food produced is much faster and weaker.
Side Special Judge 2% (#1), 4% (#2), 6% (#3), 8% (#4), 3%*4 (#5), 12% (#6), 14% (#7), 9% (#8), 32% (#9) A hammer that can have any one of 9 effects.
Custom 1 Extreme Judge 5% (#1), 23% (#9) Only chooses the 1 or 9 numbers, though with less extreme effects on each.
Custom 2 Chain Judge 1% (#1), 3%,2% (#2), 3%*2,3% (#3), 3%*3,2% (#4), 3%*4,3% (#5), 3%*5,2% (#6), 2.5%*6,4% (#7), 2.4%*7,4.2% (#8), 2.25%*8,10% (#9) Instead of additional effects, the number of hits matches the number displayed.
Up Special Fire 6% Jumps upwards, opening a fall-slowing parachute afterwards. Capable of canceling into any move when falling.
Custom 1 Heavy Trampoline 16% (clean), 10% (late) Less height on the jump, but with more damage.
Custom 2 Trampoline Launch 12% (near), 8% (far) More height on the jump, but has no parachute or lasting hitbox.
Down Special Oil Panic Based on absorbed attacks Collects absorbable attacks and dumps them on opponents.
Custom 1 Efficient Panic Based on absorbed attacks Fills in one shot, but subsequently weaker with less range.
Custom 2 Panic Overload Based on absorbed attacks Oil is bigger and slower.

Special Custom Set B

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Boxer 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% Mr. Game & Watch fits himself with a glove and punches forward; dealing damage. The amount of damage is randomized but will deal significant damage. While 10% is weaker, it will do more launch damage and is more quicker. However, the 50% does less knockback and is slower with lag.
Custom 1 Quick Boxer 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% Mr. Game and Watch releases a punching attack that is much quicker but delivers less damage. However, the 25% is quicker than the default.
Custom 2 Reliable Boxer 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% The punch comes out slightly quicker, connects easier, has less lag, and the higher damaging punches comes out more often the default at the cost of less knockback.
Side Special Egg 5% (egg), 2.3% (loop bird) Mr. Game & Watch can throw an egg with, upon breaking, releases a bird which flies upwards; knocking opponents as it flies upwards. Cooking the time will cause the bird will fly even higher thus dealing more damage but lessens the length of the throwing distance.
Custom 1 Exploding Egg 12% Instead of the bird flying upwards, the egg simply explodes dealing fire damage. Cooking the time will lengthen the distance thrown but will not affect the damage output.
Custom 2 Angry Egg 3% (egg), 6% M. Game & Watch can throw the egg even further. Upon cracking, the bird will fly in a circle and will launch opponents upwards. It has a wide path of movement and will launch anyone within its range.
Up Special Buzzbee 2% A Buzzbee will hoist Mr. Game & Watch into the air; causing him to float into the air on a fixed winding path before letting goo. Two additional Buzzbees will fly around Mr. Game & Watch and do damage and hit stun to anyone who is hit by them.
Custom 1 Maniac Buzzbee 8% It has a more wild and crazy flight pattern but with more horizontal distance. The two Buzbees also will do more damage and knockback.
Custom 2 Poisoned Buzzbee 1.8% (poison loop) The Buzbee has less traveling distance but the Buzzbees will poison the opponent; dealing 1.8% per loop though each poison damage does not cause hitstun.
Down Special Crazy Spot 3% (without), 8% (with), 1.8% (reflected) Mr. Game & Watch erects a crazy spot which can be used as a shield to protect the damage or reflect projectiles back. Mr. Game & Watch throws a hockey puck forward. When it comes into contact with the Crazy Spot, it will vastly increase the range, speed, and damage of the hockey puck.
Custom 1 Directional Crazy Spot 6%, 10%, 2.3% Instead of just excelling the hockey puck, it also changes the direction causing it to
Custom 2 Malfunction Crazy Spot 3% (without), 5% (with), 1.8% (reflected), 22% (malfunction) It functions much like the default but can cause the Crazy Spot to malfunction and will explode; dealing high damage and knock back.

Final Smash

Name Damage Description
Final Smash 1 Octopus 15% Turns into a large octopus.
Final Smash 2 Spitball Sparky 12% All opponents are levitated to the air and will tumble though they can affect their tumbling by tilting the control stick right to left but not up or down. Mr. Game & Watch will generates puffs of air which will knock opponents higher into the air - it dealing more damage and knockback the higher the damage.

Character Selection Screen

  • Mr. Game & Watch rings the bell.
  • Mr. Game & Watch jumps up and waves his arm.

On Screen Appearance

  • Moves along a row of Game and Watch LCD frames until he reaches the foreground.
  • Arrives via a clothesline from Rain Shower.
  • Comes out from the manhole and jumps out.

Victory Animations

  • Moves around in different poses.
  • Rings his bell.
  • Jumps up and down in the air.
  • Sits down, sighs, and lays down on the ground and falls asleep.
  • Juggles pins around.
  • Mr. Game & Watch looks around as if lost and appears confused.

Losing Animations

  • Mr. Game & Watch is clapping while looking forward.
  • Mr. Game & Watch is teetering back and forth confused.
  • Mr. Game & Watch flashes brightly.

Victory Fanfare

A flourished remix based upon the typical bleeping noises that characters or other objects in a Game & Watch would make.

Idle Animations

  • Hops in place.
  • Looks behind himself.
  • Touches his chin with his hand.
  • Taps his foot up and down.


Mr. Game & Watch's trophies can be earned by completing Classic Mode, Adventure Mode, All-Star Mode, and Boss Battle mode. In addition, further trophies can be found during matches and at the Trophy Shop.
