Minecraft U Edition is a version of Minecraft that was released for the Nintendo Wii U. This is Mojang AB's first time working with Nintendo, and is therefore counted as a company crossover.
It is available for download on the Wii U. Downloading it may give the player some sort of Minecraft-related Mii accessory, but these last for a limited time.
Gameplay
Minecraft U Edition gameplay is very similar to the computer version.
In this game, you play it the way you desire to.
In Survival, the main mode, you are stranded on an island, and it is unknown how you got there. You must survive; this is done by traveling, building a house, and fighting creatures known as "mobs". Mobs are anything living in the game, such as Cows, Sheep, and Villagers. A more dangerous variety of Mobs are known as monsters, and these include Creepers, Endermen, and Zombies. You must collect resources by crafting (using a Crafting Table) and mining blocks, let it be with an Axe, Pickaxe, or even Shovel. Also, there is a hunger bar, which drops from time to time, and you must keep it steady. Otherwise, you can lose health, which is how damaged you are. You must gather food, such as Carrots, Steak, and Bread, to keep your hunger status high, and if necessary, you must cook it in a Furnace. More advanced ways to enjoy the game are going underground and mining to find ores such as Diamond, Iron, and Gold. Down there, you may find Abandoned Mineshafts, Dungeons, or Strongholds (huge dungeons with a Portal to the Void area known as The End). You can also craft Enchantment Tables, for enchanting your items, or Potions, to give you boosts or hinder enemies.
In Hardcore mode, everything is the same as Survival, but you cannot restart your world if you die. Also, mobs are harder to defeat and valuable resources are less common.
In Creative, you can do anything you want. You do not need to break blocks to get resources, as you have everything you need in your inventory (every single item, block, tool, and weapon in the game). You can spawn mobs, and fly around. You are also invincible, and even if mobs attack you, they will deal no damage. All hostile mobs are neutral in this mode (except for Silverfish and Endermites), even though they cannot deal damage to you.
