Mission: Impossible - IMF 5 is a first-person shooter video game developed by EA Robotic Operational Creative Kilometer (EA ROCK) and published by Electronic Arts. The game is based on the Mission: Impossible TV Series and Film franchise and a sequel to 2011's Mission: Impossible - IMF 4. It was released in November 2013 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One worlwide.

The game follows the story of the Impossible Missions Force ("IMF") with the player assuming the role of Agent Justin Kiko as he and his team track down a wanted terrorist named Rollin Hand and stop his plan from nuclear war.

Like it's predecessors, Mission: Impossible - IMF 5 is a stealth action-adventure title played from a first-person perspective. IMF 5's gameplay is mostly stealth, with heavy emphasis on light and darkness, as in the pervious games. The player is encouraged to move through the shadows or wear disguise for concealment whenever possible. The game has 23 weapons, ranging from assault rifles, rocket launchers and machine pistols, to futuristic weapons such as laser rifles, Gauss Guns with bullets that can track enemies automatically. Weapons can be customized and upgraded with 87 attachments and 25 upgrade options. These upgrades may alter the nature of these weapons, transforming standard ammunition to cover-penetrating ammunition.

The game has an online cooperative mode for the campaign, where the second player takes control of Squidward J. Tentacles. If the player choose to go alone, Squidward will appear in some parts, but for most parts, he is not there.

IMF 5 's online multiplayer mode contains three playable factions—the United States, China and Russia—fighting against each other, in up to 64-player matches on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Each mode has an objective that requires unique strategies to complete. Players can call in UAV reconnaissance scans, air strikes, and attack helicopters, when they achieve three-, five-, and seven-enemy kill streaks respectively. A game ends when either a team or player has reached a predefined number of points, or the allotted time expires in which case the team or player with the most points wins. If the points are even when the time expires, Sudden Death mode is activated in which there is no re-spawning and the team who either has the last man standing, or achieves the objective first are the winners. If the player is in either of the two matches, then there is an Overtime match, in which the next team to win is rewarded the victory.

Characters and setting

IMF 5 is set in the year 2034, a year after the evnts of IMF 4. Players assume the role of Justin Kiko, a member of the Impossible Mission Force (IMF). The campaign is based on the first 11 episodes of the fifth season of the tv series.
