Moonruphus is a Dragon/Dark type Pokemon introduced in Generation VI. It is the version mascot of Pokemon Moon. It knows two signature moves: Dark Blast and Dark Bolt.
Moonruphus is a bipedal dark blue/black Dragon-like Pokemon with yellow rings around its arms and legs. It has a lot of moon symbols that glow on its head and body. It also has a long thick tail with glowing stars on it, people thought it's related to Zekrom.
Pokedex: Known as the "Moon Guardian Pokemon", this Pokemon is always very fond of moonlights.
Even though Moonruphus is unobtainable in Pokemon Sun, and instead is in N 's (formerly Ghetsis's) side. Ghetsis will revive Moonruphus at the Sacred Tower. Also, you also have to defeat/catch Sunophia in its rampage. Ghetsis will use Mooruphus to battle you. After all of Ghetsis's Pokemon were defeated, N will catch Moonruphus, tell his previous actions from Pokemon Black and White to Ima and you, then he gives you Reshiram and leaves with his Moonruphus that his father caught.
Once Ghetsis has revived Sunophia in the Sacred Temple, he will tell you that you need Moonruphus to go with you. After you get all eight badges, and defeated Team Plasma in Zokalion City, the Mayor will give you the Moon Gem as a reward. When you leave the city, Cody/Irene will run and tell you that Ghetsis has controlled Sunophia in the Solar World. When you get to the Solar World, the Seven Sages will block your way and battle you, and Ghetsis will tell you that it's too late because Sunophia has already spreaded chaos all over the world, after that, the Moon Gem will shake in the bag, come out and absorb aura, then will reveal Mooruphus inside. Moonruphus will then go on a rampage and battle you. After you have defeated/caught Moonruphus, Cody/Irene will heal your Pokemon, and leave immediatley. Ghetsis will tell you that they will meet again one day, and will battle you.
- Moonruphus broke the tradition of the unique type combination of Deino and its evolutions.
